House GOP lists $2.5 Trillion in spending cuts...
Article.
Funny how they didn't touch the massive defense budget...
-
Re: House GOP lists $2.5 Trillion in spending cuts...
"defense": what an expensive lie that word is.

Good news. Thanks for the link.

Re: House GOP lists $2.5 Trillion in spending cuts...
It's a start. Not nearly enough though. That's $2.5T in spending cuts over 10 years. Last year's defecit was $1.5T. None of those cuts touch defense, SS or medicare either. Sooner or later someone is going to have to acknowledge that massive cuts are required in those 3 programs if we really want to be serious about getting our financial house in order.
-
Re: House GOP lists $2.5 Trillion in spending cuts...
Not gonna fly though. I assume choking funding for Obamacare is a non-starter. Hopefully they can sit down and compromise so at least there's some sort of cuts in place in other areas where's there more consensus.

Re: House GOP lists $2.5 Trillion in spending cuts...
Haha, no cut whatsoever to our massive corn and war subsidies? What a bunch of worthless cocksuckers.

Require collection of unpaid taxes by federal employees. $1 billion total savings.
Seems obvious...

Corporation for Public Broadcasting Subsidy. $445 million annual savings.
Predictable.

Re: House GOP lists $2.5 Trillion in spending cuts...
Holy shit our govenment pisses away a ton of money. You would think the GOP and DNC would agree to cut all that fat.

Just curious, what part of the Defense Budget needs to be cut? (Not saying I disagree, just playing a bit of Devil's Advocate.)

So obvious I have to wonder why the hell we're not already doing it.
-
Re: House GOP lists $2.5 Trillion in spending cuts...
It's a start. They are going to have to do this and more, plus hit defense and homeland security hard too before they have a PRAYER of getting the public to support cutting entitlements like SS and Medicare. Everybody needs to hurt.

Re: House GOP lists $2.5 Trillion in spending cuts...
Cutting through attrition is the same as cutting jobs. The end result, it costs jobs.
Republicans want job killing legislation!

I'm certainly in the crowd that doesn't think we need to be the world's policeman, so a reduction in our overseas presence seems acceptable to me. TBH, I didn't have any specific defense cuts in mind, but know that defense, SS & M make up 2/3 of the budget. All three need to be touched to some extent if we're going to make this work.
-
Re: House GOP lists $2.5 Trillion in spending cuts...
Only one candidate would have defunded the world police. You didn't vote for him. Why u mad?
-
Re: House GOP lists $2.5 Trillion in spending cuts...
Being world police is a joke. Bring what we can back to the states and throw them down on the border. That will keep them busy.

I couldn't tell you off the top of my head, but I have no doubt cuts can be made. Aren't there purchases of equipment that congress makes for the military, that the military doesn't want?

No, attrition is a painless way of making cius, because it doesn't displace any of the workforce.
Big difference.

Do you feel your hair rustle when these things go over your head?

No, just when you throw a basketball at my head, and you miss.

It wouldn't surprise me if Wyden is a YES vote. He wants to exclude Oregon from the legislation after reading the bill.
-
Re: House GOP lists $2.5 Trillion in spending cuts...
They've got to get it past Reid first.
But, I hear there's a plan.

That thing is not getting to the floor without changes...
As it is, it's not getting past the Senate.
-
Re: House GOP lists $2.5 Trillion in spending cuts...
Hopefully the Dems jump in there and cut another couple of trillion dollars. Keep on keeping on.

I doubt it will get past senate as well. This is Barrys deal. We will need to vote him out to put this thing out of it's misery.

Well, you could wait until 2012 and see what's up then, or you could do SOME cuts in areas where the Dems agree. I think the latter would be better than the former.

Any weapon systems contract that is designed to fight a European land war.
Its is difficult to impossible to know US military projects because it is all classified. We still order planes that cost $100 million dollars, boats that cost even more and the like.
Gates canceling the F-22 is a start in the right direction.
The F-35, the P-8, the V-22, the Virginia class sub, Ford class carriers, DDG class destroyers etc.

Re: House GOP lists $2.5 Trillion in spending cuts...
How about we GTFO of Afghanistan and stop wasting lives and money there?
Shit, just keep some unmanned drones and a strict no-fly zone you can patrol, like Bush Sr did in Iraq.

It worked great for our deficit and spending. I still don't even know why Bush Jr invaded Iraq at all. At this point, Pakistan is probably a higher threat.

Yeah right. The military would never say "No please this is enough money."

The Repugs are owned by MIC (among others), and are financed by the MIC which sucks down $100Bs tax dollar wealth every year. The Repugs are only protecting their own finances and financiers
And the Dems are no better, only less upfront about how owned they are.
Citizens' votes count for absolute zilch, perfectly disenfranchised, in the United Corporations of America.
There is no way to take UCA back from the kleptocratic oligarchy.

Anyone want to vbookie that boutons refers to the United States as the "UCA" from here on out in every one of his posts?
