Bad debt needs to be unwound before either the jobs or housing market can expand again. Propping up homeowners/bankers/Wall Street will only prolong the process.
Propping up the unemployed might have something to recommend it as a compassionate and humane policy, but it doesn't address the basic macroeconomic problem. Only the symptom.

If they pass that shit I am SO going to buy a couple of new work trucks personally in my personal business account (I have a C corp and an S corp), take the tax break, and lease them back to my "C" company. I hate that they are fucking up the country but if they are gonna give billions of dollars away just so they can say they are trying to do "something" then I might as well get a free truck out of the deal.
