So Spurfan, which first round playoff opponent do you fear the most?

Utah, Houston, Phoenix, or Dallas?

And which team do you fear the least?

Dallas,Houston,Utah and Phoenix in that order

"Fear" would be much too strong a word to use for any of those teams. But out of those 4, Dallas would be the one with the best chance of beating the Spurs, Houston or Phoenix the least.

Dallas would be the toughest matchup, for the mere fact that their scrubs have been known to turn into world beaters whenever they see Spurs jerseys. Phoenix would be the easiest IMO.

Fear is not the word to use againts these teams. But Dallas would be the hardest matchup. The rest, ehh....

Memphis scares me.

Houston... out of the possibilities for the first round, they have the highest level of confidence against SA. None of the teams have the actual talent to compete... besides team Dirk when he's at max potential.

That little Dragic fucker plays for the Rockets, so let's go with them.

Dallas 5,6,7 games
Houston 5,6 games
Utah/Pho 4,5 games

None are scary in the least. Houston has the Spur-killers and Dallas has championship pedigree, but neither would win more than a game. Suns and Jazz would be a cakewalk.

Dallas is the only one that I think has any chance of taking us out. But even then I feel good about our chances against them.

Dallas, simply because they'll go down swinging, literally. Spurs Big 3 would face much harder fouls against their old pony rivals than against the other clubs. The Mavs look like they're on the verge of imploding

Yeah we are pretty terrible. Mavs best shot to win a series is vs OKC imho..and that is only with Dirk playin at the level he did past year. Doesnt look like that's gonna happen this year though.

None scare... but obviously the defending champs on a list.. have to go with them.

I'd rather not get into another series with Dallas in the first round. I think they are more beatable than last year, but too many wildcards in play: Dirk and Terry always go off against the Spurs, Dallas has a good zone which could be used against our penetration, the intensity of the rivalry and the playoff bounces from years past, and the fact that Dallas will be motivated to defend their title.

That's a lot on the table for a first round series. I'd rather go against a team that doesn't have the same kind of rivalry and history with the Spurs, just for motivations sake.

Not scared of any first round match ups. Probable sweep of any of them, tbh.

Without an injury to the Spurs, any fear of a first round opponent would be inappropriate.

Oh, I didn't think about that type of fear. Pretty much all of them but Houston have the potential for their fanbases to get fired up and start asking their players to injure someone.

Denver's our good luck charm. I'd always want to play them in the 1st round.

Prob not wanna play any of the other Texas teams but the Spurs would handle either of them in 6 or less, imo.

Obstructed_view's constant optimism is awesome, but I have to say Dallas is easily the toughest of any potential first round opponent. I don't think any if them are to be feared, but Dallas I can see having a shot at bouncing us in the first round. Dirk, Terry, Beubois, lots of players on their team has a history of playing great against us.

Easy picks for both imo.

Least: Utah

I can't believe people prefer to play the Rockets or Suns over a Utah team that we almost beat at their home without the big three.

Bring on Dallas. Would love nothing more than to show them just how lucky that title was last year.

I definitely want the Suns. We are better at their game than they are. Dallas while we would beat is just not a good idea because they are playoff tested. Utah has a stable of bigs. But the most important reason to hope for Phoenix is we can almost assume we will win first round (yes I remember last year) and the suns don't take a big physical toll as do other teams. I am confident we can beat any team in a 7 game series but I think this team ideally should avoid rough, physical teams. We can beat Utah and Dallas but they will pound us physically for rebounds. Push parker and manu on drives. Phoenix is finesse. We will beat them and leave with minimal contusions.

I think we can beat Dallas, but they are the scariest, imo.

They are looking for revenge after we beat them in 2010. Terry always goes off against us. And it's simply a rivalry thing and the Mavs don't want to go out so quickly since they are defending champs.

It will be interesting to see how Leonard, Jack, and Diaw play Dirk if the series was to happen.

After the Mavs, it's the Rockets. Dragic, Scola, and Martin will torch us like always. And they have so many Spurs killers on their team.

Jazz have a frontcourt advantage over us, but they don't scare me.

Phoenix, bc we would sweep them, but on game 4 Grant Hill would break manus arm again!

Dallas by far. Definitely not the team they were last year with Chandler, but they got hot in the playoffs last year and they could definitely do it again. Plus it's a rivalry, anything could happen. Utah/Houston might give us a few fits, but that's it. Phoenix the least, worst case scenario would be a 5 game series.

I'd be more concerned with who we end up playing in the 2nd round and, if we get there, the WCF. The big elephants in the room are the current state of our frontcourt and our defense. We're not getting to the finals without running into some glaring matchup problems.

Phoenix would have to be the least scariest imo based on their roster and the fact that Steve Nash doesn't look 100% and he is the engine that drives that bus.

the mavs are always a pretty scary team tbh. If they can find a way to survive to the first 3 quarters, terry or dirk can take over in the fourth. I've always been impressed by the level of execution in the fourth. Look at the miami serie last year, lebron, wade going on iso offense on every possession while the mavs keep on sharing the ball. The mavs is a danger in PO even without TC.

Nobody wants to get the defending champs in the first round. At the very best, it would be a long, tough series.

Give me any of the others. Houston is the closest, Phoenix is the weakest, and Utah has virtually no playoff experience.

Dallas, no doubt

No fear at all, as long as Duncan keeps well and Parker continues to put up big numbers.

Dirk is no clutch shooter, and the Mavericks are all but a shell of their former selves, so its playoffs time to bring out that Spurs broom and sweep them into the trash can.

It's tricky. If you play a tough opponent it can wear you out but at the same time it forces you to elevate your game. That's what happened with the Mavs against the Blazers. The Blazers were probably the toughest matchup for them and it got them playing good enough to win it all.

The Suns are a joke, apart from us owning them in the playoffs all the time, they are also the weakest. Its the easiet road. We would sweep them imo.

Like stated before, Dragic, Martin and Scola always kill us. They have some size now too in Camby and Dalembert. That'd be a somewhat physical series.

Mavs definitely earned it last year. Nowitzki was on fire and they played great defense. That's basically the formula for a title, good execution on offense and great defense. In fact it would probably have been a tough battle if we met up in the playoffs.

The Spurs haven't beat the Suns or Jazz 0-4 recently. They beat the Jazz 4-1 in '07 and the Suns 4-1 in '08.

The Mavs I'm positive are gonna have that 6th seed locked up so I'd say the Jazz they have a good physical big front line which would be problematic even tho they'd likely not win more then 1 game.

I'm starting to fear Nash and those Suns more and more, hopefully the Jazz get that 8th spot and we remain 1st.

Yeah, I will say that their game with the Flippers tonight was pretty damn ugly to watch. I actually lost a little bit of respect after what I saw. Looked like a "Memphis-Type Crowd/Hostile Environment." Their fans were loving all the "rough-housing" and booing at every damn thing, etc, etc, even when they were blatantly to blame for something. I don't see the Spurs losing to any of the Cavs, Blazers, or Warriors. That's enough regardless of the outcome of the OKC-Laker game.

I dont think any of our guys will play the last two games. Pop will probably call in the Toros lineup or something.

After what happened last year I dont think Pop will risk anyone getting injure for placement in the standing's sake.
