i don't think it has anything to do with race.

shanahan just got greedy. he has the most dynamic young qb in the league and he trusts him more than cousins at this juncture.

he should do what's best for the franchise and put the back up in so that RG3's knee doesn't get anymore damage.

I don't know - I am fairly confident there is always a race issue when it comes to black qb's and white coaches. I think Shan wanted to prove a point to "his qB" knock his ass out to knock him down a peg and he can put in the white QB without taking backlash..
