Who is b-roll?
i want NOWWWWWWW
Sweet!
Who's B-Roll? lol
Isn't twitter fantastic?
:lol
This thread wins.
is it up yet :)
Kudos to Spurs entertainment for bringing the team closer to the fans.
I want vid now!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)
Can't wait to see it. I really want to hear what Ian has to say.
Pretty disappointed in a thread that claims something is on it's way. I've been wasting 2 hours of my life waiting for Spurs.com to upload this "awesome video." Why not just notify us when it's already arrived?
Rofl ^
this is bullshit!
Come on
I want it now!~
Video is up!
Hill and Blair looked pretty good although it was just a couple plays.
Wow, Stephane Lasme is on the summer league team? That guy is a sick shotblocker.
Hill is running the point I notice. Nice.
I love it!
Starring George Hill as the grizzled old vet! :lol
Who is that first guy who makes a layup in the video? Looks like Morris Almond to me ... but the video is a little blurry.
Man, Ian still looked pretty rigid imo, but no one seemed to be going too hard. Blair showed some nice stuff around the basket and a good looking face up jumper.
Was Haislip there?
I didn't see Gist in the clip.
This has got me excited to see them play in the SL.
Lasme has the longest arms I have ever seen...
What the hell has Marcus Vinicius done to himself? He looks like Matt Barnes on crack these days.
WTF is Bonner the only white dude in the roster now…..????? it looks like…. Is that the reason we’re not trading his ass??
Ya, I know, he has never been a "graceful" athlete, but I am used to seeing him move with a little more pep to his step.
I certainly hope he does not put forth that half assed effort in SL like he did last year.
Hairston interview is up. Same link.
now the interview with Malik Hairston is up, through the same link
I forgot how long Hill's arms are too. Damn.
$15.00 for this :lol
Hairston said the right things. He has to shoot better from the outside and become a primary defender to stick in the NBA.
Hill-Hairston-Gist-Blair-Mahinimi
or
Hill-mcclinton-Hairston-Gist-Blair
Both of these linups look pretty damn nice for a summer league roster..
Blair looked good...would like to see more of Lasme.
Mahinmi sounds like a real cool guy. I hope he does well.
Edit: RC makes it sound like the Spurs aren't done yet... :hat
Man, Coach Newman has a me a little scared. Last time he coached summer league he did a poor job. Now he just dropped the gem of "Jefferson can be a double-double guy every night".
Um, what?
Haislip is our Dirk stopper. :)
Buford mentioning Gist with Hill/Mahinmi/Hairston makes it seem like he's a shoo-in. Unless something crazy happens at Summer League
This is my first time hearing Ian for a few minutes, and the discussion from a while back, to me his voice sounds a lot more french then Jamaican.
I promise I got the video up as fast as I possibly could. All 7 of them are over here - http://spurstalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=130904
That's what it sounds like. The Spurs apparently wanted him as the "mobile four". Seeing how that was Bonner's role last year, Bonner's status on the team just took another hit.
But yeah, after Orlando beat the Cavs last year almost entirely due to the Cavs not having a mobile four, adding some insurance in Haislip makes a lot of sense.
Gist also take a hit. He could have been the guy to put against these mobile 4.
The only way he makes the team is as a SF.
It will be interesting to see at what spot he will play with the SL. With the addition of Lasme, the SL team has enough bigs to play Gist at SF if Spurs want it.
I listened to all of the interviews except Newman. I like what I hear from all of the players, and it looks like Ian is ready to get back to work and make an impact on this team. George is just looking to play well, and hopefully he develops as a PG, and Malik wants to shoot better and be a better defender, and apparently Blair just wants to do whatever it takes to get better and help the team. Positive things from all of the players.
RC made it seem like they're still exploring options to make the team better. With Haislip, it looks like Bonner's job security might be a little shaky. I wouldn't be surprised to see another trade.
