Re: What a great time for Tiago Splitter's ...
he's an underrated player imo. other teams fear him, but spurfan thinks he's weak sauce.

better late than never, tbh.
Re: What a great time for Tiago Splitter's ...
Someone will easily offer him a Asik type contract. I could see POR or DAL offering more at about $10/mil per.
3yr/25mil would be pretty great for the Spurs but wouldn't be surprised if he gets 4yr/44milion somewhere else tbh.

Simple and to the point.

It's taking advantage of a loophole in the CBA that only applies if the player has played 2 years or less in the NBA. Splitter has played 3 so it won't work.
Basically, if Lin or Asik resigned with their teams they would only be able to pay them a max of $5m per year in the first 2 years of the next contract, and therefore the rest gets backloaded on to the 3rd year. This was a very smart move from the Rockets.
The Rockets, however, are paying them a standard $8m/yr for 3 years. The large 3rd year only applies if the original team (in their case NY or CHI) matches the offer in restricted free agency.
Basically, Splitter isn't eligible for such a contract so it isn't a worry.

With the number of big men hitting free agency this summer, I don't think we have to worry too much.
Teams will be throwing money at Howard, Smith, Jefferson, Millsap, West and maybe even Bynum before offering Splitter that kind of deal. Then you have guys like Hickson who are wild cards.

Good point. Cap space teams will wait out the top tier bigmen. The Spurs should do their best to come to terms with Splitter before those teams start striking out on their first options.
Re: What a great time for Tiago Splitter's ...
Splitter don't like to move too muchif Spurs offers him a good salary even if little less of other team, he will take it. his priority is stay in San Antonio.
Re: What a great time for Tiago Splitter's ...
Of course he's gonna be paid a lot. Personally I think he deserves 24M/3 yrs but I believe he'll get something around 40M/4 yrs because someone will offer him this kind of contract.

Based on that, Splitter is worth probably up to 10M.
Yeah I like Splitter but Ibaka and Noah are way better then Splitter so 10 milll max but probably 9 mill.

Splitter's a better scorer than both.

I'm sorry that you're too busy worrying about the Spurs getting swept by Memphis to notice things like screens, defensive position, and fighting for rebounds. Splitter didn't play better than he has since the last two games of the conference semis, but there's a reason the team scores more points and the opponent scores less even when he's not attempting baskets.

:lol timvp. Tiago, the man.
Re: What a great time for Tiago Splitter's ...
He played great D tbh, i've lost count of how many times i have watched Splitter hedge on the PnR and still recover on to the big man in time.

You're crazy if you couldn't see how soft he was playing against Golden State. It's bad when the dude made me want Blair to get in there and at least bang the Warriors around a little

He didn't play much the first two games, and the Spurs were dominated. Once he was playing regular minutes again, the Spurs walked away with the series with the exception of when Pop decided not to play him for the 4th quarter and overtime. The results speak for themselves. The fact that you wanted Blair in there just proves you're an idiot.

I think Pop's quote after game 3 was that Splitter starting gave the team alot of confidence.
Re: What a great time for Tiago Splitter's ...
Splitter is just ignored by his hero teammates even though his rolls make teams commit and open up 3 point shooting
he also gets 0 respect by referees still
3 fouls in like 2 minutes last game and 2 were shaky foul calls while Gasol was trying to post up

Absolutey.
I want more. And maybe a little more Diaw to butt bump with Zachary.
