I admire Terry, he's the toughness that Dallas needed, that being said I hate his attitude.

The guy's been there like eight years, and the thing they remember most is a nut punch?
Obviously Big D sets the bar really low.

Re: Jason Terry tribute thread on Mavs forum
I only rooted or him last year because he helped knock out the Lakers and Heat.
-
Re: Jason Terry tribute thread on Mavs forum
He's got talent but he's a jackass.
-
Re: Jason Terry tribute thread on Mavs forum
He's always seemed mentally challenged..?? I hope he can make his money last, as getting another job seems doubtful. Good luck Jason....

Re: Jason Terry tribute thread on Mavs forum
I hate him but he has hurt a lot of teams with his instant offense
-
Re: Jason Terry tribute thread on Mavs forum
I was the only one booing him when he came up to throw the opening pitch at a Texas Rangers game. Love my Rangers but f*ck the Mavs and Terry!

I hated the motherfucker since he hit that gamewinner in Atlanta, but he was nails in game 6 in Miami last season and in game 4 vs LA.

Never have I ever rooted for the guy. Fuck him. I hope he ends up on the Bobcats or Wizards next year, where he belongs....

Re: Jason Terry tribute thread on Mavs forum
Man, it really pissed me off when Dallas won the championship last year because Terry didn't have to get det cocky tattoo on his bicep removed. Could give a fuck less about the rest of the Mavs. He's really the one I hated.

Re: Jason Terry tribute thread on Mavs forum
I like what Ian Mahinmi said about that:
http://mavsblog.dallasnews.com/archi...eye-of-th.html
Quote:
Ian Mahinmi knows jerks on the court when he sees them. He also knows that one team's jerk is another team's asset.
"When I was with the Spurs, I thought Jet was a (jerk),'' Mahinmi said at Mavericks' shootaround this morning. "But he's just a guy who likes to compete.''
So going against Kendrick Perkins, Mahinmi knows that even if it's like the good guys going against the villain to the fans, it's not completely like that with the players.
"I think there's a few guys in the league that want to take that role,'' he said, speaking of the certain disdain Maverick fans will have for Perkins tonight. "For me, everybody asks about Perkins. To me, it's just another guy who competes. I don't see him as a bad guy. He's just somebody who wants to compete and win and play hard. That's it. I respect that.''
Mavs didn't deserve to be swept. They fought hard and were close in 3 of the 4 loses. That's tough for them.
I don't know what Cuban and Mavs FO is trying to do. While it's debatable, it's understandable to let Chandler go to open some cap space but if you start doing that, you had to go all in. They signed Carter and traded for Odom which will cost them $4.4M in cap space. As a result, in addition of not having a team good enough to compete this year, they don't have that much cap space to rebuild. I'm curious to see what they will do this summer because they have put themselves in a tough situation.

Re: Jason Terry tribute thread on Mavs forum
The GM wannabe geek inside of me is really curious to see what the mavs are going to do this summer. Terry, as annoying as he was to us, was great for them but I too think he's out this summer.

Re: Jason Terry tribute thread on Mavs forum
I don't get why some Mavs fans are like this. Most Cowboys and Rangers fans aren't, so why Mavs fans?

Cuban has basically made it known they're going all in for Deron Williams and Dwight Howard. If they strike out on those two they're fucked, the rest of the guys they'll have around Dirk will look more like Moe Howard.

The problem is that they didn't go all in for Howard and Williams. To ga all in, they should have free as much cap space as possible and they sign Carter and trade for Odom. They also picked Beaubois and Jones options that eat some cap space.
With Howard picking his option for 2012-2013, Mavs have no shot at getting him through a trade. They have nothing that could interest Magic. They can offer Deron Williams a max contract but he will have a crappy supporting cast. Mavs are just in a tough spot.

I agree they didn't go about it the right way and that's why do many mav fans are pissed. They're banking on Williams wanting to come home to play and Howard wanting to play with him and Dirk. It seems like a long shot and it's either a home run that makes them relevant for longer or it's a game over strike out. We'll see how that goes.Luck_The_Fakers_

Yeah I don't get it. He could have resigned Tyson Chandler before he hit free agency probably for 4 yrs/10 mil. He would still have his amnesty he could use. He screwed up and he refuses to admit it.

Re: Jason Terry tribute thread on Mavs forum
Terry is a competitor, though sort of a clown and jackass. But it's hard for me to hold much hate towards him compared to say the weasel Derek Fisher. Fisher is completely phony, which makes sense he wants to be a politician. Terry is just a baller with an inflated opinion of himself, but it's the NBA so no surprise there.
As far as the Finley nutpunch...in retrospect I'd say Terry was probably justified. If anything that was one of Terry's better moments even if I didn't realize it at the time. Finley disrespected the team in demanding to be released after we helped him win a title. In my opinion that's more selfish than Terry's actions.
