Me siento mucho mejor.

No, aún no estoy listo. Falta muuuuuuuucho.

Manu, what are you going to name your twins?
We are not sure, yet. What we know is that considering my last name, they will have some italian flavour.
Cesar421
Me siento bárbaro.
sir_arles
¿Cómo ves el AT&T Center últimamente?
No, no creo.

New York es espectacular.

No, no sabemos todavía.

Cómo me conocen!

No, ninguno.

No no, no me implanté nada!

No sigas nombrando a ver si vuelve mi hermano Leandro!! shhhhhhhh!!

Juego fascinante.
¿Depositaste dinero alguna vez?
No, no deposité nunca.
gaucho_93
¿Cuál de estos 3 bases te gusta más? (Nash, Iverson, Fisher)
Nash.

No, aún no. Ya veremos.

So have you and Many come up with some names for the babies? (By the way check this out. We were discussing it for you: lol http://www.spursreport.com/forums/spurs ... twins.html)
I'm in the plane right now, so no connection. I will check it later, though. We have some possibilities, but not 100%, yet. They will be sort of italian, that's for sure.
So have ya'll started getting some stuff for the babies? How's your wife doing now? Has she been driving you nuts yet? So what have your teammates say about it and have they given you some parenting advice?
I only got books, but we received many gifts for the babies and my wife started buying some stuff. Wifey is doing great, no problems at all. Yes, I received some advice from a few, but I need lots of them from Ratliff, the only one with twins.
I've noticed that your role on the team is different this year. How do you feel about it? Also how's your relationship with the Spurs at this time? As a FA if you had to go elsewhere (I really hope and pray that you retire with the Spurs. You're family now) what teams are you really interested in and what kind of role would you like with that team?
I don't have a problem with my role, is not THAT different anyways. The relationship with the Spurs is great as it has always been. I have no idea where I'd like to play if it's not with the Spurs, never thought about it, but I guess I'll have to start considering it soon. I have no clue about what role other teams would expect me to have. I've only been a Spur so far, so when I start talking to them, I'll find out.
Anyways, as you can tell, I don't know much and don't want to think a lot about that, first I want to win another championship and after that I'll think about my future.
Have you seen any good movies lately? If you haven't you should go see The Blind Side
I watched UP IN THE AIR in Charlotte. Liked it, but not great. Gotta go see AVATAR soon. I’ll consider your recommendation, too.

No, no estoy practicando nada distinto.

How is Many and the boys...you know our blessings are always there with you~~~have you ever chosen the names? oh, two handsome boys~~that is so wonderful.
Thank you very much. The names question was answered before.
And, what about you now? Are you totally rehabilitated?? It looks like it's getting better.
I'm doing great, thanks!

Is it your own idea that you went to teach Maths in school? Seen you've done that last year, too. It seems that you really love Maths.
I really do. This was my 3rd year doing it. Usually kids don't like Maths and I found it fascinating, that's why I like sharing my enthusiasm.

No sé.

Me parece genial.
¿Duro? ¿Te referís a difícil? ¿A fuerte?

What are your expectations for the remainder of this season?
What are your expectations for the remainder of this season?
One on one between you and Lebron who would win and why?
If getting to the paint is not allowed I may have a chance, or better, If you can't go pass the three point line. If not, I think i'd be in a lot of trouble.

Volviendo a tu pregunta.

¿Tus dibujos animados favoritos?

¿Escuchaste alguna vez a Zambayonny? Qué te pareció?
Fugazmente.

Él no me impidió nada.

1. Depende a qué llamas lejano. Si es más de 3 años, creo que sí.
3. No, casi nada.

Hace alguna llamada
¿Yo que tengo que ver con SpursTalk? No no no, no me metan en ese lío, eh! ;-)

- Etc etc etc.

Man, I can't even begin to imagine Manu playing for a team other than San Antonio. I love what free agency allows for in sports, but sometimes certain players should just simply not be allowed to leave the team they'll always be identified with.

