He arrived at Brazil NT training camp today, 8 days after the other players
I can't read Brazilian. Does he mention anything about wanting to wear a headband?
Among the team mates he is now affectionately called Papa-All. Guilt of irreproachable years he made in his farewell to the Spanish basketball, winning the national title and being named the MVP of the regular season and finals. The pats on the back and praise, however, do not do Tiago Splitter feet off the ground. During his first practice with the group, on Tuesday, the wing-pivot of the San Antonio Spurs made it clear that the timing is favorable, but knows he will have to work even harder to keep on top.
And for now, will have to devote even more than the other commanded the coach Ruben Magnano to recover the time lost due to delay in its presentation. The transfer from Spain to the United States, problems with the release of insurance and marriage Splitter did miss the first week of preparation for the finals in Turkey.
- I think this delay will not mess up because everyone here know each other long ago. Perhaps what can happen is I will not be with them the same fitness, but I will do everything to recover it. I present myself the same, as in all other years, but of course with fellow congratulating. But we are in the selection and we have to remember that. Here are all the same - said the player, who only regrets having made four decisions and was unable to lift the Euroleague trophy.
Splitter's speech follows the line of thought Magnano, in the words that guide the work are equality and fight.
- I'm happy with everything that happened last month. It is an important phase in my life. I'm taking a leap to the NBA, and the selection is in great time, with an exceptional cast, a technical victory. We have everything to make success in the World. I hope to come more moments like that. I'm riding high personal things worked, but I know it is difficult to continue being successful. I will keep working for it.
Nene seems to have no doubts that. For eight years working in the American professional league, he believes that Splitter will adapt quickly to the next phase of his career.
- He is a tremendous rise. Papou almost all in Europe. Now going to a team that even a little envy. You do not have words to speak to the players and the coach of San Antonio (Gregg Popovich). It will take little time to mingle and get used - he said.
Not this again....

I have a hard time understanding British.
Can we get a moratorium on being purposely stupid?
Tupi was the language format that allowed the Portuguese priests to speak to the original inhabitants of coastal Brazil.
Mexicanish?
Texmexish?
Brazilish?
Portugalish?
I forgot Magnano is the Brazilian coach... wow, this should be an awesome experience for Splitter, first Ruben then Pop. I tell you, if Magnano can put some good practice time with the team, Brazil is going to be dangerous at the Worlds...
I had the opportunity to interview Splitter again this week. As always, a player of few words (he never feels much comfortable with the press).
All Brazilian players are really impressed with the trainings of Ruben Magnano. They think they are even tougher than those of Moncho Monsalve (already known to be a hard coach).

Good stuff. Thanks for posting, planaria.
Awesome. Thanks for the photos :toast
like I said in the other thread, Splitter is the best chance for a player on the Spurs to wear the Sleeve

May some of you guys remember Alex Garcia, who played some few games for Spurs and is a fan favorite for Brazilian NT:

The brazilian translation is that he injured his groin on his honeymoon. That's why he is only wearing one of the sleeves on his arm.
:married:
For those here on Brazil, today ESPN Brasil will air the 'Bola da Vez' with him. It starts at 8:30PM, Brazilian time
I am really exited to see this guy play with the Spurs. This has to be the longest off season ever!
Very nice interview by Tiago on ESPN here in Brazil.
He doesn't think about start or getting a lot of minutes. He just want to learn the system ASAP and help the team win.
Said Pop and R.C were very nice to him. He was prepared to fly to San Antonio to sign the contract. He'd take the plane in Cancun via Houston and then San Antonio and R.C told him they would send a private jet to pick him there. Said he really liked how Pop approached and explained what he wants. The only player he talked so far is Manu, who called him in the day he signed to congratulate and told Tiago he was there to help in anything
It'll be great to play with TD, a player he always admired
He said Alex told him to have dinner with coach Pop because he always pay dinners to the players.
Not sure if this has been posted but I just came across it.
http://www.kens5.com/video/featured-videos/One-on-one-Tiago-Splitter-with-KENS-5s-Joe-Reinagel-98279699.html
I hear Tim Duncan can speak English, Klingon, and Elvish.
Watching this video, it looks like he's got that quick jumphook using his left and right mastered. I know it's not the pretiest hook, but i think it will be highly effective in the NBA. It captilizes on the defense not being set. much like TP's tear drops in the paint. So guys don't be surprise if Tiago get's heaps of his points using the shot. but don't expect him to get if off , ala Tim duncan , against set defenses one on one, he's going to get them more through roles and cuts to the basket. unortodox but I think the defense won't know how to handle it, much like Manu's euro step.
Splitter is playing right now.
So far, great defense and a big dunk.

