Re: Oberto offered a contract
I'd take back Fab...even to just be on the IR and provide some veteran leadership and teach the rooks the tricks of the trade...

This belongs in the NBA forum... Maybe?

Re: Oberto offered a contract
The article also said Herrmann has an good offer from Alicante/Spain and also talked with Dallas and New York

Re: Oberto offered a contract
Mike D'Antoni probably thinks he's a superstar.

Re: Oberto offered a contract
I guess that tells us that the Wizards no longer think that Andre Blatche is their guy at PF?

I don't know where Oberto would get playing time in Washington..
Haywood is a lot better than him, and McGee has a lot of potential..

Exactly. Drew Gooden.

Funny that Bonner's the only name not on that list.
I think the things with Mahinmi and Blair are overrated. That said, the unproven factor in the front line is definitely of concern.

Gooden would be interesting if he would be up for something like a two year contract at the LLE with a player option for the second year, with an eye towards opting out and then getting paid as the Spurs would have his Early Bird Rights. Of course, this would be assuming that he couldn't find a better deal elsewhere, which even in this market, one would think he could.

Don't understand why teams aren't giving him more looks, even if he has reputation of being a bonehead and a defensive slob, which I didn't appreciate during his time in SA. I think he plays hard and wants to win. He's one of the 5 best low post big men in the league. Some team will get a really good deal on a good FT shooting big who can get a double double with reliable PT. I just don't want him in the West. Hope he goes to a contender in the East. I would think Orlando if they don't resign Gortat. Would love to see him stay with the silver and black at LLE to give more veteran big man depth (Dice and Tim are the only vets), but I think the owners have coughed up enough $ this offseason in their eyes. Drew is definitely worth more $ than LLE IMO. The Drew haters are wrong.

Re: Oberto offered a contract
I'm sure a lot of GM's are thinking in this economic climate that if they're patient then they'll be able to find a player who will panic and sign a bargain contract. There was an initial flurry of activity early in the signing period amongst the contenders, but I think we're fixing to see the market really slow down as GM's will hunker down and play chicken with the free agents. Gooden appears to be one of those guys who's going to get stuck having to hunt for a contract in that environment.

Re: Oberto offered a contract
Yep. Alot of guys are going to have to wait to get their contract. There's always Europe.

Well, Bonner has proven that hes an NBA player. He might not be an especially "good" NBA player, but he definitely can play at this level. And hes not an injury risk. As an end of the bench kind of guy, Bonner is pretty damn good. It's just when you look at him as a centerpiece in a bigman rotation that hes overmatched.

i think randy foye should start for them at point and have arenas play shooting guard since it's his secondary position, or vise versa. both of them are pg/sg's

Re: Oberto offered a contract
I think Oberto will find a home, if not with the Spurs.
As for Gooden, I think he'll realize that there isn't much money out there right now, and he could very well sign for the LLE, maybe with the Spurs, but the Spurs have too many big men right now.

Re: Oberto offered a contract
Oh I thought you meant from us...Relieved. Out of the three of Kurt, BB, and Fab - I think Fab is the least likely to come back (if they all get cut, but Kurt will most likely stick with the Bucks for a year)...

Re: Oberto offered a contract
Oberto wants to be back in SA.

This sums up the Bonner situations pretty well. Ideally, you don't want him as your starting center but he is not a bad situational big. It isn't the end of the world if Bonner is on the roster at the start of the season.

I disagree that we too many bigs. We have only 3 bigs with NBA experience, that's counting Bonner and not counting glassman Mahinmi.

Re: Oberto offered a contract
Oberto in Sacramento or Houston because of the Argentina connection looks more likely...
