Thabeet may be on the trading block.
According to a stupid chad ford article because of Marc and Randolphs stellar play.
Do we want him? Can he help?
I say yes, he has no offense, but I dont care, I want as much defense as is possible on this team. I think Timmy would be an amazing mentor for the young guy.
It'd be funny having Blair and Thabeet on the same team, they might up each others games.
Who do we give up for him?

Re: Thabeet may be on the trading block.
We dont need another rookie!

Re: Thabeet may be on the trading block.
If Pop wont play Ian, I doubt he would play Thabeet

Re: Thabeet may be on the trading block.
He won't contribute much immediately, isn't the perimeter big we'd need against guys like Dirk, and won't come cheap.
Pipe dream, nothing more.

:tu.
Besides, another big man, who has no offense to speak of is not what we need. If there is any player I want off that Memphis roster, it's Rudy Gay.

As much as I like him, we don't need a raw player.

Wow. All that. I'm from and live in ct so I say yes. I hope ur not racist. If so may the lord touch you.

Re: Thabeet may be on the trading block.
WOuld be cool to have him around for practice. Then Blair and Thabeet could do routine reenactments of their WWF move the "Thabeet Toss".
-
Re: Thabeet may be on the trading block.
It might take Thabeet the rest of his life to learn the Spurs system. He'd never contribute anything until way, way down the line. Spurs need to win now or next year.

Re: Thabeet may be on the trading block.
Actually, to be fair, defensively, he would be the shotblocker we need. He has shown tons offlashes blocking shots near the rim. Excellent timing and is a big defensive presence on help defense. However, he will really hurt us on the offensive end, which was why I said no.

Sounds like Ratliff in a nutshell. I agree, no.

This is just like saying 'let's sign Mouhamed Sene'...

Re: Thabeet may be on the trading block.
I really doubt they're ready to give up on the 2nd overall pick in THIS YEARS draft.... if they were tho, and cheap, I would for sure take him. I wouldn't worry as much about his offense as his stamina, and ability to stay in the game from fouls as well. With him and Timmy patrolling the paint, nobody gets easy baskets. We don't need as much offense. Besides... outside of putbacks, how much scoring are we really getting from our 5?

I don't think he fits our profile. The FO is looking for a veteran big at least 35-40 years old.

They might want to if they feel he has no further upside and his value won't get any higher.

If the price is expiring + picks, then hell yea. He might not help this year, but it'd still be a great deal. If we have to give them Hill or Blair, then no.

Re: Thabeet may be on the trading block.
If we are gonna trade for a young big.....Robin Lopez or Roy Hibbert please. That being said....Lopez and Hibbert are off limits, as I do not see the Nets or Pacers allowing either to leave anytime soon. As far as Thabeet goes.....no thank you.
I am still holding out hope that Mahimni has a future in SA and Splitter will make himself available to join the Spurs next season.
I'd like to find a long, athletic swingman with a nice shooting stroke. I'd as like to find a combo guard with a solid shot, good ballhandling, and is a good passer
C - Splitter, Mahimni, Bonner
F - Duncan, Jefferson, Blair, Bogans, Haislip, SWINGMAN
G - Tony, Mason, Manu, Hill, Hairston, COMBO
-
Re: Thabeet may be on the trading block.
I think you mean Robin's twin Brook Lopez, Robin plays for the Suns.
-
Re: Thabeet may be on the trading block.
gahh!! please dont' say splitter's name lol..
it's bad enough trying to forget a girl's name that teased you and stood you up on a date..