Is there any video? And if not possible how do you know how many points they score ,etc. I'm not from Brazil.
Splitter leave the game in the 3rd quarter. It looks like a sore thigh
Kind of blowing Venezuela out of the water... Hope his thigh is ok.
UPDATE: Doctor said it's a thigh muscle strain. MRI soon
Nothing too serious.
Why the fuck does this always happen?
Tiago just said he felt some pain in the thigh and thought it was better leave the game. Said he isn't in much pain now but will have a MRI now to see more details
glad he decided to leave the game when he felt something, and didn't try and play through the pain
wow another international team injury. retarded.
Yeah but they could get injured just as easily in practice :rolleyes
Doesn't sound like a big deal.
timvp viewing, this should be good.
Crap, well it's good that Splitter was mature about it and decided to take himself out of the game.
However when will the Spurs FO learn about these international players putting so much wear and tear on themselves for their birth country.
I can hear it now...
"Bonner is getting the minutes because Splitter never fully recovered from that thigh injury over the summer"
"Splitter will be much better next season, since he will be fully rested and with one more year under the system"
It's a thigh strain..
Tiago Splitter leaves the court with left thigh injury and is concerned
Pivot team felt a contraction at the site and if injury is severe it can get out of the Super Four Tournament
BRASILIA - The pivot Tiago Splitter, recently hired by the San Antonio Spurs NBA, left the game Saturday (7 days) with pain in the thigh. At first, the problem does not seem serious, but he will undergo further examination in the afternoon to check the severity of the problem.
At conference after the match, the Argentine coach Ruben Magnano declined to talk about the situation of the player without prior knowledge. "He will do an MRI," Magnano said. "I hope it's nothing. The doctor (Carlos Vicente Andreoli) will evaluate it, I can not talk about it. "
Immediately after the confrontation, Andreoli issued a statement explaining the condition of Tiago Splitter, without, however, give many details. It said: "The James presented a contraction in the thigh and was medicated. We will do an MRI this afternoon to assess better the picture. "

UPDATE - The doctor said it's nothing. He won't play today but he'll be ready for the FIBA World Championship
do you guys know the stats of splitters game well until he was injured?
i'm more concerned that he's going to play even though he's injured...not sure how much you can trust national team doctors on things like this...are they pretty upfront and honest about these things?
After the game coach said Tiago will be out a week
Brazil coach, Rubén Magnano who coached Argentina Olympic championship team, said in a interview that those teams have some similar players. And he compared Tiago with Fabricio

Brazil-Ivory Coast:
Stream: http://fr.justin.tv/cheveyogplive#/w/336788592
Stats: http://www.fibalivestats.com/matches...5/35m9ujaPH2U/
Splitter 6-6 from the FT line so far
so far most of the 4th quarter Splitter was guarding one of the Ivory Coast players around the 3 point line (if he can do that against Dirk, would be of great help)
Brazil wins 95 to 54; Splitter had 14 pts, 3 boards in 23 minutes; (I'm guessing his lack of rebounding is because he plays more on the perimeter on defense)
If you are interested, Brazil will face France tomorrow at 1:30pm (San Antonio time). Tiago vs. Nando.
FIBA 2010 Players To Watch
Tiago Splitter #4 of 12
http://i.cdn.turner.com/si/multimedi...ges/slide2.jpg
The Brazilian team is loaded with talent, most notably Leandro Barbosa, but Tiago Splitter is the team's true rising star. The 6-foot-11 center was named the Spanish League MVP in 2010 and will play for the San Antonio Spurs this season. With Brazilian center Nene expected to miss the tournament, Splitter will be called upon heavily, and he could have a breakout performance.
