Spurs sweep this easily
Sweep
I think most of the games will be close, but the series won't be: Spurs in 5.
Spurs in 5, with the Clippers taking game 3.
A little worried that the Spurs might come out rusty in game 1, which could help to stretch the series to 6 games, but that will likely be negated by the Clippers being tired/beat up.
Sweep
84 flops Clippers - 16 flops Spurs
Spurs in 5
Spurs in 5.
I'll generously spot the Clips 1 game
Spurs in 5
Spurs in 5. Clippers take Game 3.
Spurs in 5. Spurs lose a game 4 in which Paul goes nuclear and the NBA wants to extend the series.
We need to avenge last years loss to those Grizzlies
About a 90% chance of a sweep, 10% chance it goes 5.
Spurs in 5
Spurs in 6
As with Jazz, Clips will be 5 max, but more likely 4.
If the Spurs go into next Sunday 3-0, they will finish it off then.
You guys are seriously overconfident. Hope all of you are right.
Spurs in 6 or 7.
I haven't even contemplated this scenario. Hmmm . . .
Rested Tony Parker will make the MVP voters look bad when he abuses the hobbled Chris Paul.
Clippers bench routinely beat the Grizzlies bench. That was huge for them. But Spurs bench will dominate in the next round.
I want to say sweep but I think Paul will manage to steal a game. Spurs in 5.
Keep in mind, the Clippers played the Spurs better this year than Grizz did.
Clips may take the 1st game, but I have the Spurs in 5 (no more than 6).
Blake is damaged goods, where is their offense going to come from? Spurs blow out 3/4 games and aweep
Right. Clippers will have to score 100+ points every game to beat the Spurs. Just can't see them doing it with Paul and Griffin injured and the entire team drained after a 7 game series.
Kind of like how in 2006 the Spurs have a physical series with Sacramento and dropped the next couple of games to the Mavs. They got back into that series, but Clippers are not as good as the 2006 Spurs.
A agree that :
Clippers played us better than Grizz
Clippers bench will not be as good as our bench
Chris Paul will gut out at least one win against us...maybe two.
Spurs in 5. This could have been a reasonable series with a healthy Paul and Blake, but no such luck for LA. Plus Del Negro will surely hand the Spurs a game like he did with Foye in game 6.
I predict that:
Griffin will not be a factor due to his knee injury
Kenyon Martin will foul out of at least one if not two games
Patrick Mills will see some playing time in this series
Tim Duncan is going to have a HUGE series
Reasons why it could go 5 or 6: Paul is still capable of dominating one game. Rust is possible for another.
Reason why it could be a sweep: Vinny Del Negro.
Could go 5, I'm pulling for the Sweep!
Sweep
Clippers aren't much better than Utah.
Another easy series for the Spurs.
The Spurs won't be challenged until the WCF and if they get OK City they will have escaped with the easiest road as possible to the finals.
Sweep, if we are too rusty in game 1 spurs in 5.
Spurs in 5. Spurs will lose one of the back-to-back games, but otherwise this would be a sweep, I think.
Spurs have trouble with guarding quick, undersized guards.
Clippers have 4 of them.
Still, 5 games...max.
Sweep. Rust may be an issue in the first half of Game 1, but the Clips were dead tired to start the game today...they'll be even more gassed on Tuesday.
Easy sweep. Game 4 will be close.
Spurs in 6.
Spurs in 5. They lose game 3 and we will be subjected to 48 hours of how someone finally "figured the Spurs out".
yup. spurs in 5. only losing game 4 due to clippers shooting lights out
Spurs in five. I think the Clippers are flat out running on fumes. Plus, Paul isn't right physically and neither is Griffin. And the short turnaround and condensed scheduling obviously won't help matters. This might sound ridiculous, but I'd go so far as to say they have to steal game one or the series will already be over. At least at the start, the Spurs figure to be rusty and the Clippers may be playing off of sheer adrenaline. Presuming that comes to pass, if they can't win in that scenario, then I don't see one that they could win in (barring debilitating injury to the Spurs, of course).
Also, Pop vs Del Negro has got to be the biggest coaching mismatch in the history of professional sports. I could see the Clippers being in position to win a game, maybe even two and them losing it down the stretch specifically because Pop makes the right moves and Del Negro makes inexplicable ones that cost his team.
Are we that confident with this team? this guys are good an athletic i think it's gonna be a long battle
What was pretty glaring to me was the ineptitude of both the LA and Memphis offenses; right before halftime I was figuring the first team to 60 might win the game. Good rebounding and a little bit of hot shooting at the right time turned it for LA, but none of those shots were high-percentage looks.
While they have decent defenses, neither was stellar in any regard.
The Clippers spend a huge amount of time dribbling the ball around for 22 seconds and then putting up a jumper. Just absolutely horrible shot-selection from them most of the series, yet they managed to win it. The Grizzlies have way more ability to do damage with an inside-out game, but they didn't do it enough.
The best bigs for the Clipps were Reggie Evans and Kenyon Martin. Neither has size, and I expect that Martin has a "property of San Antonio" tattoo somewhere on his person. There's nothing about that front line that scares me. Griffin is showing signs of being a pretty good post player, but he's not overwhelmingly big or long. I'm sure Splitter is used to defending guys who do up and unders in the post.
I can't for the life of me see this series going past five games if the Spurs actually show up and play. Unless they decide to just not rebound at all, or if they suddenly become the Spurs of old who can't score for ten minutes at a stretch, they should be fine.
