The man has barely been in office 6 months and Bush left him a shit storm of epic proportion....excuse him for not being able to bring about a golden age the second he took office.
If someone thinks the prestige of the college the president went to is irrelevant that person is retarded.

With that said, I'd be lying if I said he's done a perfect job so far. I disagree with a fair amount of what he's doing, I'm just saying that it's unfair to blame him for the fact the economy hasn't gotten any better 6 months into his presidency.

Oh great, now Jindal is just another Edwin Edwards. Holy shit you make some dumb fucking arguments.
Palin's had her shot. I did think she was essentially the subject of a full on character assassination campaign by the national media and various associated parties, but this stuff is getting old now. She should have just returned to Alaska and focused on being governor for the next couple of years.

Re: sarah palin steps down as governor
I want to see her run for President just so I can fully take in the pure viciousness, hatred, panic, fury, etc the media would throw towards her.
I want to see what would happen. I think it'd be a pretty heavy blow to this cracking rock. Who would have thought a white conservative women would be what it took.

The Republicans she's going to be running against are going to do that to her in the primaries.

You attatch relevancy to this while calling my arguments dumb?
Look you like Jindal, fine. I could careless. I don't. Simple as that. I only consider myself to be a Republican or Conservative for the purpose of arguments in this forum, because they are the minority and frankly need my help, and because of my anti-pullout stance, and I honestly couldn't careless about any packaged ideological platforms as that entire concept is one I consider to be stupid. Words are just words....

"Like" can be a strong term. But then I see who else is carrying the banner of something other than ramming the state up into every nook and cranny of our lives.

Re: sarah palin steps down as governor
i simply think that she believes the governor of alaska can only get you so much. I believe she is going to be working with her SarahPac, surrounding herself with policy wonks and comeback ready to enter the national stage.
Her heart is set on the presidency, and she feels she cannot govern alaska, and run for president at the same time while being a mother. One of those needs to go.

1. Not anywhere close to what the unholy alliance will do
2. The gop is weak. The gop with palin is weak. The gop without palin is weak. No one, not even "conservatives" like any of these gop candidates. None of the gop candidates could do it the right way without failing because they have no one who will blindly follow them like Obama has of the herd.

She's running based entirely on appeal and will it ultimately be just that that decides her fate...like the majority of the Presidents in the history of this country.

Right. Who appeals to us most such that we are willing to subject more and more of our lives to direct democracy, until, perhaps, that day when we realize that hey, maybe that's not such a good idea and perhaps the Constitution shouldn't have been regarded as a historical artifact that was a "goddamn piece of paper" or "something which grows."
Bonus points if you can assign those quotes to their respective origins.

The next Presidential election is more than 3 years from now. If she can't handle being governor for the first 18 months of that, then she can't handle being President.

Bush and Gore, those 'polar opposites' of the 2000 campaign. Though Obama said essentially the same thing, though it was in some obscure radio interview a decade ago.

You'd be amazed how many racists reveal their racism in the process of making a joke. I'd say it happens that way 90% of the time.
Exactly that way.

You guys can trash her all you want. Just shows you don't know shit.
I'll bet she's stepping down because she made a lucrative book deal due to be printed next year. Not only will this make her millions, but I believe this will help catapult her to the presidency should she decide to run.

So she is better serving the people of Alaska by quitting her service to the people of Alaska.
If a book and a governorship are too much for her to bear, that doesn't bode well for a Palin presidency.

Re: sarah palin steps down as governor
You know, stepping down early is a smart idea if you wish to promote your second in command for governor. Already being an incumbent governor will give him a boost in the next election. From wiki:
Quote:
Parnell is expected to become the 12th Governor of Alaska on July 26, 2009 following Palin's announced resignation. He will be sworn in at the Governor's Picnic in Fairbanks.
You 'glass half empty' people here are pitiful at times.