Re: Manu Respond to His forum:
This offseason there's going to be many teams with cap space to throw money at players.
That being said, there's only a few superstars worth max deals. Meaning there's going to be money to be maid for second tier players like Manu. Because of this I can easily see Manu being offered 10 million a year from a desperate team and owner.
Would Spurs match that? I don't think so...
-
Re: Manu Respond to His forum:
Some thoughts.
Manu stated that he's feeling totally healthy.
He's pressuring the Spurs for not signing him (he says that he's gonna be a FA when the season ends). He also said that he was a bit dissapointed, at some point, with the Spurs FO, but that's in the past now.
He thinks that, as the season progress, he's gonna start shooting more and passing less.
He's most of all, really happy for being playing constantly.
He doesn't seem to be happy with the minutes he's getting.
He recognize that he really needs to start making his shots.
He said that the Spurs are playing horrible defense and is not the steal department what they need to improve.
I also read two thing between lines:
He considers that when he'd need to penetrate more, he'll be able to do it, which means he's trying to keep it safe at the moment.
He doesn’t seem to be in the best terms with Pop. Probably because of the playing time/ contract year.
Among many other things...

Re: Manu Respond to His forum:
I don't know what this guy expects. Why would the Spurs sign him at any point this season? He needs to think about it logically from the organizations point of view and not selfishly from his point of view. Maybe he's too far in the forest to see the trees?
Minutes wise, he's been playing around 30 for the last while. Too bad his play and his lack of stamina haven't allowed for him to play more. Again I ask, what does this guy expect? Aside from his ball handling/play making (and the fact that he's the only consistent source of steals on the team), he's been bordering on awful this season. The Spurs need to find more minutes/touches for Jefferson, they need Bogans/Hill, because they're the only two plus defenders on the perimeter on the team and they need Mason, because he's the best perimeter shooter of the smalls, so where exactly does Ginobili want these minutes to come from? The more Pop has played him, the more worn out he's looked. He wants minutes, he needs to earn minutes. He's not Duncan, where he should automatically command x amount of minutes.

First of all, he didn't demand shit but if he would like to do so I say he has earned that right with all that he has given to the Spurs through all these years.

He hasn't earned any right. The reality is he hasn't done shit in going on two years now. We can talk about the lack of a true second big man, Parker's struggles with plantar faciitis, or Jefferson's mediocre play, but the reality is if we're seeing the Ginobili of old (as opposed to the old Ginobili), this team would be fighting the Lakers, Cavs and Celtics for the best record in the league and would be a certifiable title contender.
No organization in their right mind would sign this guy during the season. As it is, so long as he doesn't suffer another debilitating injury, he'll likely be re-signed for 2 years/$20 million. Half will be for what he's done for the organization in the past and the other half will be for what he means to the city. He's achieved cult like status in San Antonio and for an organization that's like many in pro sports (which is to say always looking to sell tickets), I find it hard to believe that they're going to let arguably their most popular player go.

Manu has earned the right to speak his mind, the FO office has the right to not sign him (in fact if I were RC I wouldn't resign Manu until the season ends). One thing does not invalidate the other.

Ginobili lost that right with his play the past two years and his (whether you agree with it or not) selfish decision to put playing for his country over his employer. I know that must be difficult for you to hear with your inherent bias on the subject, but that's the reality of the situation. As it is, he needs to keep his mouth shut, pick up his play and stop sending not so veiled messages/threats to the organization in interviews that he'll ply his trade elsewhere if they don't sign him before the season is up.

spurs tried to sign him before he went to play for his country
did not get down
spurs said stay here it will get done
HE SAID HELL NO
they said they would not extend him them
he said FUCK YES

Just because you think that way it doesn't make it true, when a player has given so much to an organisation he earns some special rights and those rights can't be taken away no matter how bad you are playing. Manu has earned the right to say what he thinks to Pop or to the FO, whether those demands are justified or not that's another story (like I said, I don't think the FO should resign him now)
-

Malik was pretty popular and he was let go so the same could happen with Manu. I think the part of Manu saying that when the time comes during FA he's going to let his wife decide what's best for him and his career choice and the twins will have no affect on whether he stays or not is pretty interesting.

