True, but I don't think he will do a VAT tax. I think he'll just let the Bush tax cuts expire which means everyones taxes go up but he can still claim he didn't raise taxes. And since he sent the little stimulus checks he'll still claim he cut taxes for 95% of americans.

I think right now the administration is working hard to see if they can get this VAT passed AND blaming it on Bush. What more can you ask for...
High Gas prices... Bush's fault.
Housing forclosures, market failure... bush's fault.
Corporate Bankruptcy... Bush's fault.
These high debts we are incuring.. bush's fault.
Katrina... Bush's fault.
North Korea's nuke test... Bush's fault.

Higher taxes and cost of living, if they and the media can convince the people... Bush's fault.

I don't care what you call the revenue source, it not always taxes. What about the Cap and Trade policies? This effectively taxes energy for all income levels.
