Is Udonis Haslem the New Spur-Killer/Ibaka?
This guy is the true grit and grind and with his recent offensive outbursts, it makes me wonder if we should worry about him more than Wade or Bosh tbh... He is one of the few non-LeBron Heat players that have me worried. That list does NOT include Wade fwiw tbh.

Re: Is Udonis Haslem the New Spur-Killer/Ibaka?
Spo's offense isn't that great, tbh. But they can always resort to LeBron. Pop has to pull some magic both on defense and offense. And all the Spurs have to play well too.
No one thought the Pistons had chances in '04, so its not clear how will the Spurs matchup vs the Heat. Well, the Heat have yet to make the finals.

I think you have to kill the Spurs to be a "Spur-Killer", no?

Re: Is Udonis Haslem the New Spur-Killer/Ibaka?
Matty B will take care of his former Gator teammate. :)

Re: Is Udonis Haslem the New Spur-Killer/Ibaka?
As long as the defensive strategy isn't "leave Haslem wide open at 17' on the left baseline," he shouldn't present a problem. The Pacers' defensive strategy is apparently "leave Haslem wide open at 17' on the left baseline."

:lol. Truth right there. Besides ibaka never really had to go against this version of Splitter and Duncan.

Re: Is Udonis Haslem the New Spur-Killer/Ibaka?
Depends if Spurs wanna drive us crazy and leave shooters open, tbh. They have before. Let's hope not against Miami.
-
Re: Is Udonis Haslem the New Spur-Killer/Ibaka?
Another thing, while his help defense isn't great Haslem was 6th last season in isolations and overall Miami has been better defensively with him on the floor the last four seasons. They become worse offensively though and overall it must be good news for Spurs with him out there compared to the Bosh-Lebron hybrid.
The huge question will be if Spurs can match the small Miami lineups with Thiago and Timmy, like Indiana has done. Good or bad I think West is different with how he moves and Pop will be forced to go small (break up Thiago and Timmy a lot) and remember offensively Miami and Memphis have really been the only teams who have been able to use their bigs decisively against the Miami D. It's easier in theory than in practice and will often cost more the other way.

Yeah but without the goaltending and fastbreak

Re: Is Udonis Haslem the New Spur-Killer/Ibaka?
What ?
This thread lol
But seriously he looked good in game 5 because Vogel is shit
Indy's rotation D was comical and they left him wide open all night
-
Re: Is Udonis Haslem the New Spur-Killer/Ibaka?
No, and if he's really taking jumpers that far from the basket that often, Miami's offensive rebounding will be in even worse shape.
As long as the Spurs don't leave him wide open, which we all know they won't after Ibaka's fluke game last year, Haslem will not kill them. Birdman also isn't going to shoot 100% either.

Re: Is Udonis Haslem the New Spur-Killer/Ibaka?
If you're looking at their current roster for candidates, I'm pretty sure it's Battier.
-
Re: Is Udonis Haslem the New Spur-Killer/Ibaka?
Yeah. The series hasnt even started or anything, but sure hes a Spur Killer. Why not.

He's actually looked good in every game except the first one, where Miami as a team looked like shit.
He's shooting 67% from the field against the Pacers. Not too shabby regardless of what defense is thrown at him.
-
Re: Is Udonis Haslem the New Spur-Killer/Ibaka?
He has the ability to go off in at least one game (already had 2 against the Pacers), and that can be enough to secure victory for the Heat. And one game can decide a series. If the Spurs give something up on defense, it is that baseline jumpshot which is not a three I fear. But lets just hope our role players can be more effective ...

Re: Is Udonis Haslem the New Spur-Killer/Ibaka?
I'd say that neither Haslem nor Abaka are about this life.
-
Re: Is Udonis Haslem the New Spur-Killer/Ibaka?
The Finals havent even started and were already getting threads like this? :lol First off, Haslem is shorter than Ibaka. And Ibaka has a nicer J than Haslem as well. Haslem has never been a knockdown shooter either. He's always been a hit or miss guy..
-
Re: Is Udonis Haslem the New Spur-Killer/Ibaka?
Haslem is doing his thang though this playoffs. He's the most improved player (since last year) still playing for a ring this year. He will be at least as much of a key for Miami as Jack was for Golden State. I really believe he's that effective.
-
Re: Is Udonis Haslem the New Spur-Killer/Ibaka?
Yeah, he is. Game 3 was unbelievable from him. Fuckin animal
-
Re: Is Udonis Haslem the New Spur-Killer/Ibaka?
Hell No! He hasn't killed shit!
-
Re: Is Udonis Haslem the New Spur-Killer/Ibaka?
Spur Killer has never killed the Spurs... or even really played against them.
-
Re: Is Udonis Haslem the New Spur-Killer/Ibaka?
Who is the Heat-killer on the Spurs? Neal?
