From the tone of her interview, I never got the impression she was kidnapped or physically forced to do anything to begin with.

My impression was that she was bound and blindfolded by two mysterious (friendly?) strangers, then delivered to the banks of some local river or creek. Did I get that wrong?

Yes, but with her consent. Think it greatly changes the tone of the story. Seems to me like some goofy take on a "ritual". Akin to college hazing.

Likening it to hazing doesn't much diminish the creep factor for me, but to those who have already been hazed I guess it's no big deal. Vive la difference.

in the court of my opinion, even with her consenting to getting tied up and blindfolded, the notion that two stoned dudes took a tied up, blindfolded chick to a creek is creepy.

Probably the difference factor. Most people who join the military get hazed in some fashion or another, not to mention that military personnel tend to do attend alot of symbolic ceremonies. Maybe that explains my lack of creep-outed-ness. :lol

I'm familiar with the derisive, bantering style of south Texas soccer coaches. So in a dim way maybe, I can relate.

But I wasn't bound to that by a contract: I chose to play every single time, so I put up with all the cheesy taunting. Eventually I did realize our coaches were getting us ready for the kind of things our opponents would say on the field (or the parents on the sideline) and otherwise, were driving us appropriately to our physical extremity in practice.

All the while testing our wits to amuse themselves.
