Our second round pick is a PG
High is he can score and has good handles and likes to dish the ball
Low no pun intended he is 5’11
Pop Loving himself some little people.
We selected Dejuan Blair
I will never forget, never got that signed jersey...
playblair bout to make a comeback lol
Even in G-League draft Spurs don't draft a SF, lol lol lol
dejuan blair is there to teach walker and murray how to play without ACL's "your knee is hurting, bitch i'm bone on bone and i'm in the game..."
Fuck how stupid not to have one potential SF drafted. Fucking Pop and his love for players like Forbes, Mills, etc.
I'm impressed DeJuan Blair is still playing basketball at age 29. Never thought there was a chance he'd make it to 30 with no ACLs.
:lol now guys are melting down over the G-League draft.
The draft is almost irrelevant now with all the other ways to fill roster spots with better players before the draft takes place. About a third of the draft picks weren't even used and two teams didn't use any picks after the first round.
This will be the first season I don’t watch any of the Toros game since no one has a chance of becoming a Spur.
Why is Dejuan Blair even in the G-League draft? I thought he was playing over in China? I also thought he'd make more money over there?
I think the Spurs will put Walker on Ice for the remaining season. After two knee surgeries he might get a few minutes at end of G League.
I don't think he's talking about NBA roster players, but rather players who are only on the Austin roster.
I'm not sure what his point is, though. Out of all of the years of the Toros and ASpurs, SA has groomed and developed exactly one NBA player for their own roster: Jonathon Simmons. The ASpurs function is to provide a place for NBA roster players to rehab or develop. It's not a true farm team, because most g-league players are absolute crap. It would be like if MLB had the top level farm team at the A ball level. If you're ever watching the ASpurs hoping to see a budding NBA talent who's not already on the Spurs roster, you're already wasting your time.
Your right always like watching our draft
picks but I think Metu is going to make a case to stay on the active roster. As
far as Walker this is his second surgery on the same knee with everything that happened with KY they will be ultra conservative with his rehab. “He will NOT play in November “
Just as I was right about Josh Huestis being out for 4 months because of Jones Fracture and Yes he had surgery so even he won’t play in G League.
Damn:
Murray torn ACL
Walker Menesce Sugery
White Plantar fiscuitus tear?
Josh Huestis broken foot
And we have only played one game. OMG
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DqJLBkrV4AAlJO8.jpg
No Nick Johnson is a surprise. Gonna be largely the same team with a couple different guards and DeJuan.
So are the spurs saving the last 2way contract to Josh Huestis?
Yes.
TBD
Apparently they are but he will not be available until late December at the earliest and coming from a Jones fracture I figure not until January, after a few GLeague games will they get a real perspective on how he's healed. Bc t the team needs help now, I don't take it for granted that he's the man. Someone else may become interesting in the GLeague instead.
Huestis could take Poindexter spot. The other two way needs to be a defensive minded point guard...NOW! I love Forbes and Mills effort but it's not really getting it done.
Opening night roster:
https://ak-static.cms.nba.com/wp-con...GHT_ROSTER.jpg
Yep, shuffling of the guards. Will be interesting if anyone else can play the point besides Ledbetter. There will probably be some additions from the player pool in the coming weeks. Still no sign on Johnson.
Still don't know why the Spurs have got Blair in the organization again. Is this a way of evaluating if he's still an NBA player without using a slot for the big club? Or do they somehow imagine he'll be a wise old veteran to help the young ones learn what it means to be a pro?
Weird.
Interesting that the SA Spurs has only one 'two-way' player.
Two 'local tryout' guys... maybe two new J.Simms
Wait.... what does 'Affiliate' mean under Josh Huestis?
Means Huestis signed an X-9 deal this off-season. When a guy with that kind of contract gets waived in camp, the waiving team's d-league affiliate gets dibs on signing him. Spurs waived him, Toros got to slot him in without a draft or competing with other d-league teams for his services. Affiliate contract.
I wonder if Blair pulled a Danny Green and begged to be given another chance? Pop has a soft spot for stuff like that.
It's a G-league slot. The Spurs aren't even paying Blair. Don't read too much into this

I think Blossomgame could easily do what Cunningham does. It's not like Cunningham is a good 3-point shooter and Blossomgame is stronger/more athletic.
With White looking so good, and Walker back relatively soon, it does make some sense to get a forward like Blossomgame on the team. In the very least, he can fill in for Pondexter. Quincy looks to be showing his new ceiling, which isn't as bad as I worried it would be but isn't good enough to keep him over a prospect.
Austin drops a game to the Memphis Hustle.
https://gleague.nba.com/games/20181111/AUSMHU/
I didn't watch it but the Toros really have no good guards in that team it seems like.
Very similar to the big club, just missing the talent needed to compete in a certain position. For Austim, it is the point guard, for San Antonio it's the small forward.
Austin lost, White, Nick Johnson, Hilliard, ... is Hanlan even on the squad?? Ledbetter is a G league backup. Not a lot of good guard play for the Toros.
Yeah I was surprised we lost Nick he was a pretty good PG
Wow. Dajuan Blair is back with the Toros?
They're playing one of their games for schoolkids right now. ESPN+ live stream is so much better than Facebook. Wish they would just go back to YouTube.