That isn't not wanting to get resign, that's prioritizing playing with the NT over getting resigned which is not the same. If the Spurs wouldn't have put that clause Manu would have resigned.

I could say the same to you. That right is reserved for a special few and that's all-time greats (Duncan). Playing for the umpteenth time for your country and in the process making that more important than your employer (and it looks like it'll cost him future earnings) and then proceeding to play like shit for the better part of two years will do that.

Those rights are given to the players that spend a long portion of their careers with the same team and during that time write an important chapter of that organisation's history, not only sport wise but in the social aspect also. Players like Tim, Tony, Manu (Bowen if he would still be playing) have earned that right.

I thought Ginobili accepted and understood the fact SA wasn't in a rush for a contract extension, seeing as how he's been injured the past two seasons.
I am surprised to hear he was disappointed with the FO. I would be devastated if he left the Spurs, but I also understand why they aren't in a rush to resign him until after the playoffs to see how he holds up.

I might have lost it but I didn't read anywhere that he was dissapointed with the FO, in fact he said that he realizes that he will be a free agent and he is OK with that.

And now he has been grossly overpaid going on three seasons. You can't in any way justify $10.7M for what he's giving the team this year, unless you want to point to Jefferson and say he sucks too and is also overpaid. How much less money did he take, anyways? No one offered him a contract because he was a restricted free agent and the Spurs had money under the cap to match anything. I can't stand hearing this revisionist history that completely ignores the bargaining position Manu was in when he re-signed.

In 2008 the Spurs wouldn't have gotten where they got without Manu, besides Manu is arguably the most popular player of this team, he makes a lot of money for the organisation even when he's not playing well.

Re: Manu Respond to His forum:
As for 2008, the Spurs weren't that far from beating LA, considering they had big leads in games 1 and 5, and came a bad call from forcing OT in game 4. Manu carried the team in game 3, but was awful the rest of the time. The opportunity cost of his contract may very well have cost them that WCF. I'm not trying to trash Manu because I have been a huge fan of his since the Kinder Bologna days, but if his body can't survive NBA seasons then he's clearly not worth what the team is paying him.

Let me remind you: Manu had the best statistically season of his NBA career, carried the team during a long part of the season when other players were hurt and lead the team in pts and assts in the last playoffs series we won that year, like I said we wouldn't have made it that far without him.

Nealy was a complete scrub. Fan loyalty and quality of play don't always correlate strongly. Dwayne Schintzius used to get huge ovations when he'd come into games, and he was a horrible player and an even worse person with a chequered past.

The combination of Manu's play and the money he makes for the Spurs organisation with his mere presence on the team justify his salary.

If you want to argue, do it fairly. Don't make shit up just to help your case. I was just arguing the conception that Manu was overpaid in 2008, nothing more than that.
P/S: Did you miss the part where I said that the FO shouldn't resign Manu right now?

That's a lot of popularity to offset $10.7M on 40% shooting.

The Spurs have sold about 97% of their tickets every year in the Duncan era. Despite Manu's popularity (which is great), I don't think he's affected ticket sales that much. He's made fans more excited, definitely -- but it hasn't been as big of a financial impact in that regard as you might imagine.

Not if they get someone who is better able to help the team compete for a title.

At the beginning I think it would. But regardless of that Manu makes a lot of money for the Spurs, players make a lot of money for their clubs, there's a reason why they earn what they earn, Team's owners aren't stupid.

That's a clear indication of how much a large expiring contract is worth in the the NBA.

If the Spurs really wanted to play the game of "Screw the rules, I have money", they could take on Brand's contract and take in Iguodala. Otherwise, no chance.

So with that in mind, who do you think the Spurs could get now to improve their chance of winning?

