The Scola Trade is officially forgiven.
We can all give RC, Pop and Holt some love by purchasing tickets and selling out games. They stepped up. So now it's our turn as fans.
I think you meant Show Peter Holt some love. Without him and his investors, none of this would be possible.
So thank you Peter Holt.
Go RC!
you sir are a fucking genius.
I can give some love to whoever you want after this damn awesome offseason. :)
Um . . . I'm not trying to be negative, but I still have yet to see any official/credible news article that we have actually signed McDyess.
The smartest thing RC did was have Oberto and Bowen sign non-guaranteed deals back in the summer of 2007. Those deals led directly to Richard Jefferson. Getting Richard Jefferson allowed the Spurs to spend all their money on a big ... thus being able to land McDyess.
So RC's forethought played a huge part in this offseason.
Monroe.
Antonio McDyess accepts Spurs' offer

Holt and co stepped to the plate with basses loaded, down 3 runs in the bottom of the ninth with two outs, and belted one SO HIGH, AND SO LONG, that it STILL HASN'T LANDED!!!
The Spurs FO deserves every bit of respect it gets, and more!!!

Great job R.C
Good point to LJ on the foresight of R.C. for those partially guaranteed last years...
He definitely deserves a reach-around
The moves themselves are great, but the insanely-practical and apparently-prescient recognition that any plan to use capspace in 2010 was ultimately futile has been huge. With the projections about future caps going down, had the Spurs waited around and stuck to such a plan (to the extent that it ever existed) the already substantial problems attracting FA to SA would have been even bigger. By immediately using assets that would have later created capspace, the Spurs were ahead of the curve and got a gigantic bargain. And getting Jefferson surely helped to convince McDyess that coming to SA was a fruitful choice. Adding Blair AND the player they had targeted at 37 is just icing on the cake.
I maintain that McDyess might not be as talented or flashy as Rasheed Wallace, but in the ways that the Spurs need it, McDyess looks to be the more productive player and the better fit.
The summer had been a home run, but I think it's reaching grand slam proportions now.
You guys better get your asses in some seats so the Spurs can pay that luxury tax.
So far this has been a great offseason, Now let the games begin!! I cant wait.....
My payment for season tickets has already been sent in and jersey ordered.
Just another day for RC. THanks
Huge kudos to RC for having a very good 2010 plan that would have put another star next to Tim and Splitter, and then for having the resiliency to change that plan midstream and come up with a new one that gives the Spurs the best chance to win another title or two before Tim retires. Think about this though: in 2010, the front line could possibly be Tim, McDyess, Blair, and Splitter.
Big props to R.C. for striking first in the offseason by drastically upgrading the athleticism (Jefferson), making JUST the right moves to shore up the frontline (McDyess) - and being in position to be able to capitalize on some good fortune (Blair). An absolute FANTASTIC offseason. :tu
RC Buford makes Chuck Norris look like Montgomery Burns.
I want a RC jersey.
In all seriousness, I've always believed in the Spurs FO. Props also to Holt for wanting to spend through this economic crisis.
Great Job. This reminds us why he is one of the best in the business. Cheers
Being a good GM is like being a good poker player-- most moves are gambles, and even the best of the best will lose on some of those gambles a certain percentage of the time. The best GMs are never perfect, but they understand the ratios and risks in being cautious vs being daring and are right more often than they are wrong. I'm proud to say that I have never criticized RC in this forum, and now more than ever he has proven himself to be one of the best GMs in the NBA.
Cheers to RC and Peter, this offseason is the greatest since 2000 when we simply secured Duncan and at least 3 more championships... lets hope this summer will produce that many more. With Splitter coming next year we should be in great position for the rest of the Duncan era... what a great summer
BIG props to RC. :toast
So, let's see, RC managed to re-load the team to contend whilst simultaneously infusing it with youth and potential. Where are the naysayers again? Oh, that's right, they live in padded rooms.
What a great offseason.
R.C. finally has shown his mettle and his worth as GM. Good.
Well done R.C. Now make the season come sooner and it will be perfect!
R.C. Buford doesn't look like Matthew Perry, Matthew Perry looks like R.C. Buford.
