You can't be upset at Neal though... this was a talent scrapped from the bottom of the barrel, played for dimes, and overall gave this team great production. The Spurs have certainly paid more for lesser talent (RMJ, Bogans, etc).
I don't know that I want the Spurs to spend a lot of money trying to keep such marginal talent, but I'm thankful for what Gary gave to the team while he was with us.
Gary Neal is a role player that has a lot of deficiens that you should just have to live with. He's a guy that can possibly explode after a few make shoots and quite possbily hand you a W in a very important game. Of course it's up to pop to use him based on his on floor perfromance, but I can't seem to find someone in the draft or FA as special as Neal...or anyone proven for that matter.
As bad as he is defensively, I think the best course is to try to resign him first at a low price and if he says yes than that;s great, if not, look for a replacement.

I say move him in a trade package with Bonner and Blair and get the best available defender or use same scenario to move up in the draft for best defender. Move Patty Mills into the rotation with his speed and shooting it will give Parker ability to live in the paint. Bring over the Europe talent and let's move on already.
The last three years have been the hardest ever. Three years ago best record in the NBA and we lose to Memphis. Last year we win the last twenty regular season games and the first ten of the playoffs and lose four in a row to OKC and now this.
It's been great thanks Tim, Manu but we need youth and defenders.
PS : the lack of last second shot defense came back to bite us.
Trade Bonner + pick to ATL for Lou William and it will solve the backup SG problem.

He was absolutely horrendous in the playoffs, posting a 9 PER and poor efficiency for an "instant offense" player, tbh..he wasn't much better during the regular season..
His presence helps the offense's spacing and he's always a threat to the opposing defense, but he isn't worth keeping around, tbh..he's too much of a liability and Pop rarely sits him down when he makes mistakes, tbh..