Re: Manu Respond to His forum:
The revisionist history (or complete lack of memory) by TD21, Ducks, Mookie, and other people on here amazes me, these people who say Manu hasn't done anything to help the Spurs in three years.
Really, you all forget things that quickly?
In 2008 Manu was BY FAR the best player on the team in the regular season, and Tim, Tony and Pop have all said so. Not only that, but he played well in the first round series against the Suns (even had the game winner in double OT in Game 1 as well as assists on both the tying three pointers in regulation and first OT) and played very well in round 2 against the Hornets.
He led the Spurs with 21 ppg and 6 apg in that series, which are better numbers than ANY playoff series he's ever had.
He had a poor series against the Lakers though (by then he was playing on one leg) and because that was the last thing that happened, that's the only thing the haters remember. The entire regular season and first two rounds of the playoffs were completely irrelevant I guess.
I guess these reactions shouldn't be too surprising. To hear Duck tell it, Manu has been stealing money since 2006. Ducks swears he hasn't had a good playoff series since the '05 Finals...

Re: Manu Respond to His forum:
Iguodala is one. Now go answer my points about how Manu didn't take less out of the goodness of his heart, that he was a complete bust last season, that he's been a bust this season, and that he's not worth allstar money when he breaks down to end every season.

It's not being a hater and it's not grasping at random straws (as you are trying to frame it) when his body has given out two years in a row and doesn't look like it's there this one either.

Iggy for Manu? I'd hit that.

Re: Manu Respond to His forum:
im just not using a season (where we lost to the LAKERS, manu played like shit and sasha vujajaajchic ruined him ugly style)as my reason to give him a lifetime contract
thanks for helping us years ago. basketball is a young mans game and manu sure as hell isnt bigger than the franchise- fact.

Re: Manu Respond to His forum:
Even if Manu is slightly overpaid for his current production, he was underpaid for a long while. So it doesn't matter much.
That said, it wouldn't have been smart for the Spurs to extend him last summer. They need to see if his body can take it before they commit any more money to him. I expect him to be re-signed easily though, unless his demands are outrageous (which I doubt).

I'd still be shocked to not see New York offer him a large 3-year deal or Toronto not try to save face by signing him when Bosh walks.

What you don't seem to get is that nobody is saying that the FO should resign Manu right now.

I couldn't disagree more strongly. We are a small market that cannot discount inefficient contracts or pass them off because of past services. I love Manu but this is not Habitat for Humanity we are talking about here.

Manu had a GREAT season in 2008. That was the best year of his career, IMO, and he was arguably the best player on the team (though Duncan was still probably superior).

I'm more concerned with the fact that Manu doesn't look like he has enough left in the tank to be a cornerstone-level player over the rest of this season and the 2-3 after it. If Manu was showing any kind of ability to consistently get to the basket like he did in 06-07 and early 07-08, then no way in hell I'd trade him. I don't believe him when he says his body is great though. I think it's posturing, as the proof on the floor just is not there. He's settling for so many bad threes that it's hard to believe he's capable of the kind of penetration that once made him such a devastating offensive threat.

Iguodala could only be a chance if you take Brand's contract and seeing how you think that Manu is overpaid I doubt that you would like to see Elton on the team. Besdies I don't know how much AI could improve this team, sure he is young and athletic, but he isn't a better playmaker than Manu and doesn't have a reliable jumper, which is something that the Spurs wings must have by design.
And about those other things, I only argue about things I don't agree with, I agree that he didn't play at the level he's supossed to play last year nor this one so why would I disput that? and about the money thing I think I made my point.

To be fair, he did imply that he's playing it safe right now, so maybe he is not getting to rim as often as he used to by design.

No one's going to take Brand's deal. Of course they're trying to sucker teams into taking it right now, the same way every other team that wants to dump salary tries (and usually fails) to do before becoming desperate and trading their star for pennies on the dollar. Iguodala's on the right side of 30, gets to the free throw line, and is a pretty durable player with a much brighter future, in addition to him being better right now.

IMO AI skillsets wouldn't work on the Spurs, he reminds me a little of RJ and I think we all agree that that hasn't work yet.