Wow Jon Barry is the only dude on ESPN predicting a sweep for us.
Spurs in 5. Lose game 1....meltdown on ST, ESPN claims spurs are old and Blake is the next Karl Malone.....SPurs win next 4
Matt Moore of CBS Sports predicts the Clippers win in 6 making it an all LA western finals.
Spurs in 5, but I am willing to be wrong for a sweep!
Clippers starters were pathetic in Games 5, 6, 7.
In G5, the bench gave the a a lead and they blew it.
Same in G7, except that finally Del negro had some of the bench players in to prevent another collapse.
Overall, Paul not a big factor.
Spurs in five. Refs will win one game. :p:
We can look at all the factors, but in the end whatever team can score the most points in the game will probably win.
The Clippers are completely gasssed..they just played a very very physical series that went to game 7, with us being fresh and so deep there is no way they can keep up. I want to say sweep but were just bound for a loss sooner or later. sweep/5
Anyone claiming anything other than a Spurs SWEEP is delusional.
For those calling for a sweep.......Hard for me to imagine the spurs being on an 18 game win streak
If Paul and Griffin aren't too banged up the series will be a lot harder than what most think.
I remember when I thought we're gonna sweep the Suns in the 2nd round and then they totally kiceked our ass, so I don't want to say that we will defeat them with no problem, but we really should finish this in 6.
Pops gonna turn Evans/Jordan into a FT liability if the clips get into the bonus early
Anybody expected Suns to sweep the spurs?
Spurs in 4
Some Clipper fans...-

"against the Spurs DJ and Blake will be much more effective. We just played a tougher team than S.A. They have good playmakers, good shooters, and a great coach. But we have so many weapons, we are arguably the deepest team in the PO's, and we have Chris Paul. I like our chances. No matter what it's going to so great to start a new series, new opponent, and we have a ton of momentum right now."
last time we played a cp3 led team it went 7, alot will depend on paul and griffins health going in
fun matchup for sure clipps bench has been playing very well
We will sweep if we jump on them and if Tony plays with fire and remember he is now the leader.
Spurs SHOULD sweep, but I predict we'll have one cold shooting night coupled with Oscar-worthy flop performances by the CP3 goof troop and we'll drop one game.
Spurs in 5.
I wonder what Clipper trolls we'll see this round.
spurs fans cockiness and arrogance. I understand now why French players love this franchise tbh.
we sweepin' ftw !
Clips have a ton of momentum and confidence, we will be rusty as hell and we have a btb to play. I still pick the spurs but if paul and blake aren't too banged up there won't be any sweepin'.
They have a nice front court tbh, jordan, blake, martin and evans. thats a lot of size, athleticism but also experience. CP3 is going to flop as hell, making TP work and will hit some clutch stuff, Mo is deadly one the 3 pt line. Their biggest issue will be the FTs. Pop is going to kill any run they will throw at us by hacking some bigs.
This serie is going to be competitive and hard to win.
Spurs in 5. If Paul or Griffin are hobbling through, 4.
If the Clippers get physical like this game 7... this could easily go to 6. Memphis played great defense against Paul and Griffin's pick n roll but the Spurs seem to fall victim to it constantly.. I hope the Spurs are ready.
Spurs in 6
I think Pop will throw the second night of the b2b, so we'll likely win this series in SA.
Spurs in five, possibly(but not likely) in four.
Back door sweep. Clips steal a fugly game 1 in SA, then Spurs crush pretty easily.
If Spurs play well every game, sweep, regardless of how Clipps play.
I know right? It's like the Utah fans but with even more unrealistic expectations. I don't know whether to laugh (some more) or to feel sorry for them. Even reading on Realgm, I'm beginning to think that some of these Clipper fans literally have no clue how good the Spurs are.
On KABC 7 in LA, Lisa Leslie picks the Clippers in 7.
Michael Cooper picks the Clips in 6 because "they are a little deeper, their bench is deeper than San Antonio. And with their youth, they're gonna create some problems for San Antonio."
On one hand, I can understand where they're coming from to some degree--that franchise has been down for so damn long that they're almost giddy with any modicum of success they may have. They think it's their time to shine, and that desperation has them thinking some crazy thoughts.
Spurs are just plain better, though--I hope they send that message loud and clear this series.
its not like the clips were one of the worse 3pt shooting defenses in the playoffs.
This is going to be a high scoring series. The Spurs are going to want to keep away from close games. They don't want a close game with CP3 with the ball in his hand. That's what doomed the Grizzlies.
Clipper's youth ? I thought the Spurs team now had a fairly young team apart from the core.
LA analysts' dumb bias aside - the Clippers simply don't have the offensive firepower to match the Spurs and their defense is above average but not good enough inside to stop Duncan or Splitter.
I would say most likely a Spurs sweep, 5 games at most.
:flag:
Clippers in 6.
:lol...I see.
I get it as well. I really do. But they're not going to get better by overrating their own talent and underestimating their opponents.
They're in the second round entirely thanks to Chris Paul and the grace of God, TD vs. Griffin won't end well even when Blake's healthy, and if it wasn't for the Lakers they'd be the worst-coached team in the playoffs right now.
Those fans talking about sweeping the Spurs need to get a better idea of Lob City's skill level relative to the legitimate championship contenders and just enjoy the ride.
Clippers in 9
i've been telling my friends the spurs will win in 5. but hell, i'm changing my mind. here comes another sweep.
i think our win streak will go up to at least 20.
Spurs in 6.
