Quick Grades: Spurs vs. Trail Blazers - Dec. 12
Quick Grades: Spurs vs. Trail Blazers
In a physical affair that featured numerous maimed bodies writhing on the ground, the Spurs slowly but surely grew their advantage on their way to a 95-78 victory over the Blazers. The Spurs outscored the Blazers in each quarter but it took until midway through the fourth for San Antonio to take complete control. The 78 points scored by Portland was a season-low for a Spurs opponent. The Spurs are now 20-3 as they head into the final contest of their six-game homestand.
Tim Duncan B Good effort on D and boards. Passed well but scoring was shaky.
Manu Ginobili B- Still a little sloppy but did well creating for self and others.
Tony Parker B+ Very good on D and quick to loose balls. Attacked adequately on O.
Richard Jefferson C+ Wasn’t involved offensively, allowed defensive intensity to suffer.
DeJuan Blair B- Energy was good but wasn’t rebounding or defending well enough.
George Hill A Aggression continues to impress. Playing very hard on both ends.
Antonio McDyess A- Defense was fantastic — strong and alert. Offense not so hot.
Gary Neal B+ Above average on the defensive end. Made three field goals in the fourth.
Matt Bonner B Boarded better than usual. Hit his only attempt in 19 minutes.

good win spur fans. great all around team effort on both ends of the floor, your 20 and 3 record is no lie

Re: Quick Grades: Spurs vs. Trail Blazers - Dec. 12
Wow, average scores for a 17pt win... (j/k)

Re: Quick Grades: Spurs vs. Trail Blazers - Dec. 12
Pop deserves an A+ for keeping Splitter on the sidelines until the final three minutes.

Re: Quick Grades: Spurs vs. Trail Blazers - Dec. 12
How the hell does Dice get an A- ? His offense was atrocious and his defense was good. Doesn't that average out to about a B?

Re: Quick Grades: Spurs vs. Trail Blazers - Dec. 12
Hill was simply unstoppable in the first half and not only kept the Spurs afloat but gave them that double digit lead going into half. In the second half he came back down to earth but still contributed. Season high on points for him through 23. Plus that rejection on Matthews in the first half was pretty stellar by itself.
DeJuan's stats are surprising at the end of the game. He seemed very active all night and brought a consistent spark. I liked his play for certain.

Re: Quick Grades: Spurs vs. Trail Blazers - Dec. 12
I thought RJ's defense on Roy was about as solid as you can ask for. He played a large role in Roy going 4-16.

Re: Quick Grades: Spurs vs. Trail Blazers - Dec. 12
I see Bonner got another offensive rebound. What point guard did he rape this time?
-
Re: Quick Grades: Spurs vs. Trail Blazers - Dec. 12
Gary Neal with a block in the stat sheet?!?! I don't remember that... However, I do remember him getting 1-2 rebounds on the night with nothing reflected on the sheet. Hmmm....

Re: Quick Grades: Spurs vs. Trail Blazers - Dec. 12
Hill is playing great, he'll be in the run for 6th man of the year
-
Re: Quick Grades: Spurs vs. Trail Blazers - Dec. 12
Tough crowd. A 17-point win gets everyone an average grade of B.
Why doesn't Pop and/or the coaching staff get grades?
Then again, I kind of understand. I watched the whole game and never was really impressed with the Spurs overall game, but they dominated a (barely) +.500 team.

Re: Quick Grades: Spurs vs. Trail Blazers - Dec. 12
Remember that for the last 3 years we've struggled mightily against young, quick, athletic teams? Not so this year. :D

I think Roys knee cartilage did a better job of stopping him than RJ did.

We're becoming spoiled by the Spurs once again. When 15 point wins become ho-hum affairs, there's a issue.

now it's gonna be tough - 6 games in 8 days
Portalnd game was not that great. Spurs were missing some shots, and shot selection was horrible at times.

Funny you should make a comment like this when this was just posted in an opposite thread:
Quote:
(On if it’s getting harder to pick out negative things about his Spurs) “Coaches are sick people. When you have a film to look at for 48 minutes and you know it’s a game of mistakes, whether you win or lose there were many mistakes made. They’ll never be all corrected, but that’s why we have a job. We try to perfect things, but we’ll never get there. The effort is what it’s all about, because maybe it will get you half way close.”
Perhaps you should bring up Pop's negativity at the next Popper meeting. Should go over well.
:lol

Why quote Pop in your defense when you clearly hate everything he does? :lol

Nah I think you should tell em bout the time you and Jebediah attached motors to lawn chairs and started a new sport called 'lawn chair football.'

I'm not quoting Pop for my defense. Frankly, I don't really even feel the need to defend myself against knuckleheads like jjktkk, I just find it humorous to point out the hypocrisy of their statements.

Re: Quick Grades: Spurs vs. Trail Blazers - Dec. 12
Hill sank three 3-pointers as he stretched his streak of double-figure games to 11. It’s the longest streak of double-figure games his career as he’s averaged 15.6 points, shot 50.5 percent from the field, 50 percent from behind the 3-point arc and hit 89.8 percent of his foul shots. Confidence is becoming a key part of his offensive arsenal.

IMO, when you come off like a idiot, you should at least attempt to defend yourself. I'm sure even your redneck neighbor buddies you post pictures of would concur.

You expected him to have more of everything (points, rebounds, steals), or what?
