Bargnani + Lillard (if available at #8) for Tony and Tiago
The flip side of this would be Calderon and Perry Jones III for One-Eyed Tony and Tiago.
GNSF Poll Attempt 2.0.

Re: Bargnani + Lillard (if available at #8) for Tony and Tiago
Bargnani = Another stretch 4 from Toronto.
-
Re: Bargnani + Lillard (if available at #8) for Tony and Tiago
Lillard = The selfless (but offensively talented) pg the Spurs always wanted.
-
Re: Bargnani + Lillard (if available at #8) for Tony and Tiago
I've actually never watched a game Bargnani has played live. But i've heard he's a shitty rebounder and defender especially for his size. Sure he can put up 20ppg but we need help on the boards and with defense. I think we could do better for Tony.
Bargnani= Worst rebounding 7 footer i've ever noticed statistically for a guy playing his amount of minutes.

That might be the worst trade idea I've ever seen. I wouldn't take Bargnani for free even if the Raptors kicked in $10 million. And you are going to give away Parker and Splitter on top of that?
That's a great trade if your goal is to become the NBA's worst defensive team.
-
Re: Bargnani + Lillard (if available at #8) for Tony and Tiago
I'd rather have Ed Davis and John Henson, and go after Nash in fa, and find a suitable back up. Not gonna happen but one can dream.

Re: Bargnani + Lillard (if available at #8) for Tony and Tiago
I'm not sure I'd even trade Tiago straight up for Bargnani.
That leaves TP straight up for the #8 pick, which also makes little sense.

One does not simply trade a team's MVP for a non-top 3 lottery pick.

I wouldn't. It would be like having Bonner, except he'd be playing 35 minutes a night. He's one of the few players in the league who may be worse defensively than the redhead faggot.

I'd rather take Calderon, Johnson and the pick for Tony without giving up Tiago.

Bonner's D > Bargnani's D
And Bonner doesn't have $32+ million still owed to him.
I'd rather have Bonner too.

I could be open to Tiago for Ed Davis who I think the Spurs were previously interested in. But this is, FORGET IT!

Does Lillard remind anyone else of Antonio Daniels?
-
Re: Bargnani + Lillard (if available at #8) for Tony and Tiago
Yeah sounds good. We should throw in Manu for the next worse player on the Raptor roster. Preferably someone with no basketball value but has a bloated, long term contract.
-
Re: Bargnani + Lillard (if available at #8) for Tony and Tiago
Could swap RC and Bryan Colangelo too.
-
Re: Bargnani + Lillard (if available at #8) for Tony and Tiago
I am a Raptors fan, and love Bargnani's offensive game. BUT!!!! while i think spurs training would improve him, the fact that he gets alot of money already and hasnt shown any desire to rebound or D up would put any team that gets him at a disadvantage.

LOL power forward who shoots 43% and who rebounds at almost the same per-minute rate as Bonner.
-
Re: Bargnani + Lillard (if available at #8) for Tony and Tiago
To be fair, I think he averaged just under 20. While I can't say he's lived up to being the #1 pick I wouldn't say he's a bust either. I'm a Bargnani fan so I'd do it, but for the best interest in the Spurs the trade's a stupid idea. Only guys I'd trade Parker for in this draft are Anthony Davis and MKG. Kidd-Gilchrist MAY drop to #4 or 5 and he's got good size, he's a good defender, and he's athletic. You need a guy in that mold to compete with a LeBron James or the Kevin Durants of the world. Harrison Barnes is another I'd consider.
-
Re: Bargnani + Lillard (if available at #8) for Tony and Tiago
My whole point of this thread was looking for some way to get Lillard and a big (when I found out that a sign and trade for Kaman wouldn't work), I haven't seen Bargnani play for a couple years, but thought he might spread the floor. I couldn't find any other big in the Lillard area that would make it worth it/make the salaries match.
So, you're saying I'm an idiot.

