To All the Haters....
This is my first post. I have been viewing these forums long enough, and I am so frustrated and tired of hearing all the hate towards the return of Michael Finley. Finley is the guy who is coming off of his greatest 3 point shooting season. He brings experience to the rooks with his veteran leadership. I am glad that he chose to come back and finish his career in SA. He will not be traded because Pop sees what I see in him, and that is a guy who doesn't talk smack, shows up for work night in and night out, and hits the big shot when called upon.
:bking

He will give you his moneys worth this season, especially if manu becomes an issue.

Hey i got your back on this one...
They are HATERS...I am proud to say that the Spurs got Michael a ring. He well deserved it. He is a TRUE PROFESSIONAL. Period. Isn't that what the Spurs are about???
You cant blame Finley for him being put at the "4" like yall would joke around time for time saying he is our PF next to Duncan etc. That is on Pop not Finley. Finley hits BIG shots. We have all seen it. We all say Finley will be great if he didnt play "so many minutes." Well let me tell yall haters one thing. It aint his fault. He is just doing what the coach tells him. And I believe he will do so this coming year. Whether it will be on the bench or even in the starting line up again.
I as well dont see why people hate on Finley so much....He does what he is supposed to and he has made Spurs fans jump out of their seats!!
If your going to blame anybody its POP. But he is GOD around here so i guess it falls on the players shoulders for being on the court more than he should.
FUCKING HATERS....
and P.S. I am not Michael Finley:hat

Most of us don't hate Finley, we hate the amount of minutes he plays..

HE plays hard. His skills are limited but very useful.
"I'm not Mike Finley."

Re: To All the Haters....
I DONT HATE FINDOGG,i wont talk shit about him like i do bonner mainly cuz i respect everything finley has accomplished thruout his career
sure he isnt what he was, he cant defend a lick nemore and his shooting can be streaky to say the least but hes got the balls to take and make the big shot, can still fill it up on occasion and i feel for one more year can atleast provide some instant scoring off the pine

And Bowen should be here over Finley too.

Re: To All the Haters....
No hate here... 2.5mil for Finley is not a bad price.
I guess people just see Finley's 2.5 and Bonner's 3.25 and think....... what else could be have?

Agreed.

Re: To All the Haters....
Finley is a great person, but Bowen should be here instead of him.
-
Re: To All the Haters....
It seems like it's not just Pop though either who love Finley. After the 07 championship Manu, Bruce, Tim and Tony all kept talking about "winning one for Mike"
-
Re: To All the Haters....
Definitely not hating Fin. I do agree he needs to stay buried on the bench to make way for the youth movement. His veteran status and solid presence in the locker room will be plenty for him to earn his salary. He'll also be an effective guy to bring in on set plays that can go from cold to bombing away instantly. Just don't give him too many minutes...Please Pop.

Re: To All the Haters....
he'll be a good backup for rj at the 3, but as long as his minutes are limited (and hopefully against the other teams bench, he showed that he can't really defend the better players anymore) but we can still use his leadership and shooting off the bench (same with bonner but minus the leadership and add a little more defence)

LOL, you should have declined your option and signed for 2 mil instead of the 5.9 million to make the Spurs better :ihit If you are indeed the real Finley :lol

Re: To All the Haters....
no hate for findog, he'll be valuable coming playoff time with limited minutes. But as far as I am concerned, I hope Malik Hairston can backup RJ
-
Re: To All the Haters....
As BOROSAI laid out, Finley as a 10 minute sub for RJ could work well. Outwise he's useless.
-
Re: To All the Haters....
No doubt the Spurs' roster will be much better, younger and quicker this year. A contender again.
They lose one thing getting there -- three point shooting. The good longshooters were lacking in other areas and their roles may now be reduced -- Bonner, Mason, etc.
Finley could be a crucial player off the bench to hit the big three. Mason and Bonner need playing time to get 3's within the flow of the game. They have not proved that they can enter the game and immediately hit the dagger 3 (in fact, Bonner seemingly can't). A vet like Finely can do that. Like Horry did.
The one factor that those who disparage Finley may overlook is the choke factor -- Finley doesn't have it.

pop, is that you?

Re: To All the Haters....
Rather have Finley & Bonner than Oberto & Bowen.
-
Re: To All the Haters....
I love Finley... 8 minutes a game...
-
Re: To All the Haters....
I've always been a big Finley fan, but lately, too many 2 for 8 performances, can't stay in front of anyone on the defensive end.
The Finley hate on this board is a bit harsh, I bet he knows what's in store for him this year. He'll probably get the Bowen treatment this year, but I'm okay with that because of the depth the Spurs have at the 2/3.

Re: To All the Haters....
I don't have anything against him, but at the same time, I'm not gonna feel sorry for him.
Poor, sad, multi-millionaire who plays a game for a living... boo-friggin-hoo. He makes more money in 1 game than soldiers deployed to combat make in a year. Respect him, but don't martyr him.

Very well said, I agree completely

Re: To All the Haters....
Oh yeah, I can see him sitting next to Bonner on the bench, all of next season. :rolleyes

x2, 10-12 minutes at the most. He is a defensive liability to say the least. I got sick and tired of seeing him get beat last season. As Ive said before there are much worse options to have in the 9 or 10 spot of your roster though.

Re: To All the Haters....
Michael Finley Is A True Professional, And I love the Role He Plays with this team... He is Not A Starter Anymore, and with adding Jefferson, and Ginobili playing Healthy, I dont see Him getting That Many Minutes..... Hopefully he gets his 15 mins a game..... There Is No reason to hate Finley, He Is A competitor, is A true Professional, and has hit some big Shots For us...... Since When Did Spurs Fans Bash A Man Who Played A Big role In helping us get A Ring??? Im Dissapointed at the Haters.....

Re: To All the Haters....
Limited minutes is the key phrase. Bonner in limited minutes is a passable one-on-one post defender against slower bigs and a near 50% three-point shooter, and greater when he's hot. Finley is a complete liability on defense, especially against faster guards and forwards, but has shown to be a fantastic shooter when he has the hot hand. These two are practically mirror images in that regard, so 10-20 minutes each depending on whether they're shooting well or depending on matchups that can mask their defensive holes sounds like a good compromise. Or so I think.

Re: To All the Haters....
I do not hate Finley. He is a pro among pros. The thing that I do not like is the fact that his age is starting to show on the court. I want him to prove me wrong. As of right now, I see him playing only spot minutes.
