Hmmm, that's odd. You would expect Manu to be pretty much number on the Spurs to do list.
Makes sense. Spurs need to see what external FA's they can get and then figure out what kind of deal they need to squeeze Manu into.
No need to hurry. When the Spurs figure out the FAs that are interested, they'll cobble together a plan and see if Manu will take the leftovers. Manu's not a threat to sign anywhere else.

Meh they probably agreed to give him what's left once they think they have the moves that can make the team better.
they probably had a deal in mind along the line of he'll take whatever we have left after free agency signings. thats what im hoping.

Well, maybe the Spurs and Manu have that type of understanding, CG. If so, then that makes sense. If not though, they would need to know what Manu is looking for so they can have a real range of what they can go after. I really, really doubt they are looking for FA's and will go back to Manu and say "we have x for you only, take it or leave it".
Didnt the Spurs sign Green, Diaw, and Mills first last year before they signed Duncan?
I would be more concerned and agitated if they had a deal in place for him already..

I'd think the Spurs and Manu have a professional enough relationship where he wouldn't get offended if the Spurs explained to him what they were trying to accomplish. Whether Manu would be willing to accept something like that would be a different matter, but the idea of trading an extra year or two for a lower initial salary is certainly something the Spurs should take a look at IMO.Quote:

But let's say the haven't spoken with Manu, but they talk to Tiago (and say they will match an offer above the cap hold for him) and they talk to AK and offer 8M per year, they then have to go to Manu and say "take it or leave it" unless like CG said, they add on years with lower salary to make up for it.Quote:

It definitely is, but just seems odd that you would do that and take those risks if you know for sure you want him back. But this is very likely something where the Spurs and Manu have an understanding. You don't just bolt during FA if you aren't confident you know what is going to happen :lol
