Detroit Pistons Trolls
Bring your frickin' A game.
If you know anything about basketball, bring up that your bigs in Ben and Antonio dominated the Spurs bigs. Bring up that the Spurs players whined to the refs too much, didn't take care of the basketball and didn't execute.
But don't start random threads about how the Spurs lost because they have a roster of foreigners, Duncan's a fag, or how after one game this series is over.
I can ban the whole state of Michigan from posting here if I want, but I don't.
Most of you were gracious in your losses, so be gracious in your victory.
The Spurs are up 2-1 and still have HCA, so don't be so loud and obnoxious.
Bring a real basketball take or don't play.
Thanks.

Re: Detroit Pistons Trolls
Hey...As a Piston fan, I agree with you.
Besides...we are still down 2-1. Nothing to crow about yet. I'm just excited that my team actually decided to show up last night after being embarrassed for two games in Texas.
I do believe we might have the series I envisioned starting to develop.
(I did pick the Pistons in seven...but I'm hard pressed to see us winning a game in San Antonio...let alone, two if we have to.)
What's amazing to me is how similar this game was to game 1, just in reverse. A tight game until the end of the third, and then things just spiral out of control for the road team in the fourth.
Game four should be intense.

Re: Detroit Pistons Trolls
Mom??? Wow, I haven't even uttered a word... yet a stern forewarning, guidelines on how to properly drop hoop knowledge regarding my own team, and a bold proclamation of your overwhelming Spurs board authority - very intimidating. Does this really work on your flock?
I've digested far too much knee jerk drama queen spousing from both Pistons and Spurs sites alike for me to hunt for a pound of flesh so predictably, and so soon after a single Detroit victory. Relax.
I find it refreshing to read some of the posts after game 3 as opposed to those I read after your two game romp in San Antone. I was beginning to think Detroit fans held a patent on mercilessly trashing their team after a humiliating loss, but low and behold we apparantly have some company.
"Tim Duncan is a fucking joke"
"Duncan and Manu were the biggest Pussies on the planet tonight. Fuck you two. I hope you don't sleep a lick tonight. Wake up dickwads, this is the Finals."
"When Pop doesn't feel it's important enough to say anything before the game, the team in turn feels it's not important enough to play hard, and you get shit like tonight."
"Look, everyone knew the Spurs weren't going to get the calls tonight."
"this was an early christmas present to all those detroit seasen ticket holders.
c'mon guys we knew they would do this didn't we."
Gold, pure gold.
Obviously, the masses shouldn't be held accountable for a few choice idiots. Hopefully you'll apply the same logic to your motor city bretheren. X's and O's aside, determination and energy have been the most important components in victory so far for each team. While the officiating hasn't ultimately decided any contest, the subtleties on how certain timely whistles affect the flow of the game and serve as a guideline as to who can do what shouldn't be ignored. Amazing the difference home court makes, eh.
Some game thoughts: Our defensive assignments were more well defined and much tighter tonight. Proper spacing and better rotation forced more hurried jumpers than set shots and bunnies in the paint from blatant penetration that we gave up in the first two games. A more assertive offensive approach allowed us to run multiple offensive sets during a single possession making it easier to capatilize on mismatches from switches created by our improved ball movement - kudos to LB and CBill for planning and execution. Hopefully Ben's performance was more than a cameo b/c his play sets our tempo. Bowen wasn't allowed to rape Hamilton like a freshman at senior prom. Without Ginobili shooting 70% (or whatever crazy clip he was on) from the field your fourth quarter offense isn't quite so potent. Just a couple of tidbits.
Looking forward to game 4.

First, I would like to welcom you to the Board, and to answer you question, yes, she has that kind of power. So you were right in calling her mommy.
You were right on with a couple of your points, but I disagree with the part about our Fourth Quarter O. Our lack of Offense went way beyong Manu. In fact, it started at the top. Timmy is what makes everything work. Your bigs must have drank some extra Kool-Aid this morning because they played Tim about as well as anyone all year last night. They were forcing him into bad shots, they were pushing him from his favorite spots, they were stealing the intro passes, they were blocking his shots, they were practically in his shorts the whole night. That is what stymied our fourth quarter execution. Timmy gets a couple easy ones early in the fourth, and King Manu is flying to the rim like its game 1 or 2.
-
Re: Detroit Pistons Trolls
That pic is funny :)
The whole tone of this game was set on the very first play of the game.
Manu's weak entry pass, and Ben's hustle to get the steal.
The rest of the game followed suit...Bad passes, good steals.

