Romo's never had anything close to Zeke though tbh. Marion Barber at his best is still a large step down from Elliott imo

I think he's a tad faster, and more willing to stick his head in on a defender but essentially the same skillset. Good hands and shiftiness are also Murray strengths. He does have way more potential though obviously considering he is the 4th pick and performing at a level that took Murray like 3 years to achieve

Re: All Inclusive Cowboys Thread
Elliott has good speed, and he can get up to max velocity quickly, but....he doesn't have great speed like a Bo Jackson, Herschel Walker, Jamaal Charles, Chris Johnson, O.J.Simpson, Eric Dickerson, Gale Sayers. Not as fast as Tony Dorsett.
Let's say he was faster in 2014/2015, how about 10.65? Jamaal Charles ran a 10.18 at Texas, Reggie Bush ran a 10.4ish in HS, O.J.Simpson ran a 9.4 yards, that's about a 10.35ish meters. Tony Dorsett ran a 9.5 yards, so 10.45ish.
But.....Elliotts ability to burst, to hit MV quickly gives this illusion of great speed, and as a RB that really is more important than 100m jets.

Elliott looks pretty damn fast for a guy that didn't really get advertised as having break away speed pre-draft.. The mental/patience part of it that he was lacking the first two games makes up for his 4.5 speed vs a Chris Johnson 4.2 who just had to turn a corner to be in the clear

I agree.. I think Jerry feels the pressure regarding his stance on Tony starting and doesn't go away from it completely, but at least delays it under the guise that they are "being patient" w/ his return.

Elliott had a ton of long runs while at OSU, everyone knew about his speed. He just was more than that. Most knowing about his HS hurdling exploits.
Curtis Dickey out of Texas A&M is the fastest NFL RB in history, he was actually world ranked at 100m. He ran a 10.10, no RB has ever ran faster. But....he couldn't stop and start, it took him awhile to build up his MV, so that is why you are.."who?'. He was a "good" NFL back had a 1000 yard season wth the Colts but his great speed was never really talked about. Elliott has that burst, then Dickey would catch him and ....gone.

But....only a few RB's really stood out as unique....Eric Dickerson...the most obvious, the cat...pranced. Barry Sanders with that herky jerky stop and go. The smoothest runner ever...Tony Dorsett, pretty to watch. Roger Craig and those knees...ha~~~

DeMarco did have a few fumbles but not enough to be labeled fumble prone, even that year. Barber's best year was as the red zone finisher opposite of Julius Jones IMO, he was just a fan favorite who's actual effectiveness was blurred because of his violent running style

In the third quarter alone he dropped 2 perfect passes in a row from Dak -- cost us 4 + 3 = 7 points, and could have been worse.
The first was a slant into the endzone he should have caught and scored (on 3rd down), and the second would have moved the ball from the 3 yard line to midfield and spared Dak that costly interception the next play. Should have caught both.

To be fair, the Great Sieve of Dallas lost the game and season for us that year, not Romo. There's no way in hell Tyron, Fredbeard, and Zack allow Strahan, Tuck, Osi and Kiwanuka to anally fuck the backfield like that.

Not season ending even if true, and it may still just be a strained groin.
4-6 week timetable, will return... also this will push down his price tag for the offseason if he does miss time, so we can likely keep him for a nice 4 year/20 million contract instead of the 8 or so million a year that he otherwise might have been able to command.

I'll admit, I was firmly against selecting him 4th overall. I'm in the camp of never drafting a RB in the first round.
Zeke however, has proven to be worth it. He's the engine that drives this offense. He's outclassing 2014 Murray. If he can stay healthy and keep up his production I can see him having a Tomlinson like career, tbh..

Yes, and it's less about "not giving a shit" than it is pure practicality in that, the Cowboys are a great team with one major achilles' heel: no competent edge rushers other than Lawrence, who still gets as much pressure as possible despite facing double and even sometimes triple teams. Last year he excelled because the other teams had to worry about Hardy and Gregory on the other end. This year, nobody seriously gives an actual fuck about Jack Crawford or Benson Mayowa. And they refuse to play Irving as anything other than a situational pass rushing 1-technique.
Marinelli NEEDS Randy Gregory back for this potential SB run, and that's far and away more important than "sending a message" or anything like that. Here, practicality is king. If you've never liked meatloaf, but you're on the brink of starvation and some guy comes up and offers you free meatloaf for a year, do you not take the meatloaf?

Tomorrow 5pm EDT is season deadline, but we can always wait until February after we win the SB with Dak.
Drowns need a franchise QB, at least someone to mentor the younger ones and be there a few years and help get the franchise back on track... Romo can do just that.
Pair him with an above average RB in McFadden, better than anything else the Browns got by far.
Then you give them 2 picks in the top two rounds to combine with their second rounder, so that's 3 picks in the top 64. No blue chippers for them this year, but that's fine because they've got their QB and they really need to focus on filling out that roster with good talent to bring that franchise back from the cellar. You also give them a 7th and a 6th the next year as sweeteners.
In return... we get to draft Myles Garrett, who may be the best pass rusher the NFL draft has seen in a long, long time... going at least back to Von Miller, maybe as far back as Lawrence Taylor. The guy is that good and barring injury and suspension, the defensive end rotation with Lawrence - Garrett - Gregory - T. Crawford, could, COULD be the best edge rushing unit in the NFL for many years to come.

The Vikings lost to the Bears. So Cowboys really have a leg up on that #1 seed. Let's hope Dak doesn't go to Baja with some hot supermodel for the playoff bye week.

Also, imagine a healthy and roaming Sean Lee and Jaylon Smith behind them at the next level. Claiborne, Scandrick, Jones, Church, and Brown in the secondary, assuming Carr walks or retires.
All of a sudden you have to put the Cowboys defense in the top 5 along with the offense.

gotta love dez for creating a family environment with this team. i haven't seen a cowboy team with this type of bond since the triplet days.
"I made this decision on the first day of OTAs, and then we did it again at training camp and we did it again every day since then,'' Bryant tells me, the intensity of what he is about to tell me causing his eyes to widen. "No hazing. No freezing-out. None of that bullshit. On the first day when they got here, I told Dak (Prescott) and Zeke (Ezekiel Elliott), 'Y'all not just rookies. You're players. Dallas Cowboys players. As important as me. As important as anybody.
The good news is that the team hinted on a possible return for Rolando McClain, which would be a huge boost to the defense which is talent starved at arguably the 4-3's most important position: the MLB.
He's eligible to return to practice November 14 and play November 24.

Kessler getting the start. Jerruh claimed Claiborne has strained groin, not sports hernia - no surgery.

Jerruh is the least reliable source out of SJ, JG, and Jerruh. But if true great news -- means he'll be back in like 3 games or less instead of 4-6

Let's see if those Vegas "wise guys" know their stuff.
The Cowboys will be a "trap game" that is an obvious inferior opponet sandwiched in between two serious opponets. Now can that superior team get up for the pansies? According to the "wise guys" this will be close with the Cowboys just pulling it off at the end. So the ATS play is the Browns + 7.
They are also all over Denver beating the Raiders in a pick um.

Definitly a trap game.....don't like these type of games cause the Browns don't have nothing to lose.....

only way drowns win is if it's some stupid score like 17-16 and Dak gets knocked out for part of the game and Sanchez has to play... which is unfortunately a possibility.
