Jimmy Johnson said he wasn’t interested in creating controversy but he wanted to set the record straight on Wednesday about his role with the Cowboys in the years he coached the team.
“The time I was with the team I had complete and total responsibility over the football operation,” Johnson said in a telephone interview from his home in the Florida Keys. “That meant personnel, the draft, coaches, including the strength coach. Everything.
“It was always in my contract.”

Jimmy Johnson did more than attempt to set the record straight regarding the power structure between himself and owner Jerry Jones. The former Cowboys coach said in interviews Wednesday that he believes a country club atmosphere has developed at Valley Ranch.
Jason Garrett’s response?
“I don’t really have any comment on that,” the Cowboys head coach said. “We do things the way we do things here from a football standpoint. We believe we practice the right way and we meet the right way and we create the right atmosphere of urgency for our players.
“It’s what I learned as a player and a coach in this league and that’s what we’re trying to create here with this football team.”
cowboys O-line fucking sucks can't even block against the sorry ass eagles...fortunately Romo is a very good scrambler and has good pocket awareness, a statue qb would get raped behind that o-line.

seasons over!! get ready for next year oline is a joke and injuries on d have finally caught up to the cowboys
bruce carter headed to IR dislocated elbow
Season over but Cowboys fans who are honest with themselves have known its been over for a while.
Murray is the heart and soul of this Cowboy's offense, what a difference he makes.
having ryan cook back helped too.
Per twitter: Cowboys NT in Irving jail after intoxication manslaughter arrest overnight.
Sources saying Pierce-Brent player arrested. May've possibly killed teammate.
@DustinFox37 : Wow @wfaachannel8 : Cowboys Tragedy: LB Jerry Brown killed in same accident NT Josh Brent arrested on intoxication manslaughter charges. 2 mins ago

dwayne goodrich all over again.
why can't jerry jones party with his players
and be a passenger in their car when they are drunk
I think JJ does offer a no questions asked driving service for players. No excuse for Brent if that is the case.

Dez gonna play, won't have surgery. :cry Warrior :cry
Seriously though, he's been shittin on the haters lately. Hope this doesn't make him useless.
Sunday night on NBC, Week 17. Going to be crazy.
So whose QB next year?
Sources tell WSCR that defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli will not return to the Bears next season.
Although he's under contract, Marinelli didn't want to stay in Chicago without close friend Lovie Smith. He reportedly turned down a one-year extension from the Bears. Marinelli is expected to reunite with Cowboys DC Monte Kiffin as defensive line coach. New coach Marc Trestman will be forced to press on without the two minds that ran the league's No. 5 defense in 2012. He could sustain some level of continuity on that side of the ball by promoting respected secondary coach Jon Hoke to defensive coordinator.

Bears D cord coaching the d-line?

Rumor right now is that Bill Callahan will replace Jason Garrett as the play-caller, but no official confirmation according to the Cowboys beat writers.
I think it's a good move. I know I would get frustrated with some of Garrett's play calling.
Word is Garrett has been relieved of his playcalling duties regardless if Callahan signs on or not. I honestly don't think you can do worse than Garrett at this point, so this can be considered the first good move Jerry has made this offseason.
yeah jerrys hell bent on finding a play caller and taking some pressure off of red
Cowboys NT Jay Ratliff has been arrested for DWI in Grapevine, Texas.
Ratliff crashed his truck into an 18-wheeler in the "early morning hours" Tuesday. According to ESPN Dallas, neither Ratliff nor the truck driver were hurt. The Cowboys have declined comment. It's most unwelcome news for a player who was already on the hot seat in Dallas. Ratliff's arrest also comes barely a month after Jerry Brown's tragic death in a DWI accident with teammate Josh Brent. The odds that Ratliff has played his final down in Dallas have increased dramatically.

What an idiot. Ratliff apparently didn't learn from Josh Brent's mistake. As much as I like Jay Ratliff, I think this is the last straw and he will be released. It will save the Cowboys $1m in cap space.
If the Cowboys wait until June 1 to cut Ratliff it will save the team $5m in cap space.

