No, TampaDude, not crazy at all. From 2000 on, I've done this a ton of times. When I saw how the 2nd half of that WCF game against Portland was officiated, it was clear that the NBA wanted Shaquille's Lakers to go to the Finals.
If anybody has ever read my posts, its' clear how much I hate the Lakers. I also resent the preferential treatment they get from the refs, the league, the commissioner, etc. Preferential treatment that is blatantly obvious, and completely unwarranted.
However, this is the world we live in. So, in the Western Conference playoff rounds, it's always money in the bank to bet on the Lakers - especially at home. So in 2001 and 2002, I was in Vegas hitting all the Spurs/Lakers games. If LA won, I won money. Whatever. But if the Spurs won, I was elated.
You remember those years, sometimes we had 12-15 point leads going into the 4th quarter in LA, but as per usual, the Lakers would get every call in the 4th, and they would be able ot close the gap - all they had to do was hit their free throws. In order to overcome the refs, we would rely on having to hit threes to win, and guys like Steve Smith and Danny Ferry couldn't get it done.
Then in 2003, Jack stepped up and hit big 4th quarter threes, and in 2005, Kerr and Horry did, and in 2007, Brent Barry did. The Spurs have always done well when they've had clutch three-point shooters. Let's hope guys like Neal and Bonner can step up this year.
