If he doesn't go to Real Madrid, I wouldn't mind him back on the Spurs, but I doubt that would happen. I wouldn't be surprised at all if Houston went after him. They desperately need some size up front, and I think Rasho might fit in with them.

Rasho + Duncan down low = too slow. Spend the MLE on Marion or Odom and cross your fingers that Ian stays healthy. We need a quick/active big man up front next to Duncan, who has slowed down considerably on the defensive end the last year.
We tempted the gods of fate by actually winning a championship with this guy. We should have got 2 trophies for accomplishing that.
Is Rasho still available?
With Oberto and Thomas gone (for now), he might be a cheap option for a solid rotation big.
Sign Rasho and watch the defensive numbers suddenly improve. A big body that can score a little bit without having plays run for him while getting some boards and guarding the paint AND who already knows the defense would be pretty valuable, especially now that he wouldn't be horrendously overpaid to be here.
If other options did not pan out, I wouldn't be against bringing Rasho back now that we have brought in Jefferson. We know what we are getting and there is zero learning curve.
Agreed. Rasho would be a good fit for this team.
Spurs need a starting big and a big who can be the first big off the bench. Nesterovic isn't my favorite NBA big, but for the bench he might just work out and his price should be affordable.
Ship sailed in 2006...let it keep sailing.
Why we even signed him (in '03) to begin with is a head-scratcher
You obviously don't understand that Rasho was probably the best Center the Spurs have had since Robinson left. He was just overpaid, so people said he sucked.
He knows the system, and plays solid defense against the likes of Shaq. For the right price, I'd love Rasho as a backup Center.
Also, you probably haven't watched Rasho play since he left San Antonio. He is still pretty good, and might have even gotten a bit better.

Rasho maybe close to signing with Real Madrid
With Thomas gone, Rasho at the end of the bench with a cheap contract would make a lot of sense.
yes.
but I also think he will more likely go back to Europe. he has the ring, he has the money and to be true, if I had the chance to finish my career in a great city like Madrid (for more money, including free entrance to the owners box in San Bernabéu), I would also take that option.
I'd take Rasho back as the fourth/fifth big.
It would be so fantastic if Sho came back here!
i remember screaming at the tv watching rasho almost every time i watched him play.
i am not inclined to relive those days.
One thing I like about Rasho is that he's willing to stand his ground and take a charge....unfortunately, he tends to get dunked on every once in a while.
Besides that, I'd love him on the Spurs, and I'm going to keep saying it until he either signs here, or elsewhere.
If he comes cheap then definitely. He is easily the best defensive bigman the Spurs have had since D-Rob (not named Tim Duncan). And he always knew where to be on defense. Say what you will about his aggressiveness, but the dude was always a willing defender on the block.

As much as I would like to have Rasho back, I don't see how he would necassarily upgrade our lineup, even at a cheap rate (assuming he's the second big we pick up in FA). If we're talking about "new era", we should be looking for more talent, and potential to improve once getting here. All I remember is Rasho getting benched for matchup purposes in the 06 playoffs - has anything changed since then? Rasho is still a slow, but lengthy, 7 footer. Had 38 blocks in 1,214 minutes last season (0.5 bpg, 17 mpg, 70 games). That's likely the kind of minutes he'd be seeing, give or take. Knowing that Shaq is going to the eastern conference, and Yao is perpetually injured (apparently his foot hasn't healed), a big in the mold of Rasho isn't needed a whole lot (imo). We need more a PF like pop has stated, someone quick enough to guard Pau, Dirk, Amare, Nene, etc.