Saw this comment on the bottom of the Jay Ratliff article. I've never seen so much ridicule over a coach's age. It's not like he's the one suiting up and going out there and playing defense. SMHQuote:
None of this matters tho bc we have a 72-yo grammpa coaching defense
Rams changed their mind and will not hire Ryan.
http://cowboysblog.dallasnews.com/20...-defense.html/
:lol Hired in five minutes.
Ryan what a joke.
The Cowboys have restructured several contracts and are now under the cap. They restructured Jason Witten's, Miles Austin's, Demarcus Ware's, and Brandon Carr's contracts. Still working on restructuring Romo's deal. Jay Ratliff is also being rumored to get his deal restructured to create more cap space.
According to ESPN, Gerald Sensabaugh has been released. Should save the Cowboys $1m in cap space.

he wasn't the best but he was after injuries. they have failed repeatedly in draft, maybe a FA will want to play for Kiffin or something.
Now they're reporting that the Cowboys will use the franchise tag on Anthony Spencer.

Josh Cribbs has spent his entire NFL life with the Cleveland Browns, but it's becoming clear he'll be elsewhere when September rolls around.
Mary Kay Cabot of The Plain Dealer cited league sources to report that five teams -- and none of them the Browns -- have shown interest in the wide receiver and return man. The New York Giants and San Francisco 49ers have looked into acquiring Cribbs, as have the New England Patriots, Dallas Cowboys and Arizona Cardinals.

Quote:
The Jacksonville Jaguars released wide receiver Laurent Robinson on Tuesday after one season.
Robinson surprised with Dallas in 2011 and was fantastic as the No. 3 receiver. He set career highs in catches (54), yards (858) and touchdowns (11), which helped him get a big money deal with Jacksonville. The Cowboys valued Robinson but weren't willing to put the investment in him that the Jags were, because they had their eyes on other big ticket players, such as Brandon Carr, who was signed to a five-year, $50.1 million deal.
But should the Cowboys bring Robinson back now?

Marcus Spears released

Elvis just released, make it happen Jerrah!

Hasselback was released, i'm sure Jerry is salivating.

This draft....What the fuck..
Standard tbh
No dl picks still.
Like randle at rb
Next year we have to use all seven picks on DL and OL no matter what. Damn, our OL sucks and our DL is close to start getting social security checks we need some BEEF.
The Dallas fans need to hold this stupid fuck accountable as soon as the team starts struggling..

Cowboys | Tony Romo playing less golf Tue, 07 May 2013 05:44:40 -0700
Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo has passed on several golf tournaments he usually plays in during the offseason. He has been heavily criticized in the past for his golf commitments.

Free was scheduled to make $15 million in base salary over the next two seasons — $7 million in 2013 and $8 million next season. That total has been reduced to a total of $7 million, a source said, meaning the offensive linemen will make $3.5 million in base salary in each of the next two seasons.
Jerry jones confirms that jason Garrett has willingly been stripped of play calling duties.#uncomfortable
— Clarence Hill (@clarencehilljr) January 22, 2013

I'm glad to finally see JG stripped of play calling so he can just focus on being a HC. Lord knows he's still learning how to be HC (i.e. clock management, etc.) much less an OC.
Josh Brent tested positive for marijuana.
Dallas Cowboys defensive tackle Josh Brent tested positive for marijuana while he awaits trial in a car crash that killed a teammate, prosecutors said Thursday in asking a judge to revoke the player's $100,000 bond and issue a warrant for his arrest.
http://espn.go.com/dallas/nfl/story/...tive-marijuana
Jerry just needs to wash his hands of this clown. Release him. You're waiting to stand trial for killing a teammate for drunk driving and you're busted doing drugs? What an idiot.
Damn Brents playing days look to b over before it ever really started
If this was the 90's Cowboys Brent would be just one of the guys. Lol at Garrett being "willfully" stripped of his play-calling duties--right. Wasn't JG a decent play-caller? His offenses have had Top-5 rankings, no? Shitty HC, but decent OC. So they strip him of the only thing he's good at it, emasculate him in public, and leave him nothing but clock management and motivational duties.
This will end well.
So have the Cowboys picked up any decent free agents? Im too lazy to look through 47 pages
You raise a very interesting point. And you're probably right. This is Jerry's Cowboys.
I like to think that the playcalling duties were holding him back from growing as a HC so Jerry wanted to make those things that are newer to him easier by spreading the responsibilies around more evenly among the coaching staff.
But, as you said, this is the Cowboys and that will surely backfire.
camp officially kicked off. hopefully we have a injury free camp. i'm looking forward to seeing how callaghan uses the tight ends, offensive line improvement with frederick under center, mo claiborne lining up against dez and if randle can push demarco's injury prone ass, no homo.
damn...thats not good considering how injury prone ratliff is.
