Actually, in 2005, we just put Bowen on him and said that's that. He barely made Bruce break a sweat.
The other 2 years, we played Bruce on Nash a lot and Marion still couldn't make much of a dent.

His "decline" is directly related to not playing in PHO any more. Matrix was the ultimate system player, like those QBs that UH used to crank out from their run and shoot offense who never did doodly in the NFL. Matrix is like a fish out of water in any other system.
As for the way that SA limited him in the playoffs...really? He let himself be taken out of the game by being bumped or run out of his lane on the break? WTF? That alone makes me not want him. What a fucking emo.
I dont know why most of people around here hates him...maybe because he played with Suns b4. I watch most of his game since i always got NBA League pass...he is a good at defending big guy (ex: Nowitzki) and when suns go against lakers he guard kobe as well (switching with Raja). He's good at rebounding (double2 guy) and be able to shoot 3 as well as finishing someones else offense (second chance points). This is what Spurs need: guy who be able to put up ball into basket on the missing shots. In raptors hes not as effective because the team sucks bad...they dont have guys who can slash rims and let him finish and dunk...if you look at his numbers, he also really good...If a team knows how to use him than it will be really good.
If the Spurs were to go small ball, I'd definitely take Marion as the PF. For a guy his size, he was a great rebounder and plays good defense against the quicker PFs. He's still a very good on the ball defender, and with his long arms and jumping ability, can still bother the shot of taller players.
However, this guy is not going to be a starter with the Spurs, and I'm not sure he's going to like that.

the Mavericks are pushing for a sign-and-trade with Toronto that would send Shawn Marion to Dallas. Such a deal almost certainly would have to include Jerry Stackhouse going to Toronto -- or a third team -- because only $2 million of his $7 million salary for next season is guaranteed. Toronto is not in a position to take back salary because it needs to clear space to sign Hedo Turkoglu, who agreed to a five-year, $53 million deal over the weekend after reneging on a verbal commitment to Portland. Mavs owner Mark Cuban and Marion's agent, Dan Fegan, are pushing the Dallas scenario, according to a source, and are trying to involve either Oklahoma City or Memphis as a third team to satisfy Toronto's need to clear room for Turkoglu. If the Raptors can't trade Marion, the simplest path to clearing space for Turkoglu would be to renounce its rights to Marion, Carlos Delfino, and Anthony Parker.

I can already see those alley oops to Marion from Kidd.
i really don't see why Toronto would do this. why would they sign and trade for Stackhouse if they are going to release him anyway?
