lets hear your thoughts spurstalk.
IMO i thought continuity going into the playoffs was the most important, but now with Bonner recent struggles and Tim's injury:bang.....I'm leaning towards GOOD!

A couple weeks ago I would have said bad also. But Novak has been shooting so well recently and Tiago has been stepping up as a rebounder. I say at this point it can only be good because it establishes these two as solid contributors going into the playoffs. Whether they'll get any minutes in the playoffs is another question entirely, but at least the option to play them looks much more attractive now than it did a few weeks ago.

More Tiago and Novak? Good or Bad?
+ Novak + Tiago = Less Bonner
Less Bonner = Good
This are not meaningless games anymore, so playing Bonner now has no more meaning.
More Tiago- good.
More Novak- bad.
I stay Undecided.
More Tiago and Novak is definitely a good thing.
Those minutes coming in lieu of Tim Duncan are a bad thing.
I am torn. :depressed
Good on both counts.
Tiago looked great the other night. With Tim out, it kind of takes the pressure off because he knows he's going to get minutes and not get yanked for the game if he makes a few mistakes.
Novak has a nice stroke, better than Bonner's, somewhat like Neal's. I wonder if they ever have any internal 3-pt shooting contest?
Novak spreads the floor, having Novak running around coming off screens means his defender has to chase him all over the place. Either he gets his shot off or someone else is going to get free to take it to the rim cause the lane will be wide open. Splitter, he's coming along but he's still no Scola :lol
If Novak is going to keep shooting damn near 60% on 3's, I don't mind him playing more.
More Splitter is obviously a good thing seeing as he looks much better lately than the shit he was producing before (probably because he's playing with good players). Jury is still out on Novak, but he's looked good the last few games.
There's always the hope that injuries to other bigs can awaken Splitter like they did to Mohammed in 05. Nazr was spectacularly bad until Rasho went down, and then he became a pretty big part of beating Seattle and Phoenix. Hopefully the lightning can strike again, as the Spurs need all the size they can get to go against LA.
I wanna see tim and tiago on the floor... At the same time!!!
Tiago really needs to work on his conditioning but thats understandable since he's had injuries and been stuck on the bench. He brings in great energy and a traditional big man presence for both ends of the court that the Spurs really don't have other than Duncan (Blair's too short, Dice relies on his jumper than the post when it comes to offense).
Hopefully Novak can play SF so Manu doesn't have to bang against the bigger bodies out there. He can shoot like crazy but he might be worse than Bonner at just about everything else in the game which isn't good at all.
I'm special. :)
This is how the minutes should be distributed to the bigs come playoff time:
Duncan: 35 min. (hopefully his ankle heals enough to do so)
McDyess: 30 min (don't know if he can go 35)
Splitter: 30 min.
Bonner/Blair/Novak: 1 min total. (before halftime to prevent main bigs from picking up fouls.)
More weapons in the rotation = teh win
I'm all for more Splitter. We're going to need his scrawny ass. The guys has great footwork and he's a good defender.
As far as Novak is concerned-he can shoot, period. He shoots with balls too, so I don't mind. We might need him when Bonner's shrivels up during the playoffs.
Timmy is a beast and he'll be back sooner than we think. Timmy's a player...:smokin
Good that they get playing time
I'm not quite sold but the next couple of games will show whether or not it's a good thing or a bad thing.
I'm not special anymore. :(
We will need depth in the playoffs. Granted eight guys will get most of the burn, but we don't want everybody worn out when we beat the Lakers and go to the Finals. I know it's been said many times , but it is probably a blessing in disguise that Tiago is going to get some meaningful minutes. If he plays his ass off, which I think he will, it's possible he might get some pt in the playoffs. That probably wasn't going to be the case had Tim not got sidelined (yeah, I know it's hard to find the silver lining in that). I'd like to hope that this will bring out the best in everybody. Hill, RJ, Bonner, and Neil will have to play much better for us to go far...even with a rested and healthy Tim. 6 of the next 10 ought to do it. I also think it's not a bad thing with the Lakers playing hard right now because Kobe is pretty banged up and I wouldn't bet the ranch on Bynum's knees.
Tiago Splitter saves the day. Its all part of the plan.
Novak has proven to be a great shooter, but his defense is suspect.
Novak is 18/31 3G 58% as a Spur.
And that hasn't been all in garbage time. iow, he's doing exactly what the Spurs want him to do.
I don't see that he's nullifying his 3Gs with bad play elsewhere.
Blog brother notes how important Tiago and Novak have become

The only sure thing is that less Duncan is bad.
