With all these offers to RB's, do Texas believe that both Bergeron and Brown will leave early?
Also, there was a lot of interest from Nathan Starks early on, any word on why Texas isn't pursuing him more considering all these new RB offers?

Quick quote from the head coach of 2015 WR DaMarkus Lodge (OrangeBloods):
"There's no doubt that he's excited. We talked last night. Texas is one of those places. When you get offered by Texas. who else is going to offer you that is going to awe you more," McGuire said. "They're at a different level. I know he's excited. It would not surprise me if he committed right away but I could also see him coming out of spring and saying he'll go visit them, go to camp."
I think it's just Texas putting out a lot of lines and hoping for some positive news. Plus, I'm pretty sure they want TWO backs in this class to prepare for the possible early departure of Gray. After the 2014 season, you could lose all of Bergeron, Brown and Gray. That would leave you with Daje (who is a wildcard with attitude issues), Catalon and potentially Anderson of Plano West. Losing Hicks to TCU and going without a back in the 2013 class doesn't help.
My guess is there isn't enough mutual interest. We'll see if anyone goes by Bishop Gorman this spring.
We are looking solid with the 2015 class minus Daylon Mack who is the possible 5 star. Ill take it though, this 2014 has been an uphill battle throughout most of the process.
Some recruiting updates from 24/7...
-the UT coaches have used the first week of the spring evaluation period to focus on in-state prospects mainly because next week students across Texas will have their standardized testing. Next week, the staff will turn their attention towards California, Louisiana, St. Louis, Memphis, Oklahoma and junior colleges (mostly Mississippi).
-Akina also saw DE Derick Roberson during his rounds in San Antonio yesterday.
-Searels is supposed to make his way through East Texas today. He'll check on 2015 DT Daylon Mack of Gladewater, 2015 S Larry Pryor of Sulphur Springs and WR Dorian Leonard of Longview. Mack is supposedy very close to committing to A&M.
-Davis is scheduled to be in West Texas today to see WR Lorenzo Joe and DT/DE Jake McMillon.
-Texas offering RB Auston Anderson of Plano West is a "game changer" in his recruitment.
All of those places were mentioned for a reason. I'm sure Porter has several connections in the cities you highlighted. We'll probably hear a lot of new names next week and that includes junior college prospects. It was this time last year that we learned about guys like Fournette, Starks, Noil, Willis III, etc.
Quotes from RB Auston Anderson on his UT offer (OrangeBloods):
"It happened today. Coach (Darrell) Wyatt came down to (Plano) West and we had a quick little conversation. It was nothing much. Then when I came back to practice, my head coach came in and tells me, 'Oh by the way, you have an offer from the University of Texas,'" said Plano West's Auston Anderson. "I was like, 'Wow, that doesn't happen every day.'"
"I didn't expect that one. My teammates were there too and everybody was freaking out," Anderson said.
"Texas is definitely a school I'd like to consider. I'm definitely looking forward to taking a look at them," Anderson said. "As far as Texas goes, I can't really at this stage of the game make a top five since I haven't visited down there. But this definitely piques my interest."
"I'd have to say the academic portion is invaluable," Anderson said. "I have to sit down, see what they have going on at Texas. I'm sure they're a great academic school but don't know much about it at this stage."
Way off topic, but I thought I'd share anyway and hopefully share a laugh. My poor nephew's tee-ball team is named "The Aggies" -- a buddy of mine who is an ATM alum coaches the team and picked the name -- and he's had a problem with it from the onset. Before his game yesterday he yells at me from the field and throws up a "hook'em". My sources say he is a Texas lean in the c/o 2025...he is quite the fielder and has been known to run over teammates to get the ball, and consistently works deep into the count at the plate.

KSU has been kicking our butt with a talent level of primarly a bunch of 2 and 3 star players. What needs to change is management then we can really worry about 4 and 5 star kids.
I personally like getting a bunch of kids that are lower ranked but willing to work hard.
More quotes from 2015 WR DaMarkus Lodge and his head coach on his Texas offer (24/7):
“I was very surprised they offered this early,” said Lodge. “It means a lot to me. The fact that they offered this early is a great feeling.”
“I like Texas a lot,” he said. “They’re a great school and they always have a lot of success on the field. I could see myself playing there for sure.”
“Texas is Texas,” said McGuire. “That’s a huge offer for him, especially with it being so early in his recruitment. I know he thinks a lot of the Longhorns and he had a great time when he was down there for their spring game. Honestly, I could see him committing and ending his recruitment tomorrow if he felt like Texas was the place for him. I’m not saying it will happen then, but there’s a chance it will happen in the near future if he really likes Texas, which he does. I would be surprised if a decision wasn’t made before summer began.”
“I think he has a chance to be the greatest receiver we’ve had here at Cedar Hill,” said McGuire. “He’s that good. The problem last year was that he was sitting behind four different division one receivers, so he didn’t get as much playing time as he would have elsewhere. But he still saw the field a lot and made the best of it. Damarkus is a very special player and whoever gets him will be very happy, I can promise that. He’s just a great athlete with excellent wide receiver skills. He’s going to be good, very good.”
Good stuff, sahoopster.
If any of you ever had any kind of connection with a frat or sorority in college, you'll appreciate this. A University of Maryland sorority girl goes OFF on her sisters in an email:

Hopefully Mack can hire her as the new "Leadership Control Operations."
S Arrion Springs has received an invite to The Opening this summer.
Bruce Chambers was by Dallas Bishop Dunne on monday to see DB Nick Watkins and OT Jovan Pruitt. Apparently a third Bishop Dunne is on Texas' radar now. S Payton Hendrix, a Red Oak transfer, is slowly getting more attention. Hendrix has five offers so far with Stanford and Nebraska as his biggest, per HornsNation.
“Coach Chambers feels that they want to evaluate him and that he’ll be a guy that definitely should be getting an offer based on everything he saw Monday,” Johnson said. “He watched us practice and said Payton has the frame and the size to be good. They loved Payton’s film, so he’s somebody they would love to try to get on their campus for camp.”

Per OrangeBloods, Texas interviewed a well-known high school coach for a recruiting position this week. They wouldn't release the name. No word if this is for the new defensive recruiting coordinator or another vacancy that hasn't been discussed yet.
