A problem is people say "he could be great, he just has to learn how to play PG" (and you ear it about any undersized SG in the league not only about Hill).
This has to be one of the most difficult to play and it is not like in the NBA (let alone playing for a contender) you will have a lot of time to learn the position, make mistake...
That transition is almost never successful.
I think it is even worse for a player like Hill who needs to play in his comfort zone to be effective.
I am drunk...but i'm a friendly drunk...LOL...
it looks like hill is scared....not against the other team...because he's plays hard on D....but against his own team....what i mean is he doesn't want to mess up....he needs to play basketball. thats it...Be aggressive. don't worry if you make or miss...or if your setup for other players was covered.... just play and try.....
I like you GH3!!!! but if you fade away...you will also trade away....GO GH3
People set ridiculous expectations for Hill. Half this board was ready to cast Parker out of town last season and was convinced Hill was a better player. He's a dime a dozen bench player who is good defending isolation plays, horrible against the pick and roll, and whose offensive game is really inconsistent. He can get hot and win you a game, but Vinny Del Negro with better D is this guy's ceiling.
TAKE THE FUCKING SHOT GEORGE.
I have had enough of him placing his foot forward like he's going to shoot and then passing it off to Bonner who fucking dribbles around for 10 seconds and throws an even worse pass to someone who is covered which results in a bad shot when Hill had a clean look to begin with.
IF YOU DON'T HAVE THE BALLS TO TAKE THE SHOT GEORGE GO HOME.
I'm OK with a miss, but not OK with SCARED PLAY.
He can't Neal with it. :ihit
IMO he should not be first off the bench anymore, Neal deserves to be our 6th man and Hill maybe will get the picture and get back to playing decent again and not inconsistent which this season has become for him!
I would like to see the Spurs send Jefferson and Hill to Balls camp this summer?
So sad... last season at this time we were talking about him replacing TP as our starter.
since day one this discussion was a total fail. Hill will never be a PG, ever. He is a pure SG even Spurs FO was clear about that. A guy with 1 assist per 36 mn is not PG material not difficult to understand.
When TP was down Hill never run the Offense, Manu did. It made more sense at that time to say we can trade TP because Manu can play PG than Hill can play PG.
Anyway Hill is no soft (see kobe incident) but he constantly needs confidence to play well (see the pop quote) as of today his 6th man spot has been stolen by Gary fucking Neal and he has difficulties to accept it IMO.
Im not sure which other back up point guard we can play besides Hill. So really there is no other alternative unless you feel Quinn should play ahead of Hill. As far as Bonner which other big do we have that has the ability to shoot the three? Maybe you suggest we should play Novak, a journeyman, instead of Bonner?
After the Golden State game Pop called out certain unnamed bench players and basicly said they need to get their heads right and start playing. I figured he was talking about Bonner and Hill.
The problem with Hill is that he has played this entire season looking like a rookie. We all expected him to take a huge step forward after the playoffs last year and he seems to have regressed. Neal and Bonner used to play so well it was easy to not notice but now that Bonner sucks, we are losing 50% of our bench production. Sadly, Blair looks lost coming off the bench too.
I'm not saying that Quinn should play ahead of Hill. Hill is a better player than him, just like Parker is a better player than Hill. However, I'm sick of the Hill hype. All this talk about him being a lockdown defender and a ready-for-prime-time player. He's neither. The fact that he he's regressed is very troubling. Manu is already the defacto backup PG anyway, so if he wasn't getting any burn, so what? I really don't know what the Spurs do with him - unless they plan on using him as eventual trade bait.
As for Bonner, name something else he can do besides jack up 3's. Like Finley before him, his one-dimensional, one-trick pony, skill-set is a burden to the entire team. The one skill he's supposed to be able to perform always seems to crash as the games become more meaningful. When he's choking up and shooting bricks, it is these moments that he becomes an immediate liability on both ends of the floor.
At the point, I wouldn't at all mind it if Pop would sub him out in favor of Novak. I have no idea whether Novak is better than Bonner, but one thing I do know is that Novak has hit clutch shots before. At least Novak doesn't possess the same "deer-in-the-headlights" look that Bonner has.
It would be interesting to see if he could provide better production than the red-headed, mental midget.
It might be worth it to try a couple of weeks of switching Manu and Hill.
Personally, I believe that Manu is getting worn down because Hill cannot pull his own weight.
He s is completly unconsistant this year!
Hill stop being aggressive after that injury in December. In the beginning of the season he was in attack mode all the time. Now he's just a jump shooter. I hope he wake up in the playoffs. If not give more minutes to Neal