Re: Detroit Pistons Trolls
Sorry for the jackasses that are popping up here. It always happens during a playoff series (you should see the Pacer trolls we get in the Pistons' forum). But it's not like every Spurs fan on here is a gracious winner/loser that simply talks hoops. Most of them are, but like every board there's a few here that go well beyond the bounds of intelligent basketball posting, or even simple trash talk.
-
Re: Detroit Pistons Trolls/ Tone set early
Sorry about the Trolls, anyway, you could see what was happening in the first minute and half.... Manu gets called for a charge, that if the game is in your crib is a foul on Prince, but since its at our place foul on Manu... two more quick whistles, Spurs have to play tentative the rest of the night, Pistons play aggressive...Its pretty sad actually, I hope there is a more consistent whistle the rest of the series...
-
Re: Detroit Pistons Trolls
While there are some stupid things being said here, all of it pales with what we put up with in 1999 when we beat the Knicks. Talk about a short vocabulary, 90% of what they said started with either " Mother F..." or "F....". Some of you refrain from that.
Thanks.
Informed basketball aficionados who have seen all three games know the outcome of this series already, barring some catastrophic injury,
-
Re: Detroit Pistons Trolls
I agree with some of the Piston fans that have spoken up so far.
I agree that there are also Piston trolls that come out of the woodwork, and make us look bad.
But.. you must agree that if you look at these boards, there are Spurs fans that are just as bad. Take a look around. As a poster above me said, you have your "HAHA %$&& YOU PISTONS!" posts all over the place. As I said in my very first post, I'm here to talk to basketball fans, and where better than to come to a highly active board where the conversation is going to revolve around the series?
You can bash the Pistons trolls, but I suggest you look in your own backyard as well. Maybe the topic should be "Basketball Fan Trolls", or simply stated, "Trolls". Becuase we're from Detroit doesn't make us trolls. I've found some amazingly fantastic posters on this board, both from Detroit and San Antonio. I'm sure none of them would be appreciative of a slap on the wrist because of others decisions.

You get a pass WayDowntownBang since you were here from the beginning. I realize there are culprits on both sides but the fans who keep to their own board I can deal with. I however cannot accept opposition fans that take the trouble to visit here yet have no conviction for their team unless they're winning.

Considering the time, effort and money that she & timvp spend to keep this one of the premier Spurs sites on the web, she has absolutely every right in the world to set whatever rules she so choses. This is also one of the least moderated forums on the web, but you're going to have to come with a little more than screen names like "ManuisGay" or whatever and expect any respect.
Apparently you've missed the point of the warning, as a lot of the trolling garbage has been removed. If it doesn't apply to you, then shut the fuck up.
Welcome to the forum. :)

Re: Detroit Pistons Trolls
TwoHandedJam: Completely agreed. I hate to keep mentioning it, but I think it applies. Since I moderate another board, I just really know where she's coming from. You battle trolls every day, especially on a quality, active sports board for a team in the middle of the run. As much as I think there are a lot of quality Piston fans (and other teams), I find it embarassing to come on here, post with pride on my team and the NBA, and you get some moron named "ManuisGay" coming on and ruining the reputation of all of us.
SpursWoman: Again, I totally agree with the concept of "money=power". I was under the assumption that this board was created by the Spurs organization. If this is ONE PERSON, then I give EVEN MORE props to her. Not only is this one of the more popular boards for Spurs Fans, but I've been around.. and I've got to say, this is one of the more popular, and widely used (with quality posters) boards in the NBA. Great post yourself, but a side note. Aren't there kids on this board? You seem like a better poster than someone who drops the F-bomb to prove a point. Just my two cents.

She & LJ started this forum from scratch on their own with their own time & money....since then Kori's been more involved with WOAI.com and they promote the site, but it's still 100% hers. They're both very knowledgable about basketball and have done a remarkable job....and quality attracts quality...
And sorry about the F-bomb, potty-mouth seems to be my only major flaw. :oops :rolleyes :lol

Piston Fan shows up before the series and talks a lot of smack. Then starts edging towards the door after Game 1, bolts out the door after Game 2, and then barges back in after Game 3.
Weak.

Weak.
What's weak is making a mass generalization that is WRONG. For every Piston fan that started to disappear after Game 2, there's a Spur fan that is calling for someone's head, jumping off the bandwagon, and turning their back on the team.
THAT is weak.

Excellent post except for the "if I want I can ban the whole state of Michigan" A rather childish threat and IMO a knee-jerk response to the Spurs being dominated in game 3. If the post are way out of line ban those that initiated them, don't threaten all Pistons fans (by the way, I live in Ohio and I'm sure there are Piston fans in every state).
2 thumbs up to all of the board members who can trade barbs in a good natured way and carry on intelligent conversation about basketball and laugh at themselves when their teams lose. (the majority of posters) :)
2 thumbs down to members whose posts ar laced with vulgar, racist, demeaning profanity laced diatribes, that have no redeeming value whatsoever (a few losers)

