Surprise, Surprise... The South doesn't get out much

So the people who hate everything about Europe and Asia have never even left this country (except probably to Mexico or Canada :rolleyes )

Life is so good in the South and Bible Belt, why would anyone want to leave? If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

The classic example is well-off dubya being elected Prez without ever taking his retarded ass or his family outside of the UCA.

I don't really buy that. There is such thing as southern hospitality which is not a myth.

I actually agree with this for the most part. The climate is warm. They don't have crazy heating and electric bills. They can work enough to live, then chill the rest of the time. They don't have to travel. They don't have to work to become multimillionaires because there is no incentive to become multimillionaires.

Warm weather breeds a more lax culture.

I think southern hospitality exists...if you're from the south or you live here or you're from America and you're visiting through. I don't think them southerners would be too hospitable to a family of Syrians traveling through the south.

I agree one the second part though. These are the people that tend to gobble up whatever bullshit Fox News shits out for them so it's not surprising that most of their viewpoints coincide with right-wing nutjob television.

I dunno, but if I lived in Mississippi I'd want to do nothing but travel.

Equally fascinating is how the states with higher poverty rates have lower percentages of world travelers. Never would have guessed that.

I didn't say it was perfect or paradise. I think there is more to life than chilling. And the racial problems that still exist there certainly make for a less than ideal situation.
