Re: George Carlin Spells it Out
If dems would put your wealth at risk, Repugs would put your sons and daughters in foriegn nations with a gun in their hand to bring home the bacon to fatten their stock holdings.

An act cannot be voluntary if the actor is subject to lies fraud deceit as the instigation for action
Re: George Carlin Spells it Out
what George says is that the planet will recover, he says nothing about whether the current planet-destroying race, "fleas", will survive.
George was great, I never tire of re-watching his shows. same with Chris Rock and Lewis Black.

What repugs think is that profits/personal wealth will shield them from destruction of human habitat that follows irresponsible exploitation.
Shielded by gated neighborhoods and resources to buy necessities for the fam when clean unspoiled sustenance habitat comes in short supply.
What then discourages the scorched-earth corporate policies that we already see in place? When BP leaders can leave "little people" of the Gulf coast stranded eyeball-deep in the muck and flee to yacht races and personal retreats?

Re: George Carlin Spells it Out
The only problem: this is a short-sighted strategy that comes back to bite you in the ass when you realize our fates as people of one nation are tied. Many who consider themselves among the strong will realize that 1. they are preyed upon just like everyone else, and 2. they arent as strong as they think they are, and 3. the "prey" can become predators at the drop of a hat

And then a city-sized meter strikes the planet and we get to start all over again...

You dont even have to wait that long to find yourself held at gunpoint by someone of a lower-class persuasion with nothing left to lose...someone with a full blown addiction or a family to provide for and no way to do so.
I know all you repugs are cheering the demise of the lower and middle class, but if you understood the interconnected nature of things, the ties that exists between all citizens and even some non, you would understand that the weak link is where the chain snaps....the weak rung breaks first...the tire showing cords is the first to blow...just hope you aint around.
Re: George Carlin Spells it Out
See if you repugs can figure out what this means:
Quote:
An individual has not started living until he can rise above the narrow confines of his individualistic concerns to the broader concerns of all humanity.
Martin Luther King, Jr.
How bout this one:
One more:
Quote:
Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly. I can never be what I ought to be until you are what you ought to be. This is the interrelated structure of reality.
Martin Luther King, Jr.

That's a pretty small city, since a meter is only the height to your doorknob from the floor.