I think Gist's best chance of making the team is if the Spurs want a bigman to feature on the Toros. There's no other candidate to be the featured big like the Spurs used Mahinmi in his rookie year.
The D-League is much more useful when developing a big rather than a small, IMO.
Other random observation:
-Blair doesn't wear any type of knee brace or protection even in practice. That has to be a good sign, especially considering how overly protective the training staff is.
-Coach Newman basically said that this is Hill's time to prove he can play point guard. Reading between the lines, I'd say if Hill plays well, he'll have the backup point guard job. If not, the Spurs will look for a point guard via free agency or trade.
-RC said that Pop gave him a "laundry list" of things that the teams needs to address. I wonder what Pop still wants. I'm guessing another perimeter defender but I'm not sure what else. Perhaps he wants RC to dump a few players.
-Mahinmi sounds excited. Hopefully he's ready to show he has NBA talent.
Summer league will be extremely interesting :hungry:
Damn. I got to seee the Ian interview and then the video link has a general error and wn't play anything else.
Yeah, whoever that is looks exactly like Almond to me :lol
This was published on July 3rd:
So perhaps the Spurs brought in Almond to practice and see if they wanted to sign him. Or maybe they talked to Almond and convinced him to play for the Spurs in summer league.Quote:
Morris Almond will meet with San Antonio early next week before heading to Las Vegas to play for New York's summer-league team.

Or that's not Almond.

Morris Almond
That sure as hell looks like Almond. Perhaps the Spurs worked him out so they can possibly sign him after Summer League?
LJ, would you do this:
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMa...tradeId=mgxr8o
My favorite part of the RC Buford interview: after Buford says he met with Pop and got a list of things that still needed to be done, the reporter jokingly says, "that guy's never happy!" and Buford, laughing, responds, "yeah, he's a real pain."
I'd rather trade Finley before Mason.
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMa...tradeId=m4x8vx
I'll have nightmares if Finley is starting at 2 again.
I think that Gist has to be a 3 if he wants to be a Spur any time soon. There are conflicting reports on whether or not he can play there, but I guess we will see this Summer.
Of course the Spurs would trade Mason/Bonner for Jackson. He can play the 2/3 and he is clutch and a good defender.
Why would the Warriors do that?
I honestly think Gist at the three could work.
The Spurs already have 5 bigs, and Blair would make it 6. I really hope Gist can earn minutes as a SF, but if not...
Another trade?
If Finley is traded, that opens up the backup 3 spot.
Hold on guys, I'm enjoying this new roster as much as the next guy, but we still need some continuity. Keeping Finley is not such a bad idea. Granted, I'd much rather have Bowen than Finley, but we still need to keep some grizzled vets to help transition. There's really no rhyme or reason to what I'm saying, it just feels like if you get rid of 75% of our team and replace it with a lot of youth, you might actually be taking a step backwards because of inexperience with the system and each other.
I have no basis for this argument, it just seems like someone needs to reign it in a little bit and not get too crazy with revamping the team
Grizzled vets = Duncan, Ginobili, Parker. That should be plenty.
Nocioni would be a great fit in SA. How about 'small ball' with:
1 Parker
2 Ginobili
3 Jefferson
4 Nocioni
5 Duncan
?
Nocioni's deal is a bit hefty, though it does decline by a half mil a season. And it doesn't extend past 2012. But that's assuming the Spurs would be fine with adding his contract, extending Manu, and signing Splitter (or someone else) using some part of the MLE next summer. If the Spurs are going all in, I think they should pursue a deal with the Kings. From the Kings' perspective they'd save at least $13.5 mil past next season. If Williams' contract is included then the savings will go up. Of course, the Spurs' lux tax bill would also increase. But Nocioni would be a great fit...
If we could trade Bonner and Finely or even Mason and get Nocioni, :wow
Stephen Jackson would be too great; I couldn't even dream that !
He's so clutch, great shooter, great defender, good rebounder, is unselfish,..
