Best big men Spurs have had?
IN THE TIM DUNCAN ERA -- meaning, Tim Duncan is not an option for this poll-- who are the TOP 3 big men the Spurs have had play alongside him so far?
D Rob is the obvious #1, I would argue Horry is the obvious #2, but after that there's a big drop off...I think Oberto is probably #3, but perhaps others think otherwise...
-
Re: Best big men Spurs have had?
I think Rasho probably outdoes Oberto, he was simply overpaid. And Malik Rose, during the years when he was actually earning that contract, could probably rival Robert Horry for that #2 spot.
-
Re: Best big men Spurs have had?
Horry has to be #2..if it wasn't for his unreal performance in game 5, we wouldn't have won that title..he was also big in 2007..
-
Re: Best big men Spurs have had?
Whoever will vote for Bonner is an idiot.
-
Re: Best big men Spurs have had?
Rose had hustle and played D pretty well but was undersized, in all way. This kept him from being a better rebounder.
-
Re: Best big men Spurs have had?
*in before somebody says Scola*..
-
Re: Best big men Spurs have had?
It would've been Scola.
:stirpot:

Because I forgot KT. Ugh. I knew I forgot someone.
Vote "other" if you want KT. He should definitely be there. Although, I think as an all around player I still give the nod to Oberto, KT is close behind him. Both are far behind David and Horry, though.

Re: Best big men Spurs have had?
Come on..no votes for Anthony Tolliver..his Summer League performance was epic..

I'd agree with that. I'll add that there's a big dropoff between 1 and 2, and between 2 and 3. But an even bigger dropoff after 3 with "everyone else". Everyone after the Admiral is a role player.
We haven't had a decent big to play with Duncan since the big man retired.

Re: Best big men Spurs have had?
I will always have love for Danny Ferry and K Will because they would just knock people on their asses. We don't have anyone like that now, which is part of the problem.

Re: Best big men Spurs have had?
Yes, Kevin Willis was another omission, though he wasn't #3, #4, or probably even #5 IMHO.
-
Re: Best big men Spurs have had?
Forgot about Tolliver.
1. Tolliver
2. Robinson
3. Horry
4. Rose
Pops shoulda made the list . . .
-
Re: Best big men Spurs have had?

Nice list and knowledge, you have.

Re: Best big men Spurs have had?
What exactly was Rasho better at that Malik? Passing and shotblocking is all I've got.
Defense evens itself out because whilst Rasho was nice defensively and better against the sloths, Malik was fantastic on the quicker perimeter players whilst still being pretty damn good against bigger guys. He gave the Spurs some versatility.
Offensively, its no contest.
-
Re: Best big men Spurs have had?
Can Malik really be considered a big?
-
Re: Best big men Spurs have had?
He defended Shaq. He played with Tim Duncan a lot of the time as the "other" big. He may have had the height of a swingman, but he played big.
-
Re: Best big men Spurs have had?
um i think Melvin Ely!!!!

Re: Best big men Spurs have had?
LMFAO-what a pointless vote. DR is by far and away the best he played with. thats the problem, spurs haven't had a legit big next to TD since the admiral retired. Its been a joke. And people wonder why TD gets worn down in the playoffs-that's called 5/6 years of NO help down low.

Rose was really good for about 2 to 3 years. I'd put him way ahead of Oberto.

Re: Best big men Spurs have had?
Okay, seriously, who voted for Tolliver:lol
-
Re: Best big men Spurs have had?
1. DRob
2. Horry

1. 50
2. Big Shot Rob
3. Rose
4. Oberto
5. Believe it or not Rasho
I think Dice could make it up to #3 on this list if he came and the spurs won at least 2 titles.
