No. He's a undersized 2 guard who gets abused on defense. His court vision is more limited than any of our guards, and that's a bad thing on a team built on the pick and roll, the ultimate "read and react" offense.
He likes to hang out with Boner in the playoffs and disappear.
Kawhi-5-0 begs to differ.

Looks like a starting job might be exactly what the doctor ordered for Hill, and it also appears in this role he can in fact play the point guard position and deliver dimes.Quote:
Hill scored 10 points in the second quarter on Friday, helping the Pacers rally from a 14-point deficit. He played as more of a pure point guard in the third quarter with no points, four assists and no turnovers.
"Sometimes, it might not be your time to take the shots and be aggressive," Hill said. "In the second quarter, even playing with D.G. (Danny Granger) out there, he saw that I had the mismatch at the time and I had it going a little bit and we were running a lot of things for me, and then in the third quarter, we had D.G. and David West going."
He wouldn't start here.
This thread should be a real hit with Grey Name Spurs Fan
Get over it! he is gone and not comingback. Another useless thread.
What's the obsession with this guy? He's not even as good as Gary Neal.
Spurs don't need anything except for Pop to give Splitter ALL of Blair's minutes.
So you'd give up Kawhi for him?
:lol
I mean, he'd be a suitable backup for Tony, but he's not the answer to the Spurs' problems by any stretch of the imagination.
Our guards are better than Hill. Even I like Mills more.
No we don't.
He sucks.
He's got to learn how to pass on the pick and roll first.
He generally faired better when Parker was out and he was the starting point guard. He never did all that well in the backup SG role. He had consistency issues in that role and never really excelled. In the point guard position however he tended to have better games, and seemed to bring something every night (more consistency).
I agree it's only a few games against scrub teams, but I have a suspicion that he may excel in a starting PG role, especially on a defense first team like the pacers. Backup SG doesn't seem to be the role he's best suited for.
Cherry picking games to base an opinion is not a good argument.
That said, Hill was a good player and was always key in beating the Mavs. He'd be great to have, but Leonard fills a bigger need.
But let's not get crazy and think Mills or Neal are better than him. Simply not true. He was solid in every part of his game, just not spectacular.
Okay so give Leonard away now and we get Hill back, basically thats what it would be.
:pimpslap
antonio daniels part 2
Sorry...but this is too easy.
You should take the advice of your username
I'd rather have Gee back than Hill..
Let's say it again for the five billionth time.
He's
Not
A
Point
Guard
He'll be back next year after his contract is up.
Very solid player, would help definitely. Great shooting, goes to the line often, an really efficient offensive player. Good defensive player. But he doesn't defend well the pick and roll, also court vision needs a lot of work.
He was a big reason why the Spurs eliminated the Mavs in 2010.
only gnsf
He should come back to at least shoot another epi of Big and Smallz with Dejuan Whataburger lol.
Would not want him back if it meant giving Kawhi up. But its funny to see idiots say he sucked or dissapeared and that Neal/Mills are better than him. From up and coming promising player to a scrub once hes not wearing a Spurs uni anymore. :lol
we have too much depth in the guard positions, especially 1-2 combos.
I love George, but we currently don't need him.
I miss George Hill, too, but crying over spilled milk isn't going to do shit. What's done is done. Carry on, now.
Holy crap, Indiana is in 3rd place in the East :wow
after all the talk from the media about hot Boston has been :lol
OP should rewatch last years playoffs.
I forgot why i stopped posting up here & then the first thread i open is this. I'm going back down stairs.
We would not get any better with George Hill back in the rotation, but I would like to have him back so we could trade him again for another draft pick hit like Kawhi.
i WOULD MUCH RATHER HAVE DAVID ROBINSON BACK THEN HIM
People were high on him after the 2010 season when he took a big step up in his game. That step up was at LEAST matched by an equal step back last year. He regressed almost to season one and people called him out before the trade even went down, so it's not just a matter of being in another uniform.
No thanks
Hmmm its like saying we need Beno Udrih or Speedy Claxton back .....
To do what exactly ?
