He is good at basketball knowledge no doubt, but to me he plays the role of analyst more than being himself. He uses a lot of psychology talk bs. Reads too much into body language, etc. Hacky cliché type of stuff. Chris acts more like himself, he has a few cliches he picked up during his tenure at turner but I feel he is more genuine
Re: Heat were rusty, but Spurs weren't??
OP, that's been annoying me too. A bunch of the talking heads on ESPN keep talking about how the Warriors dominated the Spurs and showed how great they are and how bad the Spurs are, but just claim the Heat were rusty.
I mean, how hard is it to put two and two together, and just understand that the Spurs sucked at first because of rust as well? Their logic, as usual, is incredibly inconsistent.
It isn't just Rambis either, it's also Skip Bayless (the cowardly bandwagoner) and I'm sure others who had the same "Heat were just rusty but Spurs just suck" take. I think one of the idiots on Around the Horn did it too. Israel whatshisname I think it was.
Re: Heat were rusty, but Spurs weren't??
I think they were a tad bit rusty, but not at all like the heat were. Spurs Scored 25 in the 1st qtr, 24 in the 2nd, 31 in the 3rd, and 26 in the 4th. Those are great numbers, that's not necessarily rust. Spurs must clamp down hard on Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson. Curry must play like superman every single game in order for the warriors to win.
Re: Heat were rusty, but Spurs weren't??
The 4letter does all of that...ON PURPOSE.
Thats why they suck.
Re: Heat were rusty, but Spurs weren't??
The Spurs best big man was Diaw and Curry played the best game of his life.
The Spurs won
Who cares about the excuses others make. Sometimes I think you people just make these threads to troll, and wish you'd find new material to troll with

You can't have it both ways.
Heat come out and fall behind early, and they are all like "Oh yeah gotta settle down and get the rust off". The Spurs come out and fall behind early, and they are all like "Oh man the Warriors came out with a lot more energy", not that the Spurs were missing wide open shots left and right, and making defensive errors they usually don't make.
:cry

that link you posted in the NBA Forum reminded me of this thread. That was pretty screwed up, what that member of LG repeating what Linda Cohn said. I believe it, we're boring to them because we're professional and play the game at the best level possible. If we were a trainwreck full of dipshits, we'd provide lots of stupid narratives for them.

Yep. And with Golden State scoring like 40 points in the paint in the first half, I can't see why anyone would be brain dead enough to suggest those kind of lineups would work. With Splitter back in the lineup, Duncan can go out to the three point line and help defend the pick and roll. Everyone talks about how Joseph got torched by Curry, but he was getting beat by Curry and Bogut for a lot of those shots, and the rest he was just going right to the rim because there was nobody to block the layups. All of that sort of screams for Splitter.

The Spurs offense was rusty but that doesn't explain the shit defense. Golden State had wide open looks all game long. And the defense was at its worst late in the third, early 4th. You'd think some of the rust would have worn off by then.

You can be rusty on defense as well. It's all about quick thinking and quick rotations.
Re: Heat were rusty, but Spurs weren't??
It's not just ESPN.
Anybody listen to The Basketball Jones yesterday?
Their recap of Miami-Chicago was that it was ALL rust, they spent minutes on the rust of Miami affecting guys like Battier and Anderson, etc etc.
But their recap of the Spurs-Warriors game was ALL about the refs taking the game from Golden State. They spent minutes droning on and on about over-the-back calls, Klay Thompson calls, Green calls, non-calls on the Spurs and so forth. All they talked about was how incredible Curry was and how bad the refs were. Spurs received no credit nor rust excuse.
