Spurs fans of the world unite!!!

...to place a pin on a map.

Ok so it's not uber exciting, but I notice posts all over the place on ST from people mentioning far flung locations of Spurs' fandom. Well, this is my contribution to helping us collectively ameliorate the madness of this too long wait for the Finals. I set up a crowdsourcing map on the well regarded site imapbuilder; follow the link at the bottom of the page, click the "add a location" link, if it's your thing you can connect via the typical social networking sites, otherwise just enter your own or a fake name and email address, and add your location and a pithy message if you want. I know there ST has a quite impressive international base of Spurs fans, and I think it would be the very definition of neat-o to be able to see just how much of the globe we cover. Do it! :tu

Dude, you don't have to put in any personally identifying information. But if you can't be bother to take 2 seconds to place an anonymous pin in a map over a city, more power to you.

:lmao Sorry guys, this was an epic fail! I thought I'd researched this site as a good option, but when I looked deeper, it seems the free version only allows 8 map points. :rolleyes

So you guys whose map points didn't show up must have been past the first 8. :depressed

So let this thread die the ignoble death it deserves, and I'll do a little more research to see if there's actually a service that easily allows this kind of crowdsourced mapping service, because I do think it would be cool for all of us to know where we're all rooting from as we watch the Spurs kick the shit out of whoever ends up being their Finals opponent. :ihit :tu

Well it's moot now since the free account only allows for 8 map points, but there was no problem putting in a fake name/email, and then leaving the address blank.

I've worked with google maps. I'll make a note of this thread and if I have a few minutes I coudl come up with something... not promising anything....

Of course, if anyone wants to take it up be my guest, I'll get on it now that I'm back from a meeting, but have a bunch of work to catch up on. Though it's not like we don't have DAYS available, so no huge rush I guess.
