Ted Thompson the packers GM is somewhat of an ego-centered moron but if Favre hadn't hemmed and hawed so much there would be nothing the GM could have done to get rid of him.

BTW I personally have no problem with what Farve did, its the manner in which he did it that bugs me.
I think most spurs fans would cry, then the ones in denial would just rock
back and forth in a small dark corner mumbling "CIA Pop CIA Pop CIA Pop"
The difference between Duncan and Favre is that Duncan never let Basketball control his life as Favre lets Football control his. Duncan can leave the game and feel happy and not worry about coming back where Favre feels that he can just keep going and going. He is not satisfied, Duncan is.
I don't know why everyone's up on Favre ass and calling it "pulling a Favre" when MJ established this technique years ago
Duncan, much like Favre, has earned the right to do whatever he wants. He won those rings with us, any more than likely will be merely a good player (instead of the great one he is today) once all this happens.
I'd have the same opinion of this as I do of Favre-- if it extends his career just a little longer so that maybe my kids are old enough to remember seeing Duncan play (even if it's in a Mavs jersey), I'm all for it.