Re: Bargnani + Lillard (if available at #8) for Tony and Tiago
129 players 7' or taller have played at least 100 games in NBA history.
Andrea ranks 126th out of 129 in total rebounding percentage. His career rebounding percentage is 9.6 compared to 10.9 for Bonner. #1 pick in the draft, 7' feet tall, and doesn't rebound as well as Matt Bonner.

Sorry, but lame.
He's at 9.6 for his career. 8.6 and 9.8 in the two years without Bosh. He's among the very, very worst rebounding 7 footers in NBA history. That's just a fact.

Btw, if you're trying to make a case for a former #1 overall pick by saying that he's better than Matt Bonner, you've already lost the debate.

Last year. 4.9 for his career. That's horrific for a 7 footer. Dirk is at 8.3 for his career.

Ok, we'll use rebounds/36 minutes. 131st out of 133. Face it, no matter how you slice it Andrea is among the very worst rebounding 7 footers in NBA history.

No, 4.9 for his entire career.
He was at 6.2 his last season with Bosh. 5.2 and 5.5 in the two seasons without him. Plus his rebounds per minutes are down and his rebounding percentage is down.

He's not an historically bad shot blocker, merely far below average for a 7 footer.

He's Brook Lopez with 3 point range. :lmao
-
Re: Bargnani + Lillard (if available at #8) for Tony and Tiago
Would you trade him for Splitter, may truly be the question. Lillard isn't Parker, but someday he could be. He's damn good already, though.
When was the last time a Spur PF or C not named Tim scored 29 points?
I'm guessing Blair?
Who other than Blair? And when was that?
-
Re: Bargnani + Lillard (if available at #8) for Tony and Tiago
The last time a Spurs big could play offense other than TD was the Admiral, tbh...
PF is the Spurs' biggest weakness, but the only things the Spurs need in that regard is someone who plays solid post D and can finish on the PnR or shoot from 3 even.
Unluckily Bargs doesn't play solid D, just passable D, and that's with a defensive-minded coach in Dwane Casey.
EDIT: I seem to remember Malik Rose scoring 34 once.

It's not that outrageous. Lillard is already good and will likely be an All Star or on the fringes for the next ten years. He's also gifted at distributing the ball and can shoot. This thread was about Lillard. Andrea is a scoring threat (and we haven't had one and Splitter even doesn't really for a defensive threat, I'm afraid).
:deadhorse
Makes me hope that Diaw can shed some pounds and become an offensive threat, again.

Let's hope it doesn't matter, but when my eye got fucked so did my shooting and when I had to wear glasses when I played, it made it even more difficult. I don't look at my hands when I dribble, but that ball just disappeared from my periphery. I think Lillard's a sure thing. He's a righty that makes you think he's a lefty and he's so good at that, his arsenal is incredible.

Then you never were very good in the first place. Shooting is more about form and muscle memory than it is vision.

Your eyesight is probably one of the most important things to have as a PG. You need court vision.

What? I won an award for best point guard at the largest basketball camp in the midwest. Try parking your car with one eye and see if you run into something. Muscle memory means shit if you don't know what your muscle memory is relative with. When I finally played again, the airballs were frustrating, and it took a long time before I relearned how to shoot (but I lost what I once had). Tennis? Fuck it, forget about it. Since Tony doesn't shoot very far out, I hope that it doesn't affect him, what worries me more is what these glasses will do to his dribbling-periphery.
-
Re: Bargnani + Lillard (if available at #8) for Tony and Tiago
Bargnani has amazing skills. He can shoot, drive and if he wasn't determined to be the LAZIEST basketball player in the league he has the length to rebound, block shots and then some. If he wanted, he could be a beast on each end of the court But.........He is not. Lazyness is not tolerated on the Spurs and as far as Lillard he better be able to handle pressure from coach like Tony did. Terrible trade unless Bargnani was all that I mentioned above.
-
Re: Bargnani + Lillard (if available at #8) for Tony and Tiago
You want to know what's crazy? If he had Matt Bonner's work ethic he'd be one of the best players in the world. Bargnani's lazy as can be. I'm a fan though of him as a player.
