What makes you so sure that he will not play ahead of a 37 year old Dice (by that time?
I think Splitter has a better chance of being a starter by that point.

I saw him in against Real Madrid, and wasn't impressed. I don't think he's a 7 footer, legit, as someone else implied, but even if he is, plenty of those stiff in the NBA every year.

He is coming over next year, don't worry about that. Finley, Bonner, Ratliff, Haislip and I even think Mason all have expiring contracts. We will be getting Splitter, and he will be Starting.

I really couldn't say with any confidence that he would definitely be behind Dice and Blair -- he is the kind of center who can play with Duncan.
