Don't forget Hanga too
Re: Spurs Draft: Livio Jean-Charles
Exum finishes school in Australia in December. He may then play 6 mths of college before the draft.
After this weeks worlds is as high as 3 in the mocks for 2014 no less.
Re: Spurs Draft: Livio Jean-Charles
If Exum plays college ball this year he won't be eligible for the draft until 2015. If he doesn't he can enter the 2013 draft. IMO this kid is a Jordan level talent and should be the first pick in either draft.

Okay. Anyways, how do you figure that? I don't know anything about the guy, but he has to be 19 and a year removed from high school (if he were an American) no matter what. Where he plays won't affect that.

If he plays college ball he falls under college eligibility rules. If he doesn't he falls under international player eligibility rules.

He's 17 until day after tomorrow.

And? If that means he'll turn 19 on July 13, 2014, he's still eligible for the draft whether he goes in school or stays in Australia.

His eligibilty status is widely reported. As I understand it:
"Any player who is not an "international player", as defined in the CBA, must be at least one year removed from the graduation of his high school class."
The CBA defines "international players" for draft purposes as those who meet all of the following criteria:
Have never enrolled in a U.S. college or university.
Since he won't graduate from HS until Nov and then choses to enroll at a US college falling under non-international draft eligibilty rules, he won't be eligible to enter te draft until 2015.

Interesting. Thanks for the info. That's sort of weird, though.
Re: Spurs Draft: Livio Jean-Charles
He's projected as the third pick in the strongest draft in years (2014) so he can as well skip college.
Re: Spurs Draft: Livio Jean-Charles
Seems like people really haven't seen any of this guy. He looks like a legitimate prospect against other up and coming youngins. I don't think it'd be hard to assume he would have been out of our range in next years draft had he waited. Tony probably talked him into going this year so the spurs could get him. They kept talking about how kids like him with limited scouting, only go in the draft when a team promises them they'll take them if they're still there at their spot.
This is the Nike Hoops Summit He played in this year with the top players for next years draft. Legit?

Re: Spurs Draft: Livio Jean-Charles
LJC was a garbageman against the comparable USA guys at the Hoop Summit. He was blocking shots, rebounding, getting put backs. He was very active. I had no idea if he could shoot the ball well at this point, but I liked what I saw. Did not see what he did today.
Unlike the Mavericks, the Spurs don't blow many 1st round picks. They take guys that stay in the league for a long time generally (with one or two exceptions the last 15 years). FWIW, the Mavies 1st pick has already suffered a broken ankle at Summer League.

It's a shame about Larkin and his injury. However, he wasn't going to play for the Mavs this year anyway. Carlisle hates young players and the Mavs overall are terrible at developing young talent. They prefer free agency and trades over the draft. It's why they've virtually spurned the draft the past 10 years.
Re: Spurs Draft: Livio Jean-Charles
Did he play somewhere today?
Re: Spurs Draft: Livio Jean-Charles
Here's the link to the game report against the Czech Republic. All of 10 people showed up...

Jean-Charles got injured in the game he played Saturday. He is back in France to evaluate the injury.
