Re: Old, boring, slow Duncan
The rebounding and D was impressive tonight, but he's in a huge shooting slump..the positive is that he's moving and jumping well, he just can't make the shots right now..last year, you could tell he wasn't getting any lift or speed..so I'm sure it's just a slump and he'll bounce back..

Re: Old, boring, slow Duncan
T. Duncan Tim Duncan
5-20, 21 Pts
26 Rebs, 6 Assists
he was 11-11 from the line though
-
Re: Old, boring, slow Duncan
27 Rebounds!! Thats insane
-
Re: Old, boring, slow Duncan
He must have missed so he could have rebounded
-
Re: Old, boring, slow Duncan
11-11 from frree throw line... shootin it pretty good there.
-
Re: Old, boring, slow Duncan
great rebounding game, but his offense has taken a dive off a cliff.
is this a repeat of last year?
-
Re: Old, boring, slow Duncan
All of his shots were tough though, he rarely wasn't putting up hard shots in traffic.
And I'll take 21-27 from Tim and a win any day of the week.

I don't think so..
He's moving well, you can see it with his rebounding and D tonight..he had that explosive dunk..he isn't having trouble getting his shots over defenders..he's just taking a lot of bad shots, and he just can't make anything in general right now..
I'm saying it's just a slump, hopefully I'm right..
-
Re: Old, boring, slow Duncan
He was moving great. He was missing shots he normally makes, its not a big deal. Small slump. Its Tim Duncan, he'll be fine.
Even with 5-20, the line is monstrous. 27 rebs in 35 min? Thats absurd.

Re: Old, boring, slow Duncan
I said this to my fiancé at the game that had Duncan shot the ball decent he wouldve had a 35 27 game.
I mean getting a career high in rebounding and he's supposedly "just about done" is just freaking crazy....
-
Re: Old, boring, slow Duncan
11 of 11 is awesome! I never thought it would happen. I kept wondering if he was ever going to improve that part of his game and he finally has this year. Very proud to be a Duncan fan. I was there at the Alamo when he flew in for his first press conference. He has been the real deal ever since.

Re: Old, boring, slow Duncan
Timmy want ball!!! Timmy want ball NOW!!!

I'm not sure if he's a little tired mentally or physically after how much he's carried this team to start the season, but he's clearly not as crisp in his moves. Earlier in the year, he looked as good as he ever has with the fluidity and lack of hesitation in both his face-up and post game. Now, he's looking to draw the foul a little more than complete the shot and he's holding his release (on an assortment of his shots) longer than usual; he's almost aiming and measuring to a degree, instead of shooting in rhythm and trusting his shot.
He's gone through plenty of these stretches in the past, so hopefully it's nothing more than that (he doesn't look to be hurt or in too bad of shape physically).
-
Re: Old, boring, slow Duncan
He got fouled a lot tonight too though... I mean, they really tried to rough him up in the second half...
-
Re: Old, boring, slow Duncan
Chill, they haven't updated the page yet with today's games.

Re: Old, boring, slow Duncan
Are people actually bitching in here about a 21 and 27 game by Timmy? Damn...we just beat the team with the 5th best record in the league by a healthy margin..shit...try to be happy for a second.

I agree..his shot selection has also been weak IMO..not so much tonight, but in the previous games, especially the game vs. Utah..he was taking a lot of off-balanced runners and started using his step-in off-balance shot which I absolutely hate(it always gets blocked)..
I didn't think his moves were so bad tonight, he had some good looks, the shots just weren't falling..

That shot that you hate is actually MONEY. He just needs to improve his footwork now to get proper separation. I use that same shot (just tweaked for a 6'2'' player) and it rarely gets blocked. I shoot about 70% with that move, it's insane. The problem with Tim is that he steps through instead of stepping out against the taller players and gets it blocked. Against guys like Bynum he should start with an up and under move then mind-fuck him by actually going with a straight up shot next time down.
That move is seriously money because your off hand doesn't affect your shot.
Mini rant over :)

I just think he has been trying to do too much lately because he has had so little help. He looks uncomfortable at times because he doesn't know what he will get out of his teammates. He looked pretty comfortable tonight and he didn't have too many easy looks.
There was one posession in the fourth where he got an offensive rebound, two missed putbacks and another rebound where I just wanted him to go back up. Hard.
I think Timmy can get away with more muscle in the paint especially against smaller guys. It's frustrating when he doesn't go harder at the rim when he has an obvious advantage.

Re: Old, boring, slow Duncan
newb question: if you take a shot, get fouled, and miss it, does that get put down in the stats as a miss? are you 0-1 at that point?
-

if you make the shot it counts as shot attempt obviously, if you miss it then it doesnt count

I'll take 5-20 with 11-11 at the stripe and 27 boards from any player on any day in the league.

i didn't start this thread bitching in the slightest, if you're referring to me
i am more than happy with timmy's play tonight
yeah, he missed shots he should've made, but i didn't start this thread to bitch about his performance in the slightest.. i made it to brag about how he's still the best power forward of all time

No. You have to count the possession where he get fouled as a FGA if you want to go there (outside the and 1 FT).
a little shooting slump for timmy, but hey what a game !! Props to him.

I think he actually likes TD a lot. But just wants to play with other posters' minds in here. I think he must be a very funny guy in real life.

Ducks = the worst troll in this entire forum...don't you know you are suppose to troll OTHER TEAM'S THREADS, not the team you supposedly call your tream. LOL
-
Re: Old, boring, slow Duncan
Duncan also had 0 turnovers.
If you subtract Duncan's 10 offensive rebounds from his missed shots, you get:
5-10 FG
17 rebounds
11-11 FT
21 points
6 assists
0 turnovers
1 block
A great game.
