Re: Jemele Hill Bashes Coach Pop
She sites the depth of the Spurs as a reason Pop didn't deserve the award...."Pop was just doing his job...managing such an already good team..."
How the eff does she think this team got to be so deep?? This team has pretty much one player that was a definite, no brainer to succeed in the NBA. The rest are players that pretty much everyone passed on and it required Pop to brush off the dirt and plain old hard work coaching to make them good.
Parker - 28th pick, unknown teenaged frenchie
Ginobili - 57th pick, everybody passed on him twice
Kawhi - 15th pick - like a lotto pick for Pop, still had to deal Hill to get him
Green - 46th pick, couldn't even get off the bench in Cleveland
Neal - unfriggin drafted!
Splitter - 28th pick, had to wait for years to get him
Blair - 37th pick, dropped big time 'cause of knees....no problem with knees so far
Bonner - 48th pick, traded Rasho for him, Rasho due to make too much money
Anderson - 20th pick - unusually "high" pick for SA, talented, making little money
Diaw - wasn't playing for the worst team in NBA history
Jackson - 42nd pick, Pop turned him into a champion, head-case everywhere else
Mills - Aborigini from Aussie...has doubled his trailblazer stats, cheap deal for SA
You give these guys to another coach the same way Pop recieved them.....and you got a friggin lotto team or even a developmental team...
What does Pop do... take one stud, add a plethera of scrubs, unknowns, and has beens... wins the eqivalent to 62 games, all the while resting the most important players.
And this has been the Pop and SA way from the beginning. Look at all the rosters....they are all the same....unknowns and projects or players past their prime....matched up with number 21....and you get 15 years of winning basketball, averaging 58 wins per season, along with 4 championships, and they're not done yet...
Pop is a boss. Period.

Meh, easy way to get all the Bulls fans to visit and repost it. Lots of traffic. Do yourself a favor and don't click on it.

I couldn't have said it better myself............and then to piggyback off your post, when a player leaves the Spurs they don't even have the same individual success, let alone team success.

Hell, sometimes Pop even looked like he was forfeiting games by resting all 3, and we still pull out a win.
Quoted for truth. This is what Popovich did better than anyone this year. We lost Manu Ginobili for important stretches as well as recently up and downs with Tiago Splitter. He's incorporated plenty of new pieces into the fold and really transitioned with the team. This team is remarkably and boldly better in every way over last year. The only position without true strength is at the 4/5 where size could be needed. No offense to Blair. She calls Pop the best coach in basketball, lol that's irony.

Nice post, but you forgot
Duncan - DNP - Old
The way he managed team minutes in this brutal schedule was masterful.

Re: Jemele Hill Bashes Coach Pop
Spurs would have more wins in the East...
-
Re: Jemele Hill Bashes Coach Pop
she has a point, even though same shit could be said from a lot of past mvp and most improved winner. Where was all the bitching then.
-
Re: Jemele Hill Bashes Coach Pop
So would Rose have an intact ACL with Pop coaching?
-
Re: Jemele Hill Bashes Coach Pop
The East is weak is a great counter point, although this gal is certainly entitled to her opinion. After reading the thread and then watching her video, it did not come across as bad as I thought. At least she was all over the Spurs' jock generally.
First I have heard anyone say the Spurs that much >>>> Bulls, but I guess the Heat are the media darlings in the East, and Rose playoff injury emphasizes that Bulls are not great without him.
-
Re: Jemele Hill Bashes Coach Pop
Makes some good points but doesn't see what Pop really did during the season, managing to play none of his stars many minutes and get contributions from perhaps the highest variety of players in a team, from uncoachable players, to out of shape players, stars in their primes, stars past their primes, chuckers, guys afraid to shoot, etc etc etc
The player management by Pop this year was nothing short of superb. Either guy was a toss up for the win, Thibs having won it last year def had something to do with Pop's margin of win.
With that said, fucking annoying bitch with her racism man, can't stand her on first take lol

Re: Jemele Hill Bashes Coach Pop
Pop managed minutes, did everything he could to have healthy and fresh guys for playoffs. Despite that Spurs had best record in West, and lost league`s best by tie breaker.
Bulls got first placed, but they are tired and already have 2 starters injuried. While Spurs are killing 8th seed, Bulls are going to lose their 1-8th series.
Thibo have good team, he is good coach, but he pushed his team beyond its limit. He made huge mistake in this shortened season.

What a stupid bitch hahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Jemele Hill Bashes Coach Pop
Who the fuck let her out of the kitchen anyways?
-
Re: Jemele Hill Bashes Coach Pop
Bulls had a weaker strength of schedule. The Bulls were not starting rookies. The Bulls did not need to incorporate three new pieces mid season.
The Spurs far exceeded expectations, the Bulls lived up to expectations.
"Embarrassment of riches"? Like she picked us to come out of the West or something. What a clown.

Re: Jemele Hill Bashes Coach Pop
Im pretty sure Pop would willingly and gladly give up the COY award for another ring.
