Well, that sucked.....for me, at least. Great win for you guys.
Oddly enough, I'm more mad at Rasheed than I am at Horry. Horry just did what he's best at. Rasheed's the idiot that left him wide open.
Oh well, GREAT game anyway, but the series still isn't over. We had a much more impressive losing streak going into portlant in 1990, and managed to win there.
I can also take confidence in the fact this team plays its best when their backs are against the wall.
Great game by Horry. He single-handidly beat us. Good job by the spurs for staying close long enough to have a chance to win. Thats all you can ask for on the road.
I'm kinda satisfied, no matter the outcome of this series. The Pistons have MORE han proved that they are a championship-calibur team, and shame on anyone who still thinks that they haven't validated their 2004 banner.
Worst-case, we finish a razor-close #2 the year after finishing #1. I'm not going to be a spoiled brat and be unhappy about it.

Re: Well, that sucked.....for me, at least.
I would say that Mr Duncan and the rest of the Spurs beat the pistons tonight
As for game 6...detroit hasnt won in SA in 10 years
SA broke their losing streak in detroit, will the pistons do the same?
As for the pistons back to the wall theory...the lakers, heat and pacers didnt have the home record SA has, did they?
-
Re: Well, that sucked.....for me, at least.
Before anyone drops "troll" smack.....Fear has been here all season.
It was a good game bro and you know this series isn't over yet.
-
Re: Well, that sucked.....for me, at least. Great win for you guys.
I think everyone was expecting MANU to do something...it's what we expect of him. Prolly why Detroit converged on him.
Now that I think of it tho, Manu DID do something:
"Manu to Horry..."
-
Re: Well, that sucked.....for me, at least. Great win for you guys.
THat game was incredible. I have a lot of respect for Detroit and Spurs fans should remember what it's like being at the ass end of a shot like that.

9, actually.
And you didn't read my post. Before we went to Portland in the 90 finals, we hadn't beat them there in 17 years, spanning 20 straight losses. A very good team can beat anyone anywhere, or weren't you watching tonight.
-
Re: Well, that sucked.....for me, at least. Great win for you guys.
You can't underestimate Manu's quick thinking in getting that pass to Horry under pressure. Huge assist.

I've been saying the same thing. No shame in either team losing this series. "Both teams played hard."
I'm going to try to just sit back and enjoy some good NBA basketball for Game 6, and try not to worry about the foul calls and missed FTs. :oops
Of course, I've been trying that all week, and it hasn't worked yet! :lol

Re: Well, that sucked.....for me, at least. Great win for you guys.
I'm glad a detroit Piston fan isn't blaming such a great game on anything other than players..

Re: Well, that sucked.....for me, at least. Great win for you guys.
FDF, outcome aside... what a game... (and good post)

You weren't facing elimination in any of those games.

And what was portlands home record that year
different pistons team
pistons bench doesnt seem to show up on the road in this years playoffs...will they break the streak on Tuesday
I guess the main thing is I will be sitting in my seats on Tuesday just like all the SA home playoff games this year
props to FTF for not blaming loss on refs like Larry has during most of this years playoffs
sidebar: will Danny Crawford call the game on Tuesday and will it matter?

holy crap...did you just bring in this from 1990???
It's not the same team/people...nothing!

Re: Well, that sucked.....for me, at least. Great win for you guys.
I'm also very upset at Rip.
Rip was very good tonight, catching and shooting. Even Bowen wasn't making him miss those.
Rip's problem was when he decided to be a 1-on-1 player. He can't beat Bowne that way, and he should know better.
That last play, Rip could have shot the ball on the catch, but he tried to out-maneuver Parker, like and idiot, and he forced up some crap.
Rip would have been so much more effective if he would put the macho crap away and just been a shooter tonight.

Portland at that point was a perfect 9-0 in the playoffs.
different teams, but the point still stands. Long streaks don't always mean much.
I'm not guarenteeing anything, but people who think the Pistons are dead just because they're switching arenas are fooling themselves.
-
Re: Well, that sucked.....for me, at least. Great win for you guys.
I don't think the Pistons are dead. But Piston Fan might be right now...
-
Re: Well, that sucked.....for me, at least. Great win for you guys.
That was an awesome game! Very good defense all the way around! Even though I couldn't sit down after the first five minutes, it sure was a fun game to watch. Both teams were very good. Of course, I think it 's better because the Spurs won but it was an exciting game!

Re: Well, that sucked.....for me, at least. Great win for you guys.
FearDaFro, there isn't gonna be any Fro in San Antonio. Buh-buh-buh-buh-BEN WWWallace is gonna have his nappy azz BS in cornrows.
No Fro to Fear.
-
Re: Well, that sucked.....for me, at least. Great win for you guys.
Fear has been all season long, even in some game chats.
Hopefuly this will become a legendary rivalry between Spurs and Pistons no matter who wins this season.
For every Piston troll, there have been many great fans with good honest takes, I wouldn't want any other team than the Pistons getting the ring if the Spurs dont.

No Fro to Fear.
I'm not so sure he's really planning on the cornrows for game 6, as he's saying. I think he'll bring it out for shock value.
Nobody expects the fro on the road.

I just meant that I don't think he will be the monster we saw in Detroit. At least I hope he isn't. One thing you guys did show us is what homecourt advantage can be. I was impressed.
But I watched every home game in SA this season. I cannot recall a team that looked so comfortable at playing at home as these Spurs. The Larry Bird Celtics had that incredible home record and so did the 72win Bulls, but these Spurs are different. They own SA and they know it. Manu Ginobili, especially, loves San Antonio, I think. You can just tell in the way he plays at home.
I am not underestimating the Pistons, but tonight's game was a tough one to swallow.

He's got a higher win percentage with the fro though.

Losing game 5 at home to NJ last year in triple-OT was tough to swollow.
And we lost it to Brian Scalabrane, not a reputable player like Robert Horry.
That was the last time I started asking myself if the Pistons could recover from a crushing loss. I haven't asked it again since, and I won't do it now.
The Pistons have a mental toughness that's amazing. They need to be facing elimination to really see it, but it shows like clockwork.
I still have plenty of faith.

No disrespect, but 2005 Spurs >>> 2004 Nets

The point was never the opponent. The point was that the Pistons don't get shaken by close losses, even at home.
Is the Spurs want their championship, they'll have the play their asses off and really fight for it. The Pistons are just going to play better from here on out.
-
Re: Well, that sucked.....for me, at least. Great win for you guys.
"The Pistons are just going to play better from here on out."
The Spurs played a pretty average game tonight,
and they will play Game6 much better @SBC,
absolutely wanting to avoid a dangerous Game7.
-
Re: Well, that sucked.....for me, at least. Great win for you guys.
Mental toughness is making sure you win a Game 5 in your house when you have to win at least one on the road to win the series.
Sorry Piston Fan, this 'mental toughness' hopeful bullshit doesn't cut it, especially with homecourt having been so crucial in Games 1-4 in the series.

Re: Well, that sucked.....for me, at least. Great win for you guys.
I guess we'll see, won't we?
