Typical, America.
This is a ploy by stern to get the fans on the side of the league against the players in the upcoming negotiations.
The NBA didn't lose money last year when you take appreciation of the teams into account.
They just want to say "well, we can either pay players less and make a profit OR.. we can put names on the Jerseys and sell the name of the Franchises."
Which do you think the fans will back?
They don't care if a millionaire player makes 10 or 11 million for 4 years or 5 years garunteed.
Stern wants the average ignorant fan on his side in the argument.
Frankly, games like that just make me hate the little Nazi Fuckwad more.
Is there such thing as a "good" commishiner? (sp)
Actually, Barcelona just signed a new sponsor for next season, I think it's the Beijing Olympics or something, anyway. No, I would hate it. I like the unis clean and simple. Just the team logo and the small Reebok logo.
I don't care about the arena's, but the unis aren't a good idea. Maybe it's good for the owners but I don't like it.
As long as I see Manu play I don't care.
My thoughts, exactly MI21. It's nothing new to the international basketball scene. Once multiple sponsors go on the unis...it just becomes clutter. Nokia, Nike, and Valero on the Black and Silver Spurs uniform just cheapens it.Quote:

You think the Clippers are selling out ? HELL NO. You can make money if you have a winning team. If your team is losing you can't GIVE a fockin' ticket away.
WRONG.
The clippers are making lots of money. Don't know how far back it goes but Stirling is a strict businessman. Do you think he'd own a team that pathetic if it was losing money?
The salary cap is guaranteeing that for him, he gets more money back bc their salary is so low.
One of the gripes i've been having is that i miss when stadiums, domes or whatever DIDN"T have marketed names. I loved the thought of going into the "Hive" to battle the hornets, the Alamodome to take on the spurs. Pyramid, even Great Western Forum had a lot more prestige than FedEx center or Staples, whatever that stands for. I wish the wolves could play in a "Den" or "Lair" or something besides Target center.
This is probably the ONLY time in history where this is called for to use this movie as an analogy but anyone remember BASEketball? I liked the ideas of the teams, arenas, uniforms, players, etc.... all taking on there local reputations. I'm sure we'll never see the S.F. Ferries but you get my drift. Locally, the concessions in SA could be labaled Saloons or watering holes, Pop could hold a roundup instead of a timeout, Parking lots could be labeled O.K. Corral instead of Lot G. It gave it more of a mystique.