Kyle Anderson was never a satisfactory starter, only one by default when he was here. Cunningham and Pondexter, in a combined 28 minutes are pretty much a wash of what KA is putting up for MEM this year.
Blossomgame was on a two way last year, but the Spurs opted not to offer him one this year. I'd take that as a hint that he's not in their plans.
Blossom wasn't on a two-way last year. He signed straight with the d-league. Hillard and Costello were the two-way guys.
There is a difference between saying JB isn't in the Spurs' plans and that he shouldn't be in their plans. We agree on the former, but I'm not seeing better options for the latter.
I never said he is a starter-level player. I said he is a starter. Out of 74 games last season he started 67. Out of 12 games this season he started 9. So he is a starter. And he would be starting before Cunningham if he was on the Spurs. Ideally he's the 11th guy on the roster so you can plug him in once somebody gets injured. If Blossomgame can be that he should be on the roster.
I agree that Blossomgame is not an NBA starter ideally but he could/would be depth for this squad. Cunningham doesn't have the ability to chase NBA small forwards around, DeRozan is out of position and Q just doesn't have enough octane left in the tank. Maybe he would be woefully outmatched but IMHO I sure would give it a try.
Guys we’re tanking just sit back and watch the team get better but still loose.
Oh starting to really like Washburn a true SF 19 pts 12 rebounds and 3 of 7 from 3 point land.
I still like Blossomgame getting whatever minutes Metu is getting. Metu was just too raw. Also Poeltl needs to spend some Austin minutes to get familiar with system tbh
Isn’t Blossomgame able to get a contract from any team at this point?
A lot of Blossomgame's movement in the post looks like he took the time with Duncan in training camp under advisement.
He looks to make a lot of similar moves Duncan would make with his pivoting foot an spins to the baseline or inside the paint. Albeit slower than Duncan would make those moves. Duncan was just so deceptively fast when he got you in the post
Not to sure how effective he would manage against NBA talent, an within the starting lineup since he plays inside a lot not sure you want him clogging the lanes, but off the bench role would seem ideal.
I think next season he has a good chance of making the roster, I just see the fit for him with how the roster is constructed an what the Spurs are needing. He isn't fast enough to handle wings I my opinion as of right now. As a backup 4 next season the Spurs would have a spot for him I think if he continues to improve his game.
Julian Washburn was likened to Bruce Bowen in his pre-draft. At 6’8” and 6’10” wingspan, relentless effort to defend and ability to knockdown the 3, I’m very intrigued with this guy. Why aren’t the Spurs giving him 10 day? He could guard 1-4 in college. Spurs could really use help especially a wing defender
Forget those scrubs, why is Terrence Jones wasting his talents dominating the G-League when he can easily start at PF here?
Well this is 3rd year he has been on our G League team so head case is out of the question as Pop doesn’t put up with that bull shit.
He has good handles is a great defensive player and pretty good on the offensive side as well. Really hope he gets called up to gauge where he is at.
Talking about Terrance Jones. No idea if there's anything like that wrong with Washburn. I just don't think Julian is all that good. Murry and Walker and both longer than him, for example. I was hoping/assuming Wash was going to be on the TC team, but PATFO went with Pon instead, and I do think they're pretty similar players in terms of upside, with JW having a lower floor.
Lol well first why would you even respond to THY?
As as far as Washburn through 4 games yes small sample but I like.
Games: 4
Minutes: 33
Pts: 14
%: 52.3
3 pt % 61.1.
Rebound: 5.8
I think Yacht brings up a good point in that the Spurs lack real PF depth in addition to SF. If Jones retains even Cun-level mobility, he has a chance to be a more helpful player than Dante. With Gay as gimpy as he is, and with Pondexter really not being all that effective, it wouldn't hurt to look at front-court depth. Metu should be in the d-league every game instead of wasting time on SA's bench. The Spurs have to be willing to take some risks at this point, and signing Jones doesn't really seem like a bit one.
More on Jones:

Looks like the two most recent games from Jones. Dude just seems pretty slow, but in terms of his running speed an in his moves. He seems to have retained his combo-forward game from his prime (which is the game I'd like to see Metu develop rather than a Capela-esque rim-protector/dunker). But he also seems to be playing a lot of center for them, and I don't necessarily see the upside to him there.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jUQsSsiETwE
The above video talks about bit about what happened, though there's no detail for the "head-case" part. He's definitely found himself on the outs with numerous staffs at this point, which is concerning. He hasn't exactly been an efficient player, either, especially for modern perimeter standards. But he also hasn't been a bad defensive player nor a complete black hole. It's just hard to see him being a real impact player if he can't be anything more than an undersized, in-paint center with declining athleticism. With his attitude history, it's a hard sell.
Toros may end up being all right this year with Johnson, Walker and Moore joining the group.

Ben with another nice game.
Last minute fill-in but congratulations nonetheless.
Hopefully he was able to practice with them yesterday as well as today. Luckily Team USA was in Houston this weekend so not much travel.
Metu assigned to Austin for tonight's game.
Tonight's game is on FSSW - currently in the 1st Q.
Holland looks like an interesting prospect... maybe I'm so use to seeing bad defenders but he's solid. He's got a lot of good fundamentals down on the end. Austin is so much more enjoyable. We are actually good.
NVM lol... just realized he's 30 lol
Plays well on both ends & a high motor to boot... better than some currently playing on the big squat :oink
Hey what are your thoughts on Nick Johnson he played well last year and seems to have uped his game even more this season?
I really think johnson has a shot with the big team last summer. He played well last year and is a better pg than what we have now imo. Plus he can defend and is a good athlete.
Was curious looked at draft net he was a second round draft pick with a score of 89 which is a pretty high score for a second round pick. His Weakness was he was a tweener PG/SG but I think he has worked on his PG skills a lot the past few years. Yeah he is 25 but is is extremely athletic and has a high IQ definitely think he has a chance making it in the NBA.
Also like what I have seen from Been Moore only wish is he needs to shoot more to show us what he has.
