Finley had nothing to with the Spurs' MLE. He had a player option to come back to the Spurs. He was coming back...especially it was his decision not the Spurs.
You're just taking a cheap shot at him!!:bang

Re: Rasheed Wallace signs with the Celtics
Is it a certainty we get McDyess?
Again, I'm not surprised Rasheed went to Boston. Perhaps he figures he has a better shot at winning another ring with the Celtics in the "Leastern" conference vs. the WC.:king
And Boston really wooed him vs the Spurs who didn't seem to show much interest though many says he's a better fit w/the Spurs than the Celts.

Not quite....
even on paper they're not the best team. The Lakers has the best team on paper.
But you don't win anything on paper.........let's see what happens in the next day or so.

But I've wanted him on the Spurs for like 3 years, so Im kind of biased.
Knicks before D'Antoni would have been silly, but Knicks since D'Antoni are on a different path. What I meant was that if he was going to thrive in any system it would have been D'Antoni's, given his athleticism and open-court gifts, but he did nothing.
Anyway, given the Spurs' proclivity for character guys, it's highly unlikely that Wilcox is on their board.

You think? I'm not so sure about that......the Lakers, if healthy, can probably take them.....it all depends on Garnett's health among other things.

What do you think? :rolleyes
There is no certainty. Certainty is, in all things, an illusion.

So yes, you are wrong.
RC said Holt "challenged" him to make moves that would improve the team. I've never heard RC or anyone else definitively say that the entire MLE could and would be used. If they do I will be very happily surprised, but for now the "fact" that they are willing to have a payroll 7-10 million above the cap is just like the "fact" that Rasheed would be in town on monday or tuesday to discuss joining the spurs... in other words, pure speculation by hopeful fans.

Didn't Pop say that the MLE would be used?..I thought I remembered reading that..I could be wrong..

Drew Gooden?

Re: Rasheed Wallace signs with the Celtics
Hedo 2.0?
He'll change his mind tomorrow...

Re: Rasheed Wallace signs with the Celtics
fuck wilcox, I don't want him on our team. Lets get Zaza.
-
Re: Rasheed Wallace signs with the Celtics
well that's lame.
maybe the FO is trying to go TOO young.
-
Re: Rasheed Wallace signs with the Celtics
It's entirely possible Rasheed just didn't want to come here. It's unlikely we'll really know, but more than the FO not recruiting heavily enough, he might have had his sights set somewhere else.
Whenever the EN starts writing about a player we're interested in it usually feels like a smokescreen later when we end up with someone no one thought of.
Given RC's confidence, I'm thinking a trade has already been arranged. A proposed trade would be more reliable than entering into a bidding war via free agency.
But that's just a guess.

Re: Rasheed Wallace signs with the Celtics
let sheed walk, let him lose. Out of Us, Cleveland, LA, Orlando, and Boston, I would say Boston is the worst team on the list. Having the oldest set of superstars supported by the weakest bench makes for injuries. Sheed is not a smart man. Good thing :pop: is.

Splitter?
Frankly, I think I'd rather have Gooden than anyone, including Rasheed and McDyess.

Re: Rasheed Wallace signs with the Celtics
Not surprised.... shit like this always happens to us... we think we are going to get some big name like Maggette or Sheed and then get fooled... at least we didn't have to wait weeks for him to make his decison.

As mentioned, there seems to be no reason for Rasheed not to have visited San Antonio unless the Spurs told him not to.

I don't blame the FO for missing out on Rasheed though. No big name FA wants to play in SA(couldn't even convince Cory Maggete to come play here).
This is just a dumb post. Maggette took more money to go elsewhere. Can't blame him for cashing in.

I believe it was a shitload and a half more money, to be more exact.

Never let facts get in the way of bad fiction!!!
Thanks for reminding us...that Maggette took way more money than Spurs could offer last season.

Re: Rasheed Wallace signs with the Celtics
Gee, yet another free agent spurns us, oh well, fuck him he'll be another Jason Kidd and not win shit anymore cuz of it. Bring On Mcdyess or even Lamar Odom, Odom has good athleticism that we can use. Even Big Baby sounds good, though he's sorta like a bigger version of Malik Rose era 2003. Wer'e still gonna get that championship!

Re: Rasheed Wallace signs with the Celtics
With how much the Spurs have been publicizing the RJ acquisition, I find it hard to believe they're going to offer the entire MLE on one FA big. I think they don't have the cash to do it. Unless a ton of us decide to buy some season tickets all of a sudden.

Target Dice. Go after him hard. And get him a ring. His 15 foot jumper is AUTOMATIC. His effort and desire is second to none. He had 29 games this year w/ 10+ rebounds compared to Sheeds 17. He is EXACTLY what you all need.
Get it done Spurs.
I'm sold. :)
Piston fans would know best and this guy 15 footers were automatic.
I started to see Sheed might not have been a good fit for the spurs and how he could cost
them a game with one of his tantrums.
Spurs look good at the 5 now with todays signing.
We're still looking for that 4, lets move on and get this guy.
