Re: Ryan Anderson to be named the MIP
Anderson would have to regress a lot to only be considered marginally better than Matt.

An entire fanbase has to hate his fucking guts.

Check out Anderson's bonnerific declines every year in the playoffs. He's a regular season player just like Matt. A better version, to be sure, but he's about to get paid like an All-Star, not the role player that he is.

he got himself a big contract. Well, a big contract in yuans but still :lol

Re: Ryan Anderson to be named the MIP
Seeing as Anderson practically didn't improve at all, it's shocking. Pek, Ilyasova, Harden all seem like far better candidates. Not too surprising for Anderson to win though, in a media awards race, scoring per game always seems to matter a lot more than it should.

That's all I'm saying.
I wouldn't want either on the Spurs, tbh.

James Harden.
Harden has gained 4.6 points (more than Anderson), 1 rebound, 1.6 assists and has increased his FG% from .436 (very very average) to .491 (elite) and his 3P% from .349 (nice) to .390 (killer), while playing fewer than 5 minutes more per game.
Harden is the real reason why OKC did so well this year.
Yeah he can't have both MIP and 6 man of the year
I don't really know why they don't want to give 2 awards to the same player

Re: Ryan Anderson to be named the MIP
Yep, Harden was clearly the most improved player this season. Andrew Bynum and Ilyasova would be up there too imo.
Pek and Lin would have made good cases had they played more, because of their injuries
Cousins and Monroe also improved a lot but, as sophomore lottery picks, they are expected to improve so I don't even think those should be considered.
Anderson didn't improve a lot, his playing time increased but his production remained similar to what he used to do.

lol Bogut getting one 1st place vote.
-
Re: Ryan Anderson to be named the MIP
My top 3 would have been Paul George, Ty Lawson and Hibbert.

Re: Ryan Anderson to be named the MIP
The fans hate of Bonner on this forum has been an embarassment.
Taken to the lengths by some asswaffles of cheering the news he was injured.
-
Re: Ryan Anderson to be named the MIP
Bynum and Goran would have been better choices. Don't think Danny deserved it, but why exactly did this guy win?
Feel like the media really wanted him to win (he was always mentioned in the running), but not sure why they would have a pro-Ryan Anderson bias.

Kind of like you piling on Tiago for being "soft" even though it was Pop's decision to hold him out.

I wonder how many times a 4-time all-star in his 11th season has gotten votes for Most Improved -- and particularly one who has received MVP votes in 4 different seasons (soon to be 5) and has been in the top 12 of MVP voting on three different occasions.

Re: Ryan Anderson to be named the MIP
If Howard doesn't get hurt Anderson doesn't get this award, voters felt sorry for the Magic I guess.
"Dear Magic,
Next year you won't have Howard or Van Gundy, maybe this consolation prize will increase Anderson's trade value... you are going to need it.
Sucks to be you,

Re: Ryan Anderson to be named the MIP
I was rooting for Roy Hibbert- had hoped he would have come in a little higher than he did.

Re: Ryan Anderson to be named the MIP
i think players on their contract year have no business winning the MIP if they cant back it up the following year...

Tony has really improved his passing this season.

Re: Ryan Anderson to be named the MIP
:lol why did anyone ever think Green was gonna win? a guy averaging, what, 8 PPG on the spurs is never going to win any award ever. well, maybe the citizenship award.
buzz and stats are mostly what this award is about, D Green had a truly spectacular year but had neither

In the 2004-2005 season, Shaq got one first place vote for MIP. By then he had already been named the NBA's MVP and a three-time Finals MVP. He even got a second place vote for MIP in 2007-2008!
I also found one third place vote for Kobe for MIP in 2005-2006.

Interesting. Thanks for looking that up.