I said he didn't play like he's supossed to in the last two season but he stills compensates the franchise in other aspects of the NBA bussiness therefore earning his salary, that's my view you don't have to agree with it.

WTF ? you talk about him like he's a newbie on the spurs or a scrubs. Manu has the right to talk, like TP and Tim, and he really doesn't use this right very often, like his two teamates. He didn't say anything special.
anyway, i should have stopped reading you after you called him "this guy".

Andre Iguodala is an underrated playmaker and sets up the plays for the 76ers. Their lack of a point guard causes Iggy to expand his game further, this is different from RJ's single-minded offense, which is to score. Plus, Iggy is also one hell of a defender.

INjuries aside… ¿Is this the worst spurs team you've been on? if not, which?
Every year we have bad stretches. This year we started bad and now we have a hard patch in the schedule. We'll see how it plays out, but yeah, we've been bad so far, no doubt.
¿Has the D schemes changed? have you talked about replacing bowen?
Nothings changed, regardless of who is in.
Do the twins affect resigning?
No, my wife and I will decide whats best when the time comes
If you dont resign, is there a player or team you'd like to play with?
I'd like to play with one of my argie NT teammates. But that wont be my main criteria when I decide
Fernando
¿How worried are you about resigning? do you think about it a lot? have they called lately?
I put it behind me. At one point I was pretty worried, not anymore. I'll be a FA and that's that, not the first time, no problem.
¿Do you think they are ungrateful after your contributions?
This is big business with a lot of money at stake. Nobody makes gifts, neither the franchises nor the players
Who do you see as the best 3 PGs?
tough, ill give you 4. Parker-Williams-Nash-Paul, any order.
santymrcx
Defensively the team has improved a little, playing more intense and looking for steals, but you still miss a lot of rotations, does the team need to communicate more?
We shouldnt be looking for steals, but yes we're getting a little better
gaucho_93
Which of these 3 pg do you like more (Nash, Iverson, Fisher)
Nash.
Do you guys miss bruce on and off the court?
Of course, after 7 years together its hard to get used to him not being there
fedenus
Which win did you enjoy the most and loss hurt the most? the win against dallas and losing to okc and boston at home.
Pop's rants... ¿have they dialed down? ¿How does he keep them fresh and personal? (I love it when he gets mad)
He has streaks. there are weeks when he's on a roll and others where he loses it. It depends a lot on what we messed up… je je. I dont like it as much as you do! I'll send him to your job, see if you still enjoy it so much!
gabyboedo
If a guy misses a lot, does the team talk it over seriously, do you guys rib each other in the locker room, how is it handled?
Not at all. in 82 games anyone has bad nights. It if its prolonged, then maybe we'll do special drills/plays. We joke around but only when its not serious, then we get to work.
What % of resigning? do you think the fans want you back?
I dont know, I dont talk with the FO about it, So I dont know what yhey think. I think the fans want me back, I havent met any that told me to leave (yet!)
TRU
Blair is great, a huge help, but he never kicks out his offensive boards. Has anyone told him that is the smart play?
He's improving day by day, he's a great player and he's playing to his strengths. remember he's young, only 20, at his age I wasnt close to his level.
Kobe talks a lot, who does it for the spurs?
tim, tony, me and fin
Ge
Considering your expectations, what do you value the most for the season and where do you need to improve
I value playing the most! I'm passing well with few turnovers. 6-8 games ago I was penetrating very poorly, and now Im in a shooting slump. If its not one thing its another !
when will we get a spanish forum on spurstalk?
I have nothing to do with ST, I dont want any trouble!
so where is manu talking shit about the FO or pressuring anyone? All he did was say that its a business and that hes put it behind him.

