Will a team spend more than the MLE on him ?
If the answer is no, then Marion becomes an intriguing S&T possibility. He will get something in excess of the MLE in terms of annual salary, even if it is a short contract. When you look at what the Raptors have under contract next year, they have a real lack of talent. They will be interested to see what talent Marion could bring. And they may be the only franchise in the NBA that would actually want Bonner. So Bonner plus KT for Marion at 2 yrs, 15M?Quote:

Marion has absolutely no ability to create offense for himself, he's undersized, his athleticism is wearing down..if we somehow get him on a bad contract, we'll have to deal with his diminishing skills, since he's going to be nothing without his athleticism..

After whatever the spurs do with the MLE I would like to see them go after a title hungry veteran like a Shawn Marion, Grant Hill, or Antonio McDyess. If we sign someone like Wallace it could convince one of these guys to jump on board to win a championship. They have made plenty of money so if they want a title their best oppurtunity would be by taking spare change from a team like the Spurs.
Even ignoring the character issues with Marion..we play a half-court style, and everybody knows Marion has no ability at all to play this style..

I've got to admit, when I heard that Toronto would probably have to renounce the rights to Delfino, Marion, and Parker, I had to wonder if this emo would be worth taking a gamble on. I think I might do so, begrudgedly, if Wallace or 'Dyess passed on the Spurs. Maybe you could get him on a one-year deal where he busted his ass for a contract in '10? I really don't want the Spurs to have to feel like they have to go small because of an inability to get the appropriate help for Tim. The last thing I want to see is another year of Pop experimenting with a type of basketball he feels he has to play, because of what he doesn't have at his disposal.

I dont know why most of people around here hates him...maybe because he played with Suns b4. I watch most of his game since i always got NBA League pass...he is a good at defending big guy (ex: Nowitzki) and when suns go against lakers he guard kobe as well (switching with Raja). He's good at rebounding (double2 guy) and be able to shoot 3 as well as finishing someones else offense (second chance points). This is what Spurs need: guy who be able to put up ball into basket on the missing shots. In raptors hes not as effective because the team sucks bad...they dont have guys who can slash rims and let him finish and dunk...if you look at his numbers, he also really good...If a team knows how to use him than it will be really good.
If the Spurs were to go small ball, I'd definitely take Marion as the PF. For a guy his size, he was a great rebounder and plays good defense against the quicker PFs. He's still a very good on the ball defender, and with his long arms and jumping ability, can still bother the shot of taller players.
However, this guy is not going to be a starter with the Spurs, and I'm not sure he's going to like that.
