No.
He's been impressive, but not that much of a standout.
No. The Spurs hardly get any national media attention anyway, so for Neal to win an award like that he'd have to come off the bench and average about 30 points a game...:lol
Gilbert Arenas is Orlando's 6th man. So unless Neal plans on upping his PPG by about another 10 points, he's got no shot.
Hill is 6th man of the year.
lol ROY
0 chance
No way. Not ROY nor 6th man award.
He has been great for the Spurs so far, but not that great.
He's not even the 6th man on the Spurs and Griffin has ROY all gobbled up at this point.
No. He doesn't have an all around game. He a great shooter and can get his own shot, but his defense is spotty at best. Solid player, we need him, but he's no ROY. He does deserve some honorable mention however.
Rookie game maybe ?
It's not even his average defense, it's regardless of how well he's playing on offense, he's no Blake Griffin.
Lol italy
he's not even the best sixth man in his state
Lol italy
He's got rapist on the year, that's for sure.:toast
Wow. Really guy?
My very first Spurstalk argument. Interesting.
How did I "obviously sign up to laugh at stupid things"?
My post history, which is currently extremely short, entails nothing of the laughing variety. Aside from my reply in this thread, I have not said anything that might label me as "stupid" or laughing at "stupid things." If I am not mistaken, the Gary Neal jokes are rather commonplace in these parts. Misguided? Maybe. But common they are.
No way. Hes been solid so far but its easy to exaggerate his performances. First of all, Neal is a role player, not a star off the bench. His job is to that open/good 3s, make plays when the opportunity presents itself, and play hard defense. So far hes fullfilled that role marvelously as a rookie, but he is no 6th man of the year. Even if we really wanted him to win - he would need way better averages and more minutes - which is not his role.
Neal has been awesome for us, but not that awesome. He will not, nor should he, get ROY or 6th man.
But notoriety is great.
If there were such a thing as "7th man of the year", he would be a qualified candidate, possibly.
8.3 points per game can make you ROY these days?
As a 6th man of the year candidate you have to be the first one to come of the bench in most games. This description only fits for Georgie ...
he could be the rookie 6th man of the year, why don't we get that category added. :lol
0% chance...for both.
Love Choo-Choo, but if anyone can find a single reason why he would win ROY over Blake Griffin or John Wall (just to name the two obvious ones) then that person should stop watching basketball all together.
As for 6th man...if anyone on the Spurs is going to earn that honor this season it's going to be George Hill, not Gary Neal.
So again... 0% chance. For both.
You don't even necessarily have to be the first guy off the bench; the real question, as was discussed ad naseum when Manu was the best bench player in the league, is whether you start too many games. Oh, and apparently, if people believe that you should be a starter but come off the bench for some reason (cough, cough, Manu, cough, cough), you're overqualified for 6th Man of the Year.