You think the Spurs need another guard instead of a defensive big man?
Dumb thread, dumber OP.
Why the hate on Hill?
He's not here.We have Leonard.It's all right.
But he's a good player.
G Hill is a nice community and team oriented guy and he made some sweet car wash commercials, but he was inconsistent in so many ways and also couldn't fight through screens (recall how he was torched by Dragic and Nash). Spurs traded away a lower tier player and got a stud named Kawhi. good luck to him, but really, who cares about G Hill?
Indiana is 4-0 now since George hit the SL.....
:)
Hill is a decent borderline starting combo guard in the NBA he's not great, but he has a will to win sounds like a good practice and locker-room guy and is good in the community. He's slightly streaky but always gives good effort. Skills and mindset wise he's probably a 2 guard but is undersized for that position in the modern NBA (in the last 3 to 5 years the average 2 guard height has increased 1.76 inches) and hill can struggle a bit offensively against the typically larger starters in this position. He's a very good defender for his size but once again larger and more physical players can give him some problems by posing up.
He's valuable to have as a player on the roster because he can reasonably play both guard spots without serious issues, but he's not great at either, He has the occasional big game. Its nice to have a good guy on the team that is not super expensive knows his role and can fill it well.
I still like Hill, just his talents aren't something this team needs right now. We have too many legit sized wings.....
Hill was not a PG and we had a glut of players at the SG it was good for him and good for the Spurs to do the trade.
We need players who size matches there positions and who have mastered their position. No more drafting 6'2 PG's who can not play the position and then have to be moved to SG?......
We got Kawhi who is going to be huge for us and I hope that we can talk Lobrek to make the move.
Wish him the best but we don't need him and he is not a PG
The good: He brought them back from a first half 14 point defecit against Cleveland.
The not-so-good: He started, and they got down 14. To Cleveland.
Spurs miss him more on the defensive end than on the offensive end. Spurs are a currently a slow team at the guards positions with only Parker being a quick player. Against some teams, this lack of speed hurt them.
Mills is speedy, and Green is slightly faster than average. This leaves Neal as slow and Manu who is slowing but old and with good size. If you want to call Jackson and Anderson guards I suppose you could argue they are slow but it seems a stretch. He mentioned Parker, I think I got everyone else but I feel like I'm forgetting someone. Leonard is a 3, Jackson is a 3, Anderson is a 3/2.... hum no idea.
We don't NEED George Hill but it would be nice to have him back in a Spurs uni. Danny Green & Gary Neal have filled that need.
I love George Hill, but Kahwi Leonard is just awesome for a 19 year old kid ... the sky is the limit ...
He's +30 on the Timberwolves with 2 minutes to go in the second quarter.
He couldn't be any worse than the inconsistent backup PG situation we've been in all season. And at the very least, he'd defend better than Ford, neal, and Mills.
Watch Georgie's putback dunk on Sportscenter tonight.
bump
Indiana 7-0 now w/ Hill as starter
22 pts, 8 ast, 5 reb last night
Hill +105 in those games
Cue Maddnezz with his emoticon "maddnezz". :lol
I predicted Hill would make the all star team someday.
This whole forum is a crack-up, tbh. I absolutely love it here. :lmao
I just don't see where George Hill would fit in right now.
Green >>>> Hill
Kawhi is simply more needed on our team. We don't need Hill as PG because we have mvp-style Tony and Patty, at SG we have Manu, Danny, Neal... But we needed SF and we got it in exchange for Hill. I loved him but if I stay objective, this deal was good for the Spurs.
And for the Pacers, George Hill, and Kawhi Leonard. One of those very rare trades in which all parties came out as winners.
Good for George that he is playing so well down the stretch. He outperformed his rookie contract and now is in a position to get a very lucrative long term deal from his hometown team.
I bumped the thread to bolster my own point, not the OP's. That being, George Hill's natural position is point guard, where he is most effective. That's not crazy talk, that's real talk.
Cue the Wild Cobra "7 games ain't nothin'! Sample size too small!" .. lmao some here will never be convinced until the man is holding up the O'Brien trophy over his head.
