As stated earlier the Naz/Rasho combo is great. If we make any moves next season I would recommend getting a decent power forward (ie:Scola) since Horry probably has one good year left in him.
Because
1) Robert Horry is going to be around for another 5 years
2) Same for Bowen.
I'm a big picture guy, I am talking about locking up the Spurs starting five for the rest of the Tim Duncan era.
You already got Tim, Manu, Tony, extend Nazr this summer, bring in Scola as a backup big, then send out Rasho for a long SF (someone to matchup with the Rashards, Tayshauns, Marions, Odoms of the world).

Bowen can guard the more athletic small forwards and Glenn Robinson can guard the bigger small forwards. I would stick with Glenn Robinson. He is a perfect fit being instant offense off the bench and a training camp with Popovich would only help his defense and discipline.
Horry has maybe a year left.
Bowen's maybe got 2-3 years left before his legs go and he starts getting torched like we regularly see happen to Jason Kidd these days.
Glenn Robinson is not quick enough to guard guys like Odom, Rashard, etc. That's my point. You need someone that can give you that, and the way the league is going the next generation of SF is going to be the long athletic types.
It's really the only glaring weakness in the Spurs two deep for the rest of the Tim Duncan era.
It is not a problem now because no one has been able to exploit it. I would assume that Glenn Robinson wouldn't have as much trouble with Odom as someone like Mcgrady. I haven't seen enough of him but I assume he could hold his own against the bigger small forwards but struggle against the small SF's that are more like shooting guards.Quote:

The long 3 is the Spurs weakness, they need to do something to address it.
Glenn Robinson is no spring chicken and its assenine to keep thinking he's going to be some kind of defensive stopper/matchup advantage for the next 5-6 years.
Hell, there's a better than even chance that he won't even be here NEXT year.
Any team with this type of player would not trade for Rasho. You will not get anyone better unless it is in the draft. Manu can guard and Bowen can guard the matchups Glenn can't. They are still pretty young and can be effective for 3-5 years.

Here's why you don't:
1. Hopefully horry re-signs this offseason, horry > (malik x 10)
2. Rasho, though overpaid is a good matchup with shaq (we all know that if wade was healthy mia would be in the finals)
3. nazr tends to have injury problems so rasho is a great back up and reg season minutes guy (horry rests until the REAL*playoff* season)
4. We got scola comin in next year

Trade Rasho to Dallas for Josh Howard. They'd do it, and that solves the long SF problem. Mavs are lucky to have Howard. He's the next Bowen, in my opinion, and he's a better scorer/rebounder than Bowen is.
Since when did we have a problem with long sf? Last I recalled anthony didn't do to well against us. Who else is a long sf? Odom plays the 4, so does dirk. Oh yeah that lewis didn't do so well when he was healthy when freakin barry was guarding him.