Not really. Kori is nothing but objective. She has the right to run her board her way and she does a good job. Another board (which shall remain nameless but its a Spurs board and they Report anyone they don't like) would have banned all the Pistons fans just because they were Pistons fans. The only thing that is childish is you calling the owner of the board out for wanting to run her site the way she sees fit.
-
Re: Detroit Pistons Trolls
Sam, I see your point, but I also see his point.
It's one thing to run a board, and it's another to talk trash. There's a fine line between both. I don't think that she meant the original post to be a threat, but it did kind of come off that way.
I'm from the line of thinking of 'whoever pays makes the rules', so I'm in total agreement with that. But in the same vein, if you're willing to make a post challenging Piston fans from a 'fans' perspective, the other fans should have the same right to rebutt, regardless of ownership of the boards.
I think she got her point across. None of us Piston fans are debating that there are trolls among us, and we're just as willing to see them go away as you.
-

THAT is weak.
When 80 of you show up before the series and 2 were left after Game 2 it is quite appropriate to call out Piston Fan in here for that.
Of course there was some venting by Spurs fans in this, a Spurs fan forum, after last night's game. It's our house. Don't tell us what we can and cannot do.

The moment you put your opinion on a website that is made for the public, you lose that right of 'don't tell me what to do'. That's a very childish approach.
This isn't your 'home'. I'm as much a member to the site as you are. I'm sure you've got a stronger case than that.

Show me someone that is totally objective and I'll show you someone that is totally boring.
Kori wasn't called childish, just that particular sentence. If you can bring yourself to read my entire post I started it out by saying "an excellent post"
What's childish/shortsighted, is commenting on one portion of someones post while ignoring it's overall intent.
I totally agreed with Kori's main point and I'm guessing that she wouldn't be troubled by me giving an "IMO". :)

Kori is definitely cool, far more lenient than I would be if I were running a board.
Great board, thanks!

No sorry man, this board is a very calm, and cool forum, but you wouldn't know because you haven't been here.
Wanna know who really causes all this shit, it's you fuckers cursing off on us, in our own board, and we don't wanna take that.
MOTOWNS FINEST, detroits notorious gangsta, ask dat cat...

My bad. I'll stick to the clear words like 'shit' and 'fuckers' for now on. My apologies.

Re: Detroit Pistons Trolls
I prefer "fuckers" myself, but that's just me. When I have the time I'll be sure to find Piston Fan's forum, camp out there and tell them how to behave. Maybe we can stop that infernal booing during the starting lineups...

Re: Detroit Pistons Trolls
Believe it or not, I don't go to any Piston boards. I've been banned off of the main Pistons.com for calling a moderator out, and the others one I just can't really get into. I do more of the national scene trying to get a bigger view of the game. Pistonsnation.com annoys the hell out of me, so feel free to take about 50 personalities there.

What's the most popular (busy) Pistons board? I haven't seen any that are that busy (but I've only checked a few).

The main one at Pistons.com (or nba.com/pistons) was fairly large for a while. I was banned about a year ago, so I haven't been back. I understand that they had a whole new format months back.
There once was another one called fanzonecentral.com (or net?) that I still go to, but it's good as dead. A few friends still post there, but it's turned into an off-topic kind of board. The other one I go to that is more of a national board (but a concentration in Pistons fans) is the one I moderate, at rotokingdom.net.
As I mentioned before, there are very few boards with the kind of traffic this site gets, at least the ones I go to. And I said that before I was about to get my Spur.
EIDT: 100th post!

Is that board run/moderated by the NBA? I didn't think teams sanctioned message boards.
-
Re: Detroit Pistons Trolls
Hey smackie, I'm just treating the piston fans how they treat us.
What do you fucking,(yes fucking), expect?
Would you rather have me take what MOTOWNS_FINEST is giving me, and treat him like a normal person, rather than the dirtbag that he is?

I'm pretty sure this was run by the team. The admin there was a guy named Jeff who was a complete asswipe. You can find it on their mainpage at Pistons.com, but I'm pretty sure that us, the Grizzlies and maybe one other team have a board there? It's not one of those options that all NBA teams have, which I find interesting in itself. Usually the websites for each team are cookie cutters of each other.

Just a query - do you think the guy cares? I mean, seriously. He'll disappear after the series is over anyway. And what is wrong with just ignoring them?

Helps let out anger, and I feel much better afterwards.

Easier, believe it or not, I may just stick around. I'm learning to get past the morons, and I'm finding that there are some solid posters around here. Do you guys normally get a lot of action during the post season? I need something to take up some time during the work day. This office needs distraction during the summertime.

News flash: the actual poster you've been cussing at has been very cool in the forum, very much unlike yourself. You've acted no better than MOTOWNS_MOST_RETARDED or whatever his name is.

When you get older, you can just bang your girlfriend and accomplish the same thing.

For the last two years, July has been our busiest month of the year. Between draft, free agency, trades, etc. Summer is a busy time for us. Plus last year I went to summerleague at Rocky Mt. Revue, so we had a lot of info from there.
Hopefully the lockout doesn't screw everything up this year.

Sounds good. I probably will stick around then. That is, of course, if I get my Ass-Kisser Spur :P