Re: Manu Respond to His forum:
How good do you think you are playing as a team and how much do you have to improve to be at a 100%?
We need to improve a lot on defense and offense, I'd say we're at a 72.86%
Why is Pop sometimes not playing you at the important moments of games? Even if you are not playing well I think you should always be there at the end of game because of your decision making and intangibles.
That happened in a delicate part of the season and is a thing of the past...or at least that's what I hope!
How do you like to end the season 1, 2, 3 or is it the same as long as you get to the playoffs?
What a question...1, always 1.
Is this the worst version of the Spurs you got to see?Every year we have rough stretches. This year we started badly and a tough schedule is awaiting us. We'll see how we develop, but yes, we're not playing well, that's for sure.
Did Pop change the defensive scheme?
No. It has always been the same.
How do you feel physically?A lot better. I have no complains, I just hope I can stay like this all season.
Are your sons going to make a difference by the time of deciding your continuity on the Spurs?
No, it doesn't change a thing. When the time comes I'll decide with my women what is best for the family and my career.
How many chances do you see of winning this year? what about adding T-Mac? And are you ready for the world cup in Turkey?
We have chances, we aren't the main contenders but we're among the 5 or 6 teams with championship aspirations. I don't think there are a lot of posibilities of adding T-Mac, but you never know. And no, I'm not ready. There's a long way to go.
How have you been feeling lately, do you think you are at least at an 80%?
I feel great, I'm just missing shots but sooner or later things will come back to normal.
In case you don't resign with the Spurs...Is there a team or player in particular you would like to play with?I'd like to play with my NT partners. But truth to be told I don't think that is an aspect I will consider when the time comes. There are a lot of things to consider.
When you get into the game do you usually do it at your normal position or do you have to play some SF or PG for some minutes?
In our system SG and SF are the same thing. I almost never play PG, but I have no problem doing it.
Are you going to be able to play the world cup?
It's going to be a lot more complicated than other times. Anyway, I'll decide when the time comes and I'm sure about my future.
Is the financial crisis affecting the team's sales?
Yeah, it shows a little but luckily we have great fans that love and respect us very much so the difference isn't very big. I don't know the exact numbers.
How do you feel on the team? It seems like you have more of a playmaker role now.
This year I'm passing the ball more and trying to get teammates involve 'cause I think that's what this team needs and 'cause I my shot isn't falling but the time will come of shooting more and pass a little less. (a more precise translation: "I'm saving myself for the playoffs to start attacking the rim more often")
Is the team improving?
That's what we're working on, we are trying to improve day by day but we have a long way to go.
Have there been any rumours about trades?
Nobody has heard anything. You guys always know more than us.
How worried are you about signing with the Spurs? Have they talk to you about the subject?
I kinda put my mind out of it now. At the moment it affected me a little bit, but it is what it is, I will be a free agent and that's it, I have been through that already, no problem.
Don't you think is a little bit ungrateful of their part that they haven't resign you yet after all you gave to the franchise?
This is a bussiness and there's a lot of money involved. Nobody gives away anything, not the franchises nor the players.
Who do you think are the top 3 PG of the league?
Tough question. I will give you 4: Parker-Williams-Nash-Paul, in no particular order. (lie: he put them in an ascending way ;) )
A walk on part on the war or a lead role in a cage?
Lead role in the war.
What play in a basketball court do you like the most?
Transition, that's the most fun for everybody. On the half court I feel comfortable playing the pick and roll.
How are you physically?
100%
Those are some, man this long. I'll try to translate more later.

Re: Manu Respond to His forum:
That highlight post in the first page of this thread really missunderstood some of what Manu said. And everybody went crazy for nothing.
Manu never said he was disapointed with the FO or anything. He said that at some point of this season the idea of becoming a FA next year did affect him bacause of the way things were going for him at the start of the season. But now that has passed.
What I can ready between the lines, and this is what I think, I might (probably) be wrong. Is that Manu has the FA idea in his head. He's not denying from the start because at some point he's not very sure if the spurs are going to re-sign him...:depressed

We'd all prefer to have Manu back, but it's not reasonable for him to expect to come back for the same amount of money when we have a guy like George Hill that's young and fresh with a bright future, isn't as injury prone who's going to fairly expect more money in the years to come.
You'll always be my favorite Manu even if your not sporting a Spurs jersey, but you need to be fair.
